The first tournament I participated in was a disaster. I couldn’t pull off anything and my execution was terrible. It was shear nerves that killed me, and I know I could’ve done a million times better if I hadn’t been so nervous. I obviously got bodied and went 0-2 in that tournament.
So my question is, what are some ways you guys handle tournament pressure? Any helpful tips that may aid some newcomers to the tournament scene, such as myself?
Alright, I’ll need to go into some back story for this:
In my area, we hardly have a scene for FGs, so the majority of my training came from online. I do have another friend who has SF who is in my area but I consistantly beat him so it isn’t the best offline practice around. I still practice all my combos in Training mode first. But I got quite used to train by playing ranked matches or Endless with really good players.

Stop giving a fuck about everything and just play. Take winning off of the pedestal and chill the fuck out. Sounds a bit harsh, true, but once you ground yourself in a bit of reality, nerves don’t exist anymore. There’s nothing on the line, there’s really nothing of value for you to lose in the end (unless you’re money matching).
Also, play more offline.
