Director Justin Simien brings you a political social satire on race in America.
A satire that follows the stories of four black students at an Ivy League college where a riot breaks out over a popular ‘African American’ themed party thrown by white students. The film opens in theatres on October 17th.
Believe me when I say I have family both black and white and there’s 1 confirmed bigot in my family. And that person is indeed BLACK. I’m tired of hearing that damn lie over and over. Other than that line I’m cool with the movie.
My friends and I were at one of those free food events at college and they were serving fried chicken, watermelon, cornbread and all sorts of summer picnic foods. White guy says “Man isn’t this kind of racist? These are foods that black people stereotypically like”. The coordinator looked at him and said “You know who else enjoys eating these during the summer? EVERYONE”. I never understood the whole zeroing in on watermelon and fried chicken…or even grape juice/soda/drank/whatever. All of that is fucking tasty.
I like how “POC/minority people can’t be racist” or “women can’t be sexist”. Let’s just say you’re right. “Reverse racism” doesn’t exist and “reverse sexism” doesn’t exist (yeah because “real racism” and “real sexism” only works in one direction. Love the language play there.). Let’s just accept that for now.
Does that somehow mean you’re not a giant piece of shit of a human being for judging someone for their skin colour/sex?
This movie looks garbage, but I will ofc download because Snake Doctor is in it and he is worth a watch no matter what piece of shit he sullies his name with these days.
