Awesome movie
. I only know of Deadpool from his early Xforce appearances from the early 1990s, but I enjoyed it as a “newbie”
Pros:
So many good jokes.I liked their wide range of subjects from xmen to mundane.
Action was awesome
The credits sequence and the small “hallucination” at the final battle
Colossus was awesome. Good accent, design./personality. Was on screen for more than 5 seconds and had more dialogue than all his time in the main x-films.
Negasonic was great too. Her powers seem more Cannonball ish IMO. the actress sold it.
Music choices and the “Deadpool” rap
the nature of the Stan Lee cameo - nothing is sacred lol
Con
Ajax and Angel Dust were just ok.
IMO right now I find it equal to First Class. I consider DOFP, Deadpool, First Class, and X2 as "Excellent " tier.
IT’s funny how Fox released one of the worst comic movies of all time just 6 months ago, and one of the best right now.
IF you like comedy/action, see it.
IF you hate Fox Marvel movies, see it.
I like that youre showing deadpool love, but thats quite the shitty opinion to have.
First class is far from excellent, and in now way comparable to the greatness of deadpool. No way.
DOFP had me hype as fuck the first go through, and the latter watches were okay, eventually just another boring xmen movie that i couldnt see through the first time because i was too excited for the sentinels and quicksilver.
X2 was great for its moment in time. It didnt age bad though. I guess maybe one could say it was excellent in its own way
Deadpool is leagues above all those movies, especially first class, and DOFP. Deadpool had half the budget of even x2, and a third of the budget of first class, but managed to be this bad ass.
Imagine if deadpool had a 150 million dollar budget. This movie wouldve been insane with that budget, which im sure it will have next time.
**Deadpool just set the bar. Low budget comic book movie, that made every other comic book movie look like shit, and not just because it was r rated. Now its like, okay, you have a 200 million dollar budget, but besides over paying actors, what can you bring to the table.
Age of ultron had an almost 300 million dollar budget, and was mediocre as fuck. Fun, exciting movie to see, but for what it couldve been, and how much it cost, it was mediocre as fuck. **
Even though RockB and others think I have stock in Fox, I am biased because x-men was my favorite superhero franchise as a kid.
After all the crappy 90s batman films and steel, Blade 1 and X1 imo started to turn the trend around and for the time I liked the early Singer movies even if there were many sacrifices.
I think all of Fox’s Daredevil and FF movies sucked so overall 6/13 "good " Fox marvel superhero films is still shitty.
IF they ever do x-force, I hope they give it to the director/writers of Deadpool.
How are you surprised? As soon as I heard the news of how much this damn flick made THURSDAY, being the first R-rated movie to make a crapton on an early day like that, I was like “hot damn, this shit really is kicking ass.”
And then hearing the positive word of mouth that so far has been staying consistent the longer the movie’s been out. “HOT DAMN, this shit really IS kicking ass!”
I’ll be honest I did fret a good amount, but I guess those fears slowly started to ebb away when more and more early reviews kept coming in with positive notes.
ive seen other similarly “internet popular” movies get hella hype and praise only to flop at the theaters. i was expecting this movie to do the same so im surprised. pretty simple really
You shouldnt be. I cant name a movie in the past 20 years with this much viral marketing, hype for an actor who was literally created by god to play said fictional character, that has actually failed. Mainly because they generally dont exist.
F4 doesnt even come close, because everyone saw that cluster fuck early on, and it only got ten times worse when it released. Hancock was a pre social media world, and even as good but mediocre as it was, it made a shit ton of money.
Deadpool was a hit from the start. There hasnt been a comic book movie that had as much anticipation as deadpool. Until maybe when black panther drops. T. The numbers at the end of the day might not be as strong because of the lack of ching chang chong china tuning in (piece of shit country), but i bet it still hits about 400 million by the end of the day.
I really hope ryan reynolds gets some back end action on deadpools gross. Writers, producers, and director too. If not, oh well, now RR can demand a 500% increase in pay for deadpool 2, and get it crackin.
i used snakes on a plane as a reference and everyone freaked
but viral marketing and fb comments dont always mean box office success cmon now
doesnt matter tho DP is doing well and that bodes well for fox keeping the xmen license and hopefully a good cable movie directed by aronofsky fingers crossed
Though here’s the thing, even the stinkers in the Marvel movies released since the first X-Men movie have been putting in work and printing off money left and right. Even such flicks like Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have pulled in respectable amounts.
The Fantastic 4 movies have been a VERY strange case… but yeah, shit seemed off just by looking at the F4antastic movie, hence why that was so far one of the ONLY Marvel movies that did not do well at all.
And despite varying quality, the X-Men flicks have been on the up and up. And with the surprise of Guardians of the Galaxy blowing a fucking hole out of everything that year… well, I guess the upcoming Black Panther would actually be okay. Unless if the trailer looked like crap.
