Dee Jay's New Low Crush

In other words ASS.

Look, dummy. This is AE 2012

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjO6Fl40T-M&feature=youtu.be

And this is Ultra.

Now, if I’m wrong about it feel free to correct me. Also, enjoy my executional errors.

this is not a new low crush at all. it was the same thing in AE, but it had longer low invincible frames due to the 12f start up.

now the i frames have been cut in half. So only 4f low invincible. Anything with a low of active frames will blow it up.

wishful thinking, but this will take a strong read to do.

I dont hate the positivity and all, but you new dudes jumping on the Deejay train a bit late, this shit sailed since ST, and was still bearable in AE2012 but USF4 is not the iteration you want to main Deejay in because you got too many good choices elsewhere. Even Dan looks more viable than Deejay now and thats saying something about the damn game.

I still use Deejay to shit all over the people who dont know the matchup, it doesnt mean he’s any better. Its like I had 6 or so tools to work with, now I am down to 4 (2 missing being l sobat and ex mgu).

I’m like 20/20 against all Deejay’s since picking up Rose. Stay free y’all.

I totally understand your somewhat negative outlook on the character, and I even understand that you think you are being helpful when you say there are other characters to select Etc. But I really think it’s too early to suggest that Deejay is complete trash in this game. New things are found out relatively often, and to disregard the nature of early onset discovery/rediscovery seems somewhat shortsighted. I want to play Deejay because he’s interesting, and I want to learn a new character. It’s kinda a shame that when I go to the place I would normally expect to find positive, helpful information, I instead find jaded, negative character specialists with a desire to draw LESS attention to their character, like that’s somehow going to broaden the knowledge base for Deejay.

Even if all of the changes are bad, or Deejay is less suitable for competitive play, you shouldn’t make more of an effort to discourage new players than you invest in actually developing new tech/strats with the Deejay we have now. It just seems so counterproductive and silly that it it makes me want to learn another character. Not because I don’t like Deejay, or I can’t make his design work, but because I don’t want to have to be bombarded by non-stop negativity and nonsense so early in the game’s growth.

Juri and Poison are so boss.

There’s a difference between being positive and being realistic, thus the Capcom Unity reference. No person is infallible but when arguing points with guys like Da Knut & Freej4y (and others) you’re talking to people who have put in documented man hours in the lab and road tested things.

Instead of doing goofy gipper speeches and coming in super late to the game calling others Negative Nancy, back it up with footage and results. Forget all the late game Deejay theory crafting. Show and prove is the best way to make a point as opposed to trying to refute tried and tested facts from reliable sources.

I’d love to see any of you new happy people FT10 Blackulas Rose. I think that would be a interesting place to start.

Blackula wants no part of my deejay. I am the only competent deejay in that match til proven otherwise.

Takes a lot of footsies and knowledge to beat rose. Sometimes that isn’t even enough and you gotta make hard reads, but that’s like all the deejay matchups lol

trust me ex mgu isn’t the answer for those far lows. only thing i can think of is whiff punishing with a sobat of your choice, but if they’re making you block it, then you have to hold it.

Oh, you mean, I should FT10 a good Rose player with my limited Deejay skillset/experience to help drive home these points? That’s bullsh*t. Simply expecting a less volatile community is not some attack on established character knowledge, or criticism toward the players that helped establish that knowledgebase. My point is that it’s hard for a new player to acclimate himself/herself to a new character when the character specific forum is full of jaded, angry, and outright belligerent players. New players are expected to have a limited understanding of the character, his match-ups and all sorts of high-level information. That’s exactly why I am here, trying to learn. My issue is that this environment is not in any way conducive to rapid knowledge acquisition due to the negativity of the playerbase.

From a complete outsiders view, the Deejay forum is just a clusterf*ck of pissed off character specialists. I am putting more time into practice mode and getting matches online/offline, learning as I go, than I am from here, mostly because trying anything new, in a new version of the game, is somehow a fruitless effort around here. It’s just mind boggling… I really like Deejay, it’s a freaking shame learning him is such a pain in the ass, made only more unrewarding by a playerbase that is more interested in complaining and deterring new players, than it is on redefining the techniques, setups, and match up information necessary to help spread information for established character specialists, AND for new players alike.

Maybe that’s your problem. If you consider yourself an outsider maybe you should tread carefully until you have information to refute peoples claims or feelings.

Those are the threads where you can get all types of great information on Deejay. It’s the same ones I use as a casual player. I can’t wait to see what new tech and tactics you new happy guys come up with that will shatter the Deejay reality as we all know it.

Frankly you’ve described every experience I’ve ever had with a character specific forum.

Basically this. Some characters forums are worse than others, but you gotta basically just roll with it, like DeeJay would lol.
I feel like as a new DeeJay player you might be better off asking questions about certain things, and just taking the advice you get along with whatever salt may come with, without paying to much attention to the salt.

^ This
Also Deejay general discussion and video thread have a fuck ton of info if you care to look through them (I never got around to doing that :()

it seems our information is like subconsciously unorganized because of lurkers.

our threads get so many views and no replies. That’s why there’s a deejay illuminati.

too many people trying to just reap the benefits without putting in the time.

problem here is there are no benefits to be reaped, but there must be a lot of ppl who like Deejay or think he could be good, but this is not the version lol

he could be an ok counterpick if you have problems against shotos tho.

deejay doesn’t have a low crush game anymore. i played him against a friend’s rolento yesterday and it just seemed like best way to play the ground game is to try to whiff punish with sobat. rolento’s cr. mk and st. mk are more than enough to harass deejay in neutral, then you have the far HK on top of of that. it’s how deejay’s buttons were in ST, all positive, all fast.

i even tried to be hopeful with ex mgu, got stuff EVERY time. It was better at 12f as far as i’m concerned. I’ve used it for throw invul twice, but it was against an abel so it was a soft read.

EX MGU is trash man. i think it should used the same way most should have used it in 2012, which is offensively.

You could try cool thing like catching crouch techs, but you have to do it super delayed instead of early like 2012, mistime it then get counterhit.

You can complain about the forums, but why don’t you try to fix it?

Just seems like people don’t want to see what’s right in front of them.

Collectively we’ve been in denial, thinking deejay is good. Smartest Deejay was hatrify, because he left, then da knut cause he picked up chun/guile. Slim, Kiba, and I stayed, but we’re just gluttons for punishment at this point.

I’m not feeling your story at all. We have resources here. The people that you are bitching about, did their homework and shared info/tech with the rest of the community. Guys like Slim, FreeJay and I took time to mentor other DJ players. I’ve even setup ft10 for other DJ players so that they can learn a matchup and hear my constructive criticism. If you ask a question, people will give you the information. However, telling veterans bullshit about a character that you don’t fully understand is silly. It’s the same shit I read on Eventhubs and Capcom Unity. It’s annoying as hell. We are tired of the bullshit . The best advice that I can give you or other new DJ players is to read, analyze videos and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Also check out Dialupslim on Twitch. His DJ is amazing and he uses a lot of tools that most of us don’t use.

You would be correct if it were any other character but my 4 years of experience with this character getting beat up at arcades to get to where I am tells me basically this is it for this character.

I scoured these forums for all the tasty tidbits I needed, stalked some Jamaican setups. Read through the old Deejay threads. I practiced playing as my bad matchups and was sick to my stomach how easy some characters are to win with compared to Deejay. Sick to my stomach that I invested years in a character that didn’t come to fruition. Don’t expect you to understand how the Capcom rape of Deejay is just sick and time and time again they reel us in and beat us up. Wins as Yun for example come so easy. And they didn’t even make him worse this version, how cool is that?

Like I said before, you wanna be a masochist or a glutton for punishment, you would do well to try and main him. The game engine has not changed so much that he would be doing some c viper shit anytime soon. This is NOT a new game, that’s a misconception you have. My advice for now? Switch or take your lumps and be optimistic til USF4 AE, and watch as he gets nerfed again.

This is from the general thread…but I put it here just to prove my point.
Why? Why do we have to wait it out and build three or more bars to possibly get out of a situation like this with RFA, Super or Ultra? Ex Machine Gun won’t work and lk sobat invincibility is now gone(even if we had the lk invincibility…not sure it would even beat her cr lp).
Really Capcom…just admit that you screwed up with Deejay and correct this shit for the upcoming full retail release. If you reverted him back to the Japanese arcade version of Ultra…we could work with that. Unless you do in fact plan to make edition select available (which I was originally against btw), you guys took the fun out of playing this character online.
