The simple fact is that Deadpool’s “powers” -regeneration, katana, guns- are completely not-family friendly, so a PG-13 rating (by the way the kid doing the request is not even 13, he’s like 7) wouldn’t do anything.
Anyway, a PG-13 cut would require extensive reshootings and such.
And finally and perhaps the most important, releasing two versions of the same movie at the same time would be a logistics nightmare.
So, simply not probable. Maybe there are alternate DVD/BR cuts, however. That should be enough.
(Which is perhaps the funniest thing about the usual hypocrisy that accompanies the bullshit of movie ratings.)
America and Americans in general are usually fine with violence, even “hyper-violence”, in their (PG-13) media so long as it’s focusing on the gore that would realistically go along with that. It’s the sexuality they have a problem with, even though “sex sells” and is constantly seem in pretty much every American ad in existence.
In short, as per usual, fuck these people. Maybe literally since they sound like they need it.
(Jokes on you again: I’ve never wanted kids and given I’ll likely be forever celibate, unless The “Virgin” Mary herself comes back to spontaneously pin Jesus on me 2000~ years after the fact, I’m never going to have any, much less by accident. [/off-topic])
That said, I don’t disagree with your overall point since I unfortunately agree that Hotobu, who said a similar point, may well be right since people in general are fucking dumb. The key differences between this movie and Snakes on a Plane are that a) Deadpool himself has a built in fanbase whereas none of the characters in SoaP are memorable, b) superhero movies are big right now compared to…whatever nebulous genre SoaP fits into, and c) there will already way more action in this movie than there was in SoaP, which is what the idiotic masses so love.
I’m not slamming you for being hesitant, especially since no one here really cares whether you personally go to see it or not; I just think you’re comparing it to Snakes on a Plane a little too much on a 1:1 basis.
Good to know you still say stupid shit whenever you post. I had so (not) missed it.
Movies as a whole are about suspension of disbelief since everything within them is fake unless you’re watching a documentary, just like any other fictional story is. Unless you’re going to tell me that, for example, that due to the overwhelming veracity of your sagacious observation, Tab Hunter and Rock Hudson were really secretly heterosexual after all because all the roles they played in movies were that of heterosexual men.
Good to know. How could I have ever missed this? Similarly, I’m sure the double standards to which movies ratings with regards to sexuality are applied don’t exist either since sexuality is universally real. Wowzers. My eyes are opened now.
any who my spoiled nephew I’m sure will see the movie, this is the same kid who beat call of duty ghosts at age 10 and is currently going through gta v, his grades are shit but he is still going to see this because his dad cannot discipline him properly…
