Dealing with the twins in AE

HOLY HELL TWINS PLUS FRAMES. WUT

to the yang at family fun arcade, i would like my 5 dollars in quarters back of losses :stuck_out_tongue:

Using far st fierce against a far away dive kick will trade if done too early, but the trade is still in your favor. Also for using tap against ex lunge punch, I recommend that you FADC afterwards to avoid mixup or apply pressure because -2 for rog is worse than +1 for yun. I feel like posting random notes I make after each time I go out to Round 1. Fighting 50 yuns is getting pretty depressing…

So after dealing with the Yun, I must say the matchup is much harder than I expected.

looks like you can ONLY beat ex.lunge with reaction ex.hb, super and Ultra; everything else seems to trade in his favor. It doesn’t have invincibility on startup, if he’s grounded you can jab him or grab him out of startup, it’s mostly invincible during it’s airborne frames.

Yun’s dive kick is easily stuffed with cr.mp, Yang’s seems harder to stuff clean, jab has worked more than not.

Yang’s divekick seems harder to stuff for me as well. TAP can kill Yang’s u2 on startup

Yang’s U2 doesn’t have any invincibility if i’m not mistaken, so <insert move here> should beat it. I think it’s main use is as an AA and for projectiles.

Cannot play too reckless yet, but it’s looking like turtling ftw. I’m finding the twins to be annoying, but FEI to be the cheap of cheaps.

So you can only hit with overhead if they are standing and not blocking, then you can go into crouching light or crouching strong. If they are crouching, the only thing that hits is crouching roundhouse. With yun, I could atleast time the crouching strong so that it would force him to block it, but with yang for whatever reason the crouching strong wouldnt even come in contact with his hitbox. Also a recommendation, when they crouch they are so low to the ground, if you are jumping in from a close range make sure to use jumping roundhouse to hit down more than length wise. I still havent had much success against dive kicks. I try to option select c.lp, c.lk. c.hp after a blocked dive so they cant keep diving in on me, but that hasnt been working too good.

Well against Fei, if you get a good read you also get a solid punish. Against Yun you can get a perfect read and you still won’t have any good options… Or at least we haven’t discovered them yet. :stuck_out_tongue:

I found that you have to play in an extreme for either offense or defense and commit to one. I find that being super aggressive makes the fight easier because yun’s defensive game is a little lacking, but there’s still the up kicks to worry about but that can be easily read. Mix up your offense with tick throws and frame traps and the fight should be over quick. Cl. Strong is an amazing frame trap as you can link into cr jab (2f) and go into ex upper afterwards and follow up for a knockdown and very good damage.

Defense however is a lot scarier because of yun’s dive kick pressure and broken command grab. There’s just way too much to worry about and its hell trying to turtle, but its doable. Having the life lead and anti air game is essential for survival, and using tap to avoid ex lunge punch is actually very helpful. I actually recommend using jab headbutt as an anti air rather than normals because yun can change his dive kick timing, so chances are your normals can get stuffed or punished on recovery. Even though the headbutt will trade most of the time( which is incredibly stupid) the trade is in your favor as you can ultra or super afterwards, or just reset the situation.

I agree with the turtle game and rush game. You really have to feel the person on how there gonna play there yun and I found out that you either have to do one. Ive been using the turtle game to keep my distance, I’ve notice once he’s in Yun has the slighter advantage especially with the ridiculous command throw mixups.

Scratch what i said using fierce as an anti-air, its ass. The only effective way to shut down his dive kick game is to st. jab him out of it. Jump back fierce also saves lives, but dont put yourself into the corner or else you’re dead.

Yun divekick: 15F hitstun / 9F blockstun, 0/-6 at highest point vs Ken

Yang divekick: 16F hitstun / 12F blockstun, +3/-1 at highest possible point vs Ken, unpunishable on block at any height (unless a tall character where it would be about -3 or -4 at highest point on block)

You are correct, good sir. Absolutely no invinc.

Thanks for that info Dustlooper!

It’s no problem. I’m just kinda scannin’ through this thread because I bloody suck at the Rog/Bison/Chun match-ups. Looking at that list just suggest I need to work on footsies, I guess. But, just lookin’ for reverse match-up stuff. If there’s general questions about the twins, I’ve been in the lab with them for a week or so now. Maybe I can help.

sure, if you have a psn I can help you with the Rog MU.

Chun is a pain. You have to get her in the corner and keep her there.

Bison is annoying. If he keeps going for cr.lk into sk pressure, block and hit him with cr.st and make him respect that shit.

i’m going to thread jack and ask that this discussion be moved to the matchup thread. :[ i’ve pored through the forum looking for tidbits of info for specific character matchups and its a pain in the ass, i promise. So we can save whoever decides to look for info on the twins, by having it all in one place

^agreed

posted a fat chunk of matchup stuff in the thread, far from complete
