I distinctly remember saying 3 years ago when the first screens were revealed that this game looked like hot garbage. But the joke was on me: there was never a game to begin with.

I’ve always hoped this game would fall into the “so bad it’s good” category. I mean, say what you want about the game or necrostorm, the music to Death Cargo was awesome.
Basically what you said is most likely true, after realizing what kind of a money pit they had on their hands, they decided to conduct a scam, using contributing funds to run their online promotion, images, beta, and finally pocketed the rest.

LOL I pretty much still own and play all the popular fighting games one way or another, even the indie ones.
Although I prefer the Vs. Capcom style fighting games than I do any other, for some strange reason Death Cargo has managed to intrigue me.

Are Necrostorm going to pre-emptively refund everybody who paid because the game is not released yet?
No. They’re going to hold onto that as long as they can. Probably have a binder full of steps like this 48 hour download queue and code generation that they used before.
Every buyer won’t contact and process their refund, like others have said, even if its near instant with a snide, “never come back” attached because they are upset some of their nest egg was cut into.
Customer: Why did I have to get a refund, any word on the game coming out or reasons for the delay then, so I can buy later when its ready?
