I’ll more than likely be there. Maybe my AE Ryu will be solid by then

I see no KOF13

I need a rule list for that game.

Get with Saisyu Kusanagi, DeMo or Shiki on that, more than positive they know. Probably something a long the lines of 3 v 3, both can change order but winner can’t change team, double elim, random stage select, ps3? Nobody has given reason for any characters to be banned yet (which I don’t see happening considering how bs K’ and Raiden were in the arcade version and weren’t banned).

Default is:

3v3
60 sec rounds
Winner cannot change team or order
Loser can change anything

I guess right now Saiki and Billy can be allowed as no major problems have come up with them.
PS3 is the preferred system for most KOF players.
The issue of 3/5 finals has come up in the past. Like in CvS2, most tournaments have gone with 2/3 finals simply because of how long the game takes. This isn’t a hard rule, but something that is left up to the discretion of the tournament organizer who can judge their own schedule and resources. If you feel you have the time, then you can do it, but 2/3 Winner/Loser/Grand tournaments have been done, or you could decide to do 2/3 Winner/Loser and 3/5 Grand if you feel like it, but right now there’s no hard standard.

so is 3v3/60 seconds default settings? Cause I just run games on default (listed in the general rules) unless otherwise noted (listed in the game specific rules). Also we just ran KOF XIII yesterday as part of our ranbats and it definitely brought back memories of CvS2 with how damn long it takes to finish. We were able to finish up grand finals in UMvC3 with a 3-1 first set (reset) and a 3-0 second set, in the same time it took to do a 2/3 in KOF XIII. 7 matches in UMvC3 = 2 matches in KOF XIII. Unless we have the time just assume KOF will be 2/3 for finals.

Yes, 3v3/60 seconds is the default setting in the menu.

I was only pointing it out because there’s been some situations at KOF tournaments where people ran matches on 99 seconds and I didn’t realize it until after a few games.

I think KoF 2/3 finals works because it’s running on 3v3 (like CVS styled). Although grand finals I am in favor of IF there is time 3/5 but like I said it seems it will be a learning experience. Maybe you can ask Tactiks about it since he will be running a KoF13 tournament a week before and see what works best for grand finals or how long this stuff takes. I really don’t know but glad Shiki was here to clear it up since he’s pretty OG KoF (if I recall?)

Game takes long enough without increasing the time.

Well I’ll be at ReSe so I’ll just see first hand.

speaking of cvs2, drop all games for just cvs2

Every game takes long when it’s new because people don’t know how to do combos/hit people yet. I remember this even being said for Hokuto no Ken when we started playing it. You should laugh now if you know anything about Hokuto no Ken. That said, a KOF match will take longer on average than something like Marvel for sure, as it’s 3vs3 one at a time, potentially 5 “rounds”…but it’s not CvS2 either.

I think finals in KOF should be 3/5. 2/3 is kinda crazy. At that point in the tournament, the matches should be a good bit faster.

I’m interested in this, but (aside from no Tekken :() that 2am ending makes me hesitate. I’ve heard that these tend to run late, and I’d rather not be getting home at 5am (would be coming from Charleston, SC).

Is there a guesstimate on when this would wrap up?

  1. Tekken 6 is being hosted
  2. I thought we got rid of that rep awhile ago. All of our tournaments have been wrapping up around 10-11PM. There was one tournament way back in July where we ended it at 2AM but we’ve long since improved our scheduling and haven’t made those same mistakes since.

I would still like to see a 3/5 GF, but 2/3 WF and LF sounds ok.

I don’t even think 10 or 11 unless you mean in November dude. I specifically recall it wrapping up around 9 maybe 10 for the last game at the latest because I always had tons of casuals afterward, get home around 12ish and go to a bar with my crew. Though yea definitely everythings been managed great. I’m only entering two games this time around so i’ll help out with the arcana tournament as per usual.

Do we know if flames iori is banned yet since nobody else in the USA is banning him or are you just gonna leave it up to everyone?

Yeah we have been wrapping up around 9-10 but it’s to allow yourself more time so it’s easier to satisfy expectations. Also I thought I already stated I’m cool with them being legal as long as we have the systems with them on it.They’re not banned in the rules.

Oh I thought you said “i’m cool with it only if other people are”

Well, then you’ll have a minimum of 3 systems with him on it atleast which should be more than enough.

Equipment List and this is assuming Seventh doesn’t bring anything

3 PS3s, 3 KoF 13s with Flames Iori, a Tekken 6, and an Arcana Hearts 3, and if Seventh brings his that’s another KoF/ah3/Tekken 6 (most likely).

WE ARE STARTING AT 2:30 AT THE LATEST, IF YOU ARE GOING TO SHOW UP LATE THEN PLEASE CALL IN SO WE CAN ADD YOU TO THE BRACKETS AHEAD OF TIME. NO MORE OF THAT BS WHERE PEOPLE SHOW UP LATE JUST BECAUSE THEY ASSUME WE’RE GOING TO START LATE ANYWAYS, THAT’S THE ENTIRE DAMN REASON WHY THINGS START LATE IN THE FIRST PLACE. SO DON’T COME LATE WITHOUT CALLING IN EXPECTING TO BE ADDED TO THE BRACKETS, WE WILL LEAVE YOU BEHIND. THE NUMBER IS IN THE TOURNAMENT THREAD.

Wish I could make it, but couldn’t get off work. Soon…Fayetteville
