TWO VERY IMPORTANT THINGS
[LIST=1]
[]Please park on the street and not in their parking lot. Our contract has a clause which prohibits us from parking in their parking lot because it is very small. IF YOU HAVE SETUPS, message me first for my phone number, and you can call me when you get there, park in their parking lot, and we will help you unload so you can park on the street after.
[
]SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS. If you do buy food or drink from them, give me the receipts because our venue will get a small credit (not allowed to say the amount) towards the cost of renting out the room. (If you just want to purchase snacks to contribute to the venue, I suggest instead buying the food and drinks we will be bringing, because the profits come directly to helping the venue.)

BASIC INFORMATION

Games played - You may bring any game you want to play casuals, but personally, I only have AE and UMvC3, and I’m terrible at both.

Fee - ***THERE IS NO FEE, free to play casuals so roll on through! ***I will be paying the venue out of pocket until there is enough interest in the tournaments/donations to keep it afloat. HOWEVER, I will be bringing reasonably priced snacks and drinks, and 100% of the profits go towards securing the venue costs and $$ towards future equipment (monitors/tv’s, consoles, games, loaner sticks, etc). I will be keeping receipts and a clean record of everything financial that has to do with this event, so if you want to see it, or you have questions about where the money goes, I will be happy to provide you with that information. Let me know what kind of snacks or drinks you might be interested in making a donation for Both credit card and cash donations will be accepted, so don’t need to go get cash beforehand if that is a hassle.

Tournaments - There will be weekly (depending on interest) tournaments in Marvel, and if there is more interest in other games, I will see what I can do. I want your input on the type of tournaments you guys want.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE - PLEASE READ

Weekly Tournaments are going to be $5 entrance fee to keep it doable for everyone. The prize breakdown is VERY DIFFERENT than conventional tournaments, so bear with me and read the whole thing.

If there are fewer than 15 players, there will simply be a 50/33/17 split.

Otherwise, our tournament structure applies.

The tournament is STILL double elimination, however the seeds will be determined by rating (discussed later) instead of random seed.

Each tier has a protected prize pool, and top 3 places in each tier get prizes.

Breakdown: $5 = $2 donation to venue cost + $3 to pool
Prizes:
1st place - 50%
2nd place - 33.33%
3rd place - 16.66%

EXAMPLE PAY OUT:
30 people in the tournament:
Open Section:
1st - $30
2nd - $20
3rd - $10

The big question: How do you determine tiers???

I have implemented a rating system that follows players as they play more tournaments with us. Of course the first few tournaments will have to be POST-tournament rating awarded, but future tournaments (after ratings have normalized a bit) will be PRE-tournament rating awarded.

For those of you familiar with chess ratings, it follows closely with the ELO rating system.

That being said, if you intend to play in the tournament, bring a photo ID so that we can make sure you are who you claim to be! (NO SAND BAGGING PLEASE!)

Streaming - STREAMING EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN PURCHASED. Picked up a PVR to stream, EQ has been setup and tested, so stream will be live on!www.twitch.tv/SanDiegoFGC

Equipment List: (message me or post here if you can bring anything and I will update) If your equipment is verified on the list by me, you are qualified for a discounted tournament price ($3) in which we simply waive the part of the tournament fee that goes to paying the venue (since you are contributing to the venue). Please check with me first and message me!

Venue will provide tables + chairs

We have 6 Asus Monitors + 5 PS3’s and a stream Station!

How YOU can help
Even though casuals are free, donations are always accepted! If you don’t feel like donating, buy some snacks or drinks, or maybe even a T-Shirt! And as always, SPREAD THE WORD!

Any questions please do not hesitate to ask me!

Do you host tournaments for other games as well? or Only AE and UMvC3? I am thinking about coming down to play AE causally, but I have been looking for a local place to play VF5 FS, DOA5 or Guilty Gear xx Accent Core plus.
