If it’s safe on block, yeah I’m sure it would be. I’m really just going off of how it looks in the pic. That does not look like a knockdown from a sweep, Rufus looks like he is being launched.
Anti-air sweep into ultra? I wouldent mind DJ being the charge version of Rufus. 101 easy ways to get that ultra.
I’d like to see ex dread kicks not knock down but get like +4 on hit so dee jay could get a mini loop. There wouldn’t be any reason to do it more than once but c.HP > ex dread kicks > c.jab c.strong rh dread kicks would be sick.
Knowing the way sf4 currently works you could probably mash a dp in between dread kicks lol
Where have you been? MGU in ST was so freaking lethal it would dizzy if you were able to get all of the hits to come out.
is dee jay totally a charge character? it’s such a terrible question i know…but some of his movements don’t look like your average charge character.

Yeah, he is. His projectile is essentially sonic boom, his upkicks are like flash kick. MGU is flash kick pressing punch.
Was the opening part of his Max Out that huge in other games? Also, am I the only one hoping that the opening part of it works as an anti air that you can juggle into Ultra?

Also yeah, if he’s anything like ST, he should have some easy ultra starts. Like, as in, mk upkicks either as AA or comboed, into an Ultra juggle at the least, maybe it could even catch. I also really hope he keeps the forward upkicks>roundhouse upkicks combo, although I don’t think it would work on this engine. I bet they’ll give him something like vega’s upkick>EX upkick.
Oh and my guess is that that isn’t a c.RH juggle, but a remodeled lk upkicks, his foot is just up way too high for that to be a sweep.

Anyways, like I said before, I bet that thing launching rufus is his lk upkick. He always had that hand planted while he was doing it in ST, his angle just looks lower now.

The first pic is the start up of his RH Up Kick in SSF4. The second pic is the first frame of it hitting. Third pick is short up kick from ST. Short up kick has always been identical to the first hit of the other versions. Of course since this game is done with 3D models instead of sprites, they are more at liberty to change this. But I’m putting my money on this being a new move(be it special or command normal).

Looking at that, I can’t see it being short up kick. It looks more like that spinning move that break dancers and capoeiristas do, like a spinning sweep with both legs.
I hope he still has his crazy cross up potential. In HDR (sorry, I didn’t play him in ST… Too busy spamming Hadokens), I loved cross up j.mk, c.jab, c.jab, upkicks (and juggle upkicks or super depending on the character).
He’s such a fun character to use. I hope they at least keep that about him. Even if he isn’t top tier, as long as he’s still fun, I’ll use him.
Do you think he’ll have the Machine Gun Upper will have that projectile nullifying property? That would be pretty killer against Sagat and Akuma… Just sitting around nullifying Shakunetsu Hadokens.

I’m considering switching my main to Dee Jay, he’s just way too awesome. Jamaican, dreads, AND THOSE PANTS! In ST and HD Remix was he an aggressive styler character or a turtle like Guile?
I played him pretty aggressively. After a knockdown, I usually went for cross up mix ups. He can play pretty defensively, but I don’t think he’s particularly a keep away character.
