Waiting until after the dash doesn’t work. Charge is gone by then. I honestly think the frame where you have to hit the PPP is the frame before Dee Jay’s feet hit the ground. The way it works is after you do the input right there is a slight delay between when you hit PPP and when the ultra comes out.
Hilarious I told my brother this was the hardest link and he claimed it was the same as guiles and he could do it. He lost a 5 dollar bet when it took him 20 minutes to do it with Dee Jay once (just the dash-ultra lol). Then I tried guiles dash-U1 just to see and got it on the first try.
Fair enough, i see where you’re coming from. If it has worked well for you then by all means, I just couldn’t see it being useful in most situations. S.mp is all I’ve been using lately to stuff pretty much anybody and i’ve had no issues.
Agree on the far St.mp as AA. That move totally shuts down some characters jumping attacks and trades with the others, provided it’s spaced properly. Also good for Adon’s off the wall kick. Great for when you have no down charge.
I did it and happened to record it with inputs.

I should of made it into a separate video but I didn’t feel like encoding and uploading twice.
Anyway here’s my take on it. I noticed I wasn’t dashing when I was double tapping forward from a crouching position so now I use a focus attack. Basically it ends up looking like :r: (:mp::mk:) :r:. This allows me to get the dash as fast as possible. Not sure why I can’t dash otherwise. After the dash I just go straight to :db: to :ub: and :3p: when the dash ends. The hardest part for me now is not the motion but timing the :3p: at the end of the dash. I wouldn’t recommend practicing with Guile’s ultra 1 since Guile has a much faster dash. If you don’t know if you’re pressing :3k: too quickly or slowly, you can also try DJ’s dash super or ultra 1. Same timing but slightly different motions.
With the ex mg dash ultra, sometimes I find myself doing a special move instead when I try to dash with a FA (may be from negative edge) so many normal dashing might be better. After multiple tries, I think there’s no room for error. You have to dash right when ex mg finishes and you have to ultra right when the dash ends. Basically 2 1-frame links in a sense. I could be wrong on this but I’ve never seen Ryu any higher when activating ultra.
I can do ex mgu x walk x ultra 2 on nearly every character. The ones I can’t so far are Cody and Juri, I’ll keep experimenting with every other character.
Works:
Sakura
Blanka (Kinda weird timing)
Claw
Cammy
T.Hawk
Does not work on:
Cody
Juri
El Fuerte
Shotos (This still needs to be tested)
i remember testing it too, mid screen low jab ex mgu walk ultra 2 on almost everyone, the ones i remember are Dhalsim
Balrog
Abel
Ibuki
CViper
Vega
Cammy
THawk
Gen
Guy
Dan
ken
ryu
however you will never get a pointblank ex mgu on someone mid screen, even after a focus or a crossup or regular jump in push you back to far, and i only got that to work on like 3 characters.
but ive gotten dash ultra after ex mgu on the right side down to like 70%, and where if i miss it i get a standing or low fierce.
only the right side though, 8(
yeah i actually just watched that video im pretty sure.
im already back in training mode and i have gotten both jump in fierce > low strong > ex mgu > walk ultra 2 and Focus crumple > low strong > ex mgu > walk ultra 2 on;
Ryu
Dhalsim
and well those are the only two ive tried so far
yeah i just tested and there is no way it works on cody or juri, they just fall too far back. you cant even do point blank ex mgu to walk ultra. but with the other characters that you can, im pretty sure you can combo it from a jump in or focus into 1X low jab or low strong into ex mgu > walk ultra 2.
meaning:
Dhalsim
Balrog
Abel
Ibuki
CViper
Vega
Cammy
THawk
Gen
Guy
Dan
ken
ryu
Sakura
Blanka (Kinda weird timing)
all of them, but i have only fully tested abel dhalsim ryu gen and guy
More testing with walk ultra:
Dhalsim
Balrog
Abel
Ibuki
CViper
Vega
Cammy
THawk
Gen
Guy
Dan
ken
ryu
Sakura
Blanka
Akuma
Rose
Seth
Hakan
M.Bison
Zangief
Gouken
Chun-Li
Rufus
Dudley
Makoto
Sagat
Does not work on:
Cody
Juri
Adon
E.Honda
Fei Long
Guile
El fuerte
Woot, so I just managed to perform it in training mode after a hundred tries or so. At first all I did was practice the U2 motion (db[2], f, df, d, bf, b, ub, 3p; [edit] after some playing around, I found that for myself, simply doing db[2], f, db, ub, 3p was easier as I didn’t have to grow concerned about messing up rotations) enough to note that you want to be pressing 3p pretty much a split second after your stick has made the full 270 rotation to prevent a back jump. After that I simply practiced the dash ultra by making sure the end of the dash animation coincided with the end of the 270, and I believe this is the part that causes everyone trouble; end the motion too fast before the dash animation ends makes it so the subsequent 3p (thus leaving a gap in between) doesn’t register as part of the ultra command… end the motion to slowly and U2 simply comes out too late, hit 3p too late and you’ll jump instead. Maybe I’m just having a good night and I’ll lose all my mojo comes tomorrow but I can perform it 1/3rd of the time atm~
I suggest you all break it down the way I did~ Definitely helped me!
I haven’t checked in here for awhile because I ended up not putting as much time into DeeJay as I had expected I would. Is there anything that’s been posted recently that should be added into the OP?
i main deejay, so im definitely gonna try this out. the motion is almost like the “circle” motion when you try those down forward down up ultras. because if its like that it should be easy to do.
