Or instead of a meaty, do a delayed attack, so if they wakeup SRK you block it, and if they don’t you can keep the pressure on. Of course, this loses to delayed SRK… but thats Yomi.
I just thought meaties were always the best thing to do. Since making this thread I now know that if I’m fighting a shoto or sagat to watch for this. Now that I’ve been watching for it I’ve been doing much better.
Now I’m just trying to deal with shoryuken spammers. These guys just hammer them out no matter what’s happening to then. They pull them off between my own jabs sometimes, it’s nuts.
Hey, let’s get some practice in on the ps3 sometime.
all you have to do is bait/block/punish… seriously.
The rest of your problems lies in you, practice, get a better grasp on the game.
Also, another tool to put in your tool box:
Learn how to whiff a light attack so that you fully recover JUST before they can reversal you.
A great example is I do this a lot with Bison. His crouch short is fast as shit, so I’ll knock a guy down (or forward throw him, anything that gets you an untechable knockdown) and then walk up like I’m going to do a scrubby and OBVIOUS throw on his wakeup.
At the very last second, I’ll crouch and whiff one crouch short so that it recovers before he can reversal me.
That is going to bait out a LOT of mashing DPs…then you punish with whatever you want.
Be careful though, they will catch onto this and probably try to throw you…so be ready to late tech.
Doing a jumping lk and landing right outside from jab range has been working sometimes to bait them out.
The lag lately has been horrible though, I haven’t had a good game in days.
stop sucking and falling for stupid shit. simple.
make them fall for it (ie bait them)
you’re thinking too hard. sometimes the answer is just as simple as “i’m a dumbass”
Welcome to the newbie forum, tanabe. Are you new here aswell? I’m sure all of us here will appreciate your helpful input.
As a general rule, in SF, you don’t mess with the guy on the ground. It’s not set in stone, bc sometimes you can capitalize on a punish that’s based on baiting a wakeup situation. But in 4, srks are way too braindead an input for people to not use them, whenever applicable.
Try and set up a goal for fighting against wake up shoryus. For ex:
Try to figure out what prompts a given opponent to do a wake up srk to you,-- for instance, your meaty attempts. Now try to trick them into doing a wakeup srk, then beatemup. That’s the backbone-- you have to make them think twice before doing it, and in the time they’re thinking about it, you can be doing your meaty or your x-up attempt, etc.
from the sd thread.
just saying dawg…
imo, you’re making this way too complicated.
Many crossups beat wakeup shoryu
Can’t believe I made this thread. None of the posts even seem familiar. I couldn’t even FADC!
shout outs to slappy for putting me on blast! good shit. it’s very humbling to see where you were as a player not so long ago. there is something to be learned here for sure.
My problem though was all timing in regards to my meaties and cross ups. I was always doing them too early or too late, I had to learn that sweet spot (if any newbies find this thread through searches). I also didn’t have a very good sense of baiting when fighting a character you can’t meaty very well, it took me a while to figure it out.
And that concludes this episode of “Scrubs: Where are they now?”
The answer lies in the crossup you jump calibrating your jump so that they get punished and you don’t get damage since the shoryu if done correctly will wiff you go in the other way and when invicibility frames end it get it
other char like ibuki and akuma can throw air projectile and getting hitted
safest method is block and punish by the way
not all character can capitalize from a knockdown
for all those who say safe jump and so on it’s crap since safe jump mean be in the hitbox zone of your opponent on the first frame of their wakeup and on the last frame of your move
and since youo take at least 3 frame to recover if math is not an opinion 3+1 (active) still more of 3 that a shoryu take to start up (not all char you need to read frame list for this ) so there’s no way you can really safe-jump character like ryu that take 3 frame with even some invincibility frame at the start. You’ll simply eat em.
btw. Block and punish is the easiest way.
Bait, then punish!
If he does it a lot, bait the DP and then punish - easy. Or, if like Guile, you have a normal that can stuff a DP, you could use that. Guile’s is j.lp
Meaty it.
While shoryuken has some immunity, you just have to use a move with even more immunity, By example honda ex headbutt beats every kind of shoryuken but ex and is 100% safe on block. EX butt splash also works and is safe even against ultras (you pass through) but if the opponent crouches is a total whiff and can be punished. Beating shoryuken clean is the ultimate wake up mind screw, they will not shoryuken again and you can oicho next time.
Just blocking don’t works because someone good will FADC and follow with a throw, run away or another shoryuken.
I also love to do an ultra in their wake up but is risky as hell, so don’t use it without training your opponent before (eat something at their wake up before).
If they shoryuken and FADC and you block it, thats considered a win; they just burned 2 meters. You dont have to do damage to come out advantageous in a situation.
As for doing ultra on somebody else waking up… yeah, don’t do that
Cross up mk will beat jab dragon punch at least, that’s what they all do they don’t use mp dp which is the best AA for Ryu and Ken. I don’t know who you’re playing though.
None of you realize that this thread is old
That depends of what happens after the FADC, having a Ryu in your face with frame advantage is usually a bad thing.
Wake up shoruyken is an atemporal classic.
