Dee Jay Match Up Thread - A New Beginning?

You know what sucks about stand teching?  Eating the sweep when you guess wrong, while everybody else doesn’t have to think.  Deejay makes me angry not because of what he lacks, but because 80% of his opponents take so much less thinking and care when facing him… but their tactics pay off more.<br>

Man… I hate losing fireball wars with Dee Jay

rog is a very fair matchup…work really hard on hitting him with a fireball every time he loses charge. The chip dmg helps and if he’s focusing them, oh well hes still full screen and you can continue maxing out your meter.<br><br>sweep beats TAP and aa’s his jump really well too. if you use lk sobat as a poke be extremely wary of your spacing or you’re gonna be eating cr. rh whiff punishes all day. your optimum footsie range seems to be at the very tip of lk sobat range and st. mk. <br><br>i don’t like to use ex maxout that much but its not bad for creating space this match if you’re stuck in that red zone near the corner<br><br>mk upkicks if you’re desperate to escape corner pressure<br>

Gotta be careful with upkicks though. He can jab you out of them and even worse, he can heatbutt you for infinity more scare factor. <div><br></div><div>I don’t like ex air slasher just because of how open you are to Balrog’s jump forward Hp. Even if he trades he still wins.</div>

this may seem like a dumb question, but what can deejay reliably do against abels u2? if hes close enough midscreen, ill just hk upkicks to the other side… but if my back is to the wall is it really just some stupid bullshit gimmicky guessing game …?

Am I the only one who uses counter hit cr mp -> st mk x sobat kicks?

No, but I hardly get the opportunity. I like to use that as a frame trap. I don’t know why people get hit by that

Can I get some tips on the guy matchup. I faced a really good one the other day and I kept getting blown up. His vertical medium kick even trades with my knee shot!

Google Doc good stuff! Just what I needed to get back on the DJ Train (Went to Cammy for a while…DJ is just so much work lol). Question: Can DJ do anything to punish Akuma Teleports? (Say after a forward throw, cross up jump mk that would force a wiff DP…) or is this just a match up where you have to ground game Akuma to the corner?

Also, same question for Rose / Chun Backdashes. Against those two I always felt if they want out on wake up jump ins, dash and out! Forces me to stick to meaty wake up game grounded unless chun is in the corner…

You can empty jump guy after a knock down!

You can knock down akuma,meaty slide and jump and follow his teleport, if you do it right, you can auto correct u1 or something. Its stil in progress.

Your best option against akuma is to push him to the corner. Dj can out footsie him there. The only tool Akuma would be able to use is st hk, but thats if you’re too close.

I’ll try out your Akuma chase down setup. If this off a forward throw or a crouch mk?

try either one its been awhile since i tried it.
