soo,
no dee jay on season beating 5?
thats sad
one of the unpopular characters without tournament perspective=(
i saw cody, guy, dudley ofc , a little bit makoto and ibuki and no deejay…
I was the only DJ at SB5. i was in pool 16 so i didn’t play until midnight and i ended up going 2-2. I lost to Noel Brown and a rufus that i play with all the time. I only saw 1 other DJ there and it wasn’t even his main so i didn’t expect to see him played at the tournament.
EDIT: i was disappointed in my performance because i was playing really well in casuals and while i was warming up.
damn. i haven’t lost to a rufus yet. then again that’s online play. How did you lose to rufus?
A. the guy that beat me plays me every now and again so he knows how to beat me.
2. I was missing a lot of techs so i was getting thrown like a bitch
III. once i was on the ground and on defense it was hard for me to get back in it. me playing defensive is not a good thing. I play with almost a blind aggression.
d. I’m an idiot.
To anyone that cares around here. I just got my 360 stick back. I also bought Super for the 360. Its on sale on amazon for 25 dollars new. I’ll be playing on 360 soon. The game comes between the 25-28 and i’m a broke college student so the xbox might not come til christmas LOL
Oh hai guys, random Dee Jay tip #31945…
If you at mid range to your opponent and use a ex air slasher, you can even follow up with ex dreads!
Now to get u1 to connect, I’ve gotten the ultra to start but not connect =(
Good news Jcool, good combo ice, got mad frustrated today though.
Fucking Cody and Bison…
Cody is free. Bison wins because his normals are too good. All of the original vanilla characters (not console) have buffed normals. That’s why they are so good. Too much safe stuff.
It’s not that he was good with Cody, its that he was better then me and had a better connection.
I got into a battle of buttons between him and myself, and I lost that fight in glorious fashion.
i learned to not play footsies with him. just get the knockdown and go to town.
shoutout to threi again for helping me defend deejay on ustream.
do you think ibuki is a better character than deejay?
I did, he just didn’t let me get very far into the vortex maybe one kd. Took most of our sets pretty cleanly till I brought Rose in. Was pretty frustrating, but I’m hoping I was just playing poorly. Maybe my Deejay’s just turned to shit lately, cause after one or two amazing matches I start playing like a meter-burning scrub.
Ibuki better then Deejay? Probably not. She’s easily the most technical of the 10, and has a much more solid vortex, but has low stamina, stun, and margin for error. Out of the four glass cannons (Viper, Akuma, Cammy and Ibuki) she’s easily the worst, so far.
I think Ibuki can easily become better then this version’s Deejay, but he’s much more solid. Vortex is hard to pull off against Deejay, Gief, Rufus, Gouken, and teleport characters, so she loses out on the only thing she’s got going for her. I admire a good Ibuki the same way I admire a good Viper, when they get what they want off, its easy to make certain characters look free as fuck.
Does anyone ever OS crouch tech with c.mk? It has the same startup as c.lk so it might be an idea. However all frames put together it lasts 5 frames longer that c.lk so if it whiffs might be easier to be punished but if it hits you get a hard knockdown.
@pattbird’s question, I’m not sure that’s a good idea since it has a lot of recovery. I think that they usually block those moves anyways, but idk. Just try it out and if you find it works then cool, tell us about it.
ALSO I would like to say that I’ve been doing a lot better in the rog matchup. When he gets me in jab lockdown, I’ll just block some and focus backdash out and proceed to zone/pseudo zone cautiously lol. Also I give him hell on wakeup.
I feel that’s what you need to do against those footsie characters when they try poke you too much. I mix between cr. HP to stuff them if I make a prediction (which is dangerous if whiffed), focus backdash out to zone more, and just blocking and being patient. There’s not really much Dee Jay can do when they apply that kind of ground pressure. Also LK sobat vs. low pokes.
vs balrog/dud: #old random tip i posed number #3495
Throw a lp air slasher, if they do the dash punch move, slide and then proceed to vortex.
Now when they start that jab mashing or machine punch rushing i dunno wtf to do either lol. Either neutral jump hp/mk or hope they jump at you on wake up and do ex dreads to get out of corner?
Also, use s hk more often, a lot of people walk into it. just use c lk as a guide since c lk and st hk is his longest pokes. if c lk doesnt reach, hk will.
Yea, I agree.
I play a decent Rose fairly regularly and that is generally how I deal with his poke strings.
Block, tech the throws, wait for a gap inbetween pokes that’s long enough, and either slide, under high pokes, sobat over low ones, or focus dash to a better range.
And sometimes toss out an ultra if I’m really feeling ballsy.
Also does anybody know if there are any worthwhile counterhit combos off the Knee Shot?
If there are some, I think that the Knee Shot counterhitting, is a common enough occurence, to make it worth it to learn them.
The best thing you could combo after ch knee shot is probably close mk into something else. If you can confirm that fast enough. I start most of my combos with c.jabs anyway to get that charge. I still think that even after ch knee shot a simple combo into MGU would be the best thing to do, just welcome the few more frames to hit the first jab.
I’m by all means not a DJ pro, but his crossup MK is probably the best one I’ve seen so far. In fact, I barely ever combo into dread kicks or upkicks, I just go for the cr.mk knockdown to start over with the mixups. Once you get a knockdown there is a world of possibilities you can go for (empty jump-grab, crossover into knockdown combo, crossover into grab etc). I find it far safer and more giving to go for the knockdown rather than the extra damage MGU or dreads might give.
I think many people play Deejay wrong in the sense that they think he’s a rushdown character. I play him quite the opposite, turtle it out with projectiles, AA with EX dreads/lk upkick. For air, j.fierce all day long… the only character I have some issues against are good ryus, because I mistime the crossup at times, giving them a free lp.dp…
also, cr.hk is one of your best tools, against jumpins.
EDIT: Also, having played a shitload of games today, it seems once you score two or so crossovers with knockdowns, most players get quite intimidated and just try to block your attacks until a window opens… its left me with all the time in the world to just dash in and grab them…
you can do a really late knee shot and get cl mk as well.
As for rog if they are dumb enough to full screen rush to get through a fireball you have to use the CH Fierce to juggle them into dread for about 300 dmg. i’ll make a video of it when i get out of my classes.
Also new rose videos going up soon.
