This. A 1-character training demo is barely anything to go by, it’s trying to judge the first mortal kombat based on johnny cage alone. Other than that, the demo’s great. The graphics are great, the controls are kind of slow but that could just be my computer, it recognizes my gamepad which is good. I do find it hard to combo with plasma, which might be something to worry about. We shall see.
Look, I’m just giving a first impression which is the point of a demo right? The graphics are ugly. The gameplay could be changed up, that’s a distinct possibility. But the fact that it’s running on Multimedia Fusion killed any interest I had in it. There’s a reason why you do not see commercial games using this engine. No way in hell you’re going to see online play either.
MMF fully supports online play. I would know since I purchased and use on a regular basis MMF2 Developer. It does require some knowhow with Moo or Lacewing and knowledge of ports and whatnot, i’m not sure you know what you’re talking about. Also, if you make an MMF app and it has slowdown, you’re doing it wrong. It relies directly on the skill of the developer to avoid issues like that. If you have issues with it being MMF, that’s fine, but that’s no basis to call it a terrible game and you’re better off just leaving this topic.
I’m not going to lie, there are issues shown in the demo that should probably be reconsidered like the crouching thing mentioned above, there are issues the developer made that could be addressed, but don’t blame it on the engine.
Isn’t that how Mortal Kombat works? Regardless, it doesn’t seem like crippling flaw to me.
The only thing that really seems like a problem with the demo, to me – and it is a big problem – is the slowness. It’s not so much that they need to up the overall speed… it feels like it has performance issues. It seems like the framerate wavers, and the jumps feel like they’re underwater. I worry about whether or not they’ll be able to fix this.
I approve of the graphics/visual style.
EDIT: you can pass through the other character by dashing forward repeatedly
I didn’t like this demo. Everything was so slow. The movement, jumping and even the dash was slow. Not a fan of crouching having startup. That’s a wtf for me. Graphics were meh. I can do without the digital actors and the look being make everything look as dark as possible.
hey whenever i run the demo P1 always just jumps back and none of the directions are working for some reason. i have TE sticks plugged in and the attack buttons work though. anyone else have this problem?
EDIT: nevermind, got it to work
and yeah, i could see this having potential, if they completely changed almost everything about it lol oh well, it’s not even a first demo, so we’ll see how it goes
Honestly to be a mere tech demo i find it interesting, combo system has some potential but for now who knows, at least it was a much better experience that i though.
Okay dude, try and take the high road and show a typical Sonic fan game using sprites from other games that has easy to spot issues. That totally legitimizes MMF2 (which sounds like a gangbang term when you think about it) as a real commercial program, and lets Necrostorm charge for their shoddy little fighter. If the game was built with let’s say MUGEN it would have a good chance, they could plug in any mechanic they want. They couldn’t sell it though due to the license agreement. But I doubt you’ll see anything really advanced in a MMF2 fighter.
Edit: I’ll put it like this. I’m not hoping the game fails or anything. I’m just saying it doesn’t look good so far.
Okay dude, say the video has easy to spot issues and don’t actually say what the issues are, that just makes your argument look retarded.
Your post has issues, but i won’t say what they are, cause they’re easy to spot, amirite?
Not bothering with your argument at all. You make a lot of bold claims in your post but refuse to post any evidence backing it up, making your opinion simply an opinion, nothing close to fact.
of course that it doesnt look good, as far as we know this demo doesnt have all the features intended for the game, hell perhaps its not running in the fighting game engine either (hitstun, pushback, physics and all other stuff, like the character behavior when doing air normals, etc, etc)
Okay… in the video there’s an obvious FPS drop, possible jumping issues, and the transition between oldschool Genesis Sonic sprites to GBA sprites needs a little work. Would you like an essay on a sonic fan game? Because it seems like you’d like that? I don’t know about you but I’d like to talk about this game.
Really? REALLY? That’s all you can come up with? In your post you’re saying Multimedia Fusion is to blame for Death Cargo not being a success, yet in your post right there THREE of your FOUR main points can be attributed to developer incompetence, NOT the fault of the engine. So the only argument you have is an FPS Drop which occurs in all games no matter what engine they’re on, its the developers job to get that FPS stable, something even major companies like Sony have a difficult time doing. Get out of town, MMF isn’t to blame for anything, and in your prior post you were saying it was? L. O. L.
Moving on, the demo’s not bad, but definitely not great either. Technically this isn’t even the first official demo, so we’ll wait and see. One thing’s for sure though, this aint gonna be released by Christmas.
Noitu Love 2 is a better example at showing what MMF2 can do. I haven’t used a ClickTeam product in years though (used to mess with CNC and TGF way back) so no clue on how it’d be for fighting games.
Already came up with a nifty combo, but still no luck with discovering deathrips (if they are even active). I do like the idea for the game and I think it has an enormous amount of potential. As far as I’m concerned, the gameplay speed and “underwater” feel will probably go away since in their latest videos they’re displayed as being run very smoothly.
Plasma Combo (if you’re interested):
Assuming right side default button layout a-la 360 pad (a, b, x, y, etc…)
s.A, s.A, s.A xx 214 A, s.X, 236 X.
So simple. Cant find anything to combo off of the giant plasma fist yet though.
