Dead Space 2

Just beat it on zealot. I find it funny that people complain about 10+ being the hardest chapters, while for me it felt like a huge drop in difficulty.

Chapters 10+ are VERY hard on zealot lol

i would assume that the hardest part of about zealot is the necro who wont die parts. what weapons do you guys like to use. it seems like all of them are pretty much beastly. the force is like you win for free because it’s primary fire pushes things away and does damage and it’s secondary just destroys outright. i want to max out all weapons just to see how beastly they are.

Finally finished it on zealot the seeker rifle helped a lot on the final part lol.

I agree, I found the beginning parts of the game to be the hardest because you have barely any supplies and shitty weapons. Once I hit chapter 6 or 7 I started to breeze through the game because an upgraded plasma cutter tears off a limb in 1-2 hits on any enemy. That and I bought a Pulse Rifle at that point and 1 or 2 damage upgrades with that thing makes it so damn strong.

I finished the game on zealot last night and am now playing New Game+ going for trophy kills I missed, like kill 30 enemies with kinesis objects and such. The amount you killed in your first game carries over to New Game+, so if you killed 28 enemies with kinesis then killed two more the trophy will pop.

You can’t play through Hard Core mode with New Game+. One thing I’m wondering is if you make multiple save files on Hard Core will it bypass the 3 saves max? I’m gonna try it at some point but if anyone can confirm if it works or not that would be pretty cool. If not, you could still make 3 seperate saves at pivotal chapters and reload them if needed. I’m dreading a lot of parts when going through on Hard Core, especially zero gravity parts where you can be killed in a single hit if you fuck up once. That shit is not going to be fun when you have no checkpoints and 3 saves max.

Multiplayer is much more fun then any COD or Halo.

10+ were easy since I had learned to deal with the bullshit enemies flanking/spawning on-top in chapters 1 - 9 that happens in zealot, so when enemies were SCRIPTED to appear behind you it was much less difficult because it was so much less random. In retrospect, I should have used the store more for ammo early game instead of grinding for nodes.

The final necro I just stasised. Infact, the whole final chapter I basically ran and stasis-ed. By that point, I was fed up with the games bullshit, I had enough money to buy whatever I needed to heal, and I didn’t feel like netting negative ammo by killing enemies.

That being said, final boss was rough as shit. Beat it through luck and mashing heal.

Weapon use

Pulse Rifle is S tier. You can use the primary fire against every enemy in the game (only downside is that the shots don’t always stun) and the secondary fire is awesome too.

Plasma cutter was kinda bad. It was good for most enemies, but some things (swarm for example) it was really terrible for. That, and I always seemed to be running out of ammo. Since most enemies took 3 shots to put down, the best I could do on ammo was come out neutral since I never saw a 3+ plasma drop. Pretty much entirely outclassed by pulse rifle.

Line gun is terrible. The nerf to duration on un-buffed stasis made the mines useless, and the mines are what made the gun useful in the first place.

Javelin has its uses, but mostly didn’t feel worth it to me. Two shots to kill most enemies, and I felt that the alt-fire was too expensive for what you were getting. I wouldn’t have beaten the game without it, though, and I kept it on me as a “heavy damage” weapon.

I’m playing my new game + on survivalist and I’ll just try out the rest of the weapons. Not going to bother with hardcore-- zealot was frustrating enough.

It’s also on XBL with 2 other videos free.

I’m on Ch 9 and the only suits I’ve picked up so far is the 1st Isaac suit, Security, and Vintage suits. Am I missing any?

You get the advance suit like around 12 or 13 I think.

Ok good. I was afraid I was missing some.

Guns I mostly used, beat it sunday and was lazy.

Plasma Cutter: The main weapon, obviously, I always keep this on me. But compared to DS1 the power felt very low in this game, even after noding everything. I also had ammo issues with it, and it’s the only gun I had to constantly buy ammo for really. It does suck for anything pack size or smaller, a complete waste of ammo using it on them.

Pulse Rifle: I should have upgraded this more, it lacked a lot of hitting power late into the game, but it was invaluable as a suppression tool, taking down the pack/small enemies and the grenade launcher was nice.

Line Gun: I have no idea why I kept this. It lost it’s mine tricks from the first game and it’s knock back potential was greatly nerfed, crap weapon that was just sitting there. I used it when I was low on cutter ammo.

Javelin: My favorite new weapon. I always got a lot of ammo, it has very respectable initial power and would knock the enemy back, and the alt fire was fantastic for a number of things (Spike the ground, electrocute Pack and the little things, take out limbs, etc) and I used it more or less as a sniper rifle.

Other than that I got the Contact Beam late game for final level shenanigans, Rivet Gun early on since it was free, and the Ripper which I still can’t use well. I want to try the Seeker Rifle and Flamethrower out.

Easily GOTY contender right now, fantastic story and gameplay. Isaac Clarke is the most human character I have encountered in gaming to date. His mannerisms, sense of urgency, general talk and how he goes about his mission really captured me and held my attention. I had this drive to help Issac complete the mission, and everything he did just kinda wowed me. Helped by a strong supporting cast and intelligent story it really brought a lot to the table and made Isaac this very likable character that I hope will get more time down the road.

Chapter 12/13

[details=Spoiler] I forgot which chapter it was, but it’s where the new Necromorph begins stalking you throughout the level, you know the one, I shoot you a bazillion times and you just regenerate. How fucking awesome was that? It made me harken back to by PSone days of playing RE3 and having the loveable Nemesis trying to murder me at each turn. I really liked the hunter/hunted aspect of this area and I felt kinda annoyed by it for a few reasons.

 1. Why wasn’t this enemy introduced earlier? He could have easily been an enemy doing these surprise attacks/pursuits early on as a way to guide or kill Isaac, and could have had such an interesting side plot.

 2. Why is there no conclusion to this enemy? He stalks, and stalks…and stalks. Then you hit the Major and the light and he’s suddenly gone, no end. I was thinking when I hit the singular room with the giant industrial fan on the wall that it’d be his end. “Aww yeah, gonna chop chop him!” but not. He just gets bored and strolls away I guess.[/details]

there is also a riot suit and an advanced engineering suit, which you can get in new game+. the riot suit is really cool looking.

Soldier suit aswell for finishing hardcore mode.

I’m attempting Hard Core mode here in a minute, I plan to make it to at least chapter 6 or 7 before I use my first save, and I’m going to play as careful as possible because I don’t want to get killed by a Cyst or something retarded.

Here’s my plan: at the beginning of the game, use kinesis as much as possible to conserve ammo, buy a suit ASAP, then a Pulse Rifle shortly after. I will only use these two guns, but one thing I was thinking of doing was buying a Contact Beam just to have it during hordes of enemies and to sell excess ammo for(a 6 pack of Contact Beam ammo sells for 6000 credits, which I then use to buy Plasma Cutter/Pulse Rifle ammo.) I also feel that I shouldn’t even buy a 3rd weapon just so I only get ammo drops for my main two weapons, but at the same time I need a 3rd weapon of some kind, which will be the Contact Beam or possibly the Force Gun. I was even thinking about getting the Detonator, because I have mental notes of where I’ll be fighting hordes of enemies and being able to lace the ground with a bunch of Detonator mines beforehand is pretty awesome and will make certain parts a lot easier.

Plasma Cutter+Pulse Rifle and either the Contact Beam or Force Gun if I even end up buying a 3rd weapon. I have every trophy in the game, all I have left is to play through Hard Core mode. I plan to finish up my Impossible playthrough of Dead Space: Extraction once I finish.

I will be attempting it soon but i will only use the plasma cutter and the line gun hope i can make it quite far before i use my first save.

What would you need the PC for if you have the pulse rifle?

Also, ripper is really good for conserving ammo.

anyone want this (both reg and col) get at me:china:

PC is still powerful it’s just not as useful because most enemies come in groups of 2. Zealot force gun is gdlke it’s basically the shotty of DS2.

I beat the game today, the ending was funny as hell but a good one.

Gonna start zealot difficulty tommorrow…
