Ripper was terrible on hard. Fully upgraded, it doesn’t kill shit and the range being so specific sucks.
Most efficient weapon was the line-gun. One mine could kill multiple enemies, and nothing, aside from brutes, could take more than two.

In the first game, most of the “weapons” were pretty much just engineers’ tools. I hope they keep to that in the second one.
line gun fo lyfe
cant wait for ds2!
Ya, I probably wouldn’t have played the first Dead Space if I didn’t see the animated movie first, it was awesome.
“All right, this guy did really well with mining tools, so we’re going to stick with that.”
Granted, they did work very well; but the main draw about them? They were there. They should still be, but I’m hoping we get some new and exciting weapons given that our protagonist won’t be stranded on a planet-cracker this time.
So. Pumped. About this game.
I never got to check out the comics, but that animated movie was a huge let-down, to me. Hopefully, that particular tool they used in it will have attracted enough attention to be included in the game.
See, what I liked about silent Isaac in DS was that I was his voice. I got so into it that I was talking shit back to the rest of the cast. I’m afraid that they’re going to turn him into a pussy. My highest hope is that they model him after MacReady from The Thing remake.
I did this too… plasma cutter ammo filled my inventory.
On hard didnt they leave certain contains lock, so make it some what “harder” too?
In light of all this weapon talk, i totally forgot that there was like “magic” in the game. I hope they either get rid of it or at least make it useful (besides for puzzles).
^ Yea, I didn’t care for the slow mo or anything of that other stuff either.
I definitely like the sound of this.
DS was the first game I played using 7.1. Good god.
Damn…I’m still on re5. I just unlocked Mercenaries mode, and my copy of Dead Space now is so pissed that the hand on the cover is flipping me off for ignoring it. First time I ever bought a game and never played it cuz I was busy with another.
Dead Space: Downfall was pretty tight. Mature animations are always pretty cool
Personally, I thought stasis was extremely useful. It helped me do my melee attacks/stomps on dudes, and I ended up selling oxygen packs and stuff for more stasis packs a few times.
Stasis all day, man. When shit really hit the fan, I really relied on it to get me through whatever was going down.
Really looking forward to this since I loved the shit out of the first game. Probably going to give Dead Space another playthrough now in anticipation for this sequel.
On the topic of stasis, I used that every chance I could. The regenerator didn’t mean shit as long as you had some stasis.
I agree about impossible should be unlocked in the beginning. They give you so many health kits that it takes away the tension on the easier difficulties. Dying in 2 hits made it feel tense. I never upgraded nodes into my suit until the second r ound on impossible.
I also loved the force gun. Killing necromorphs in one shot when they leap at you and the stasis necromorphs getting blown to pieces when they zip in front of you. IMO one of the best guns on impossible because you only need 1-2 shots to kill anything (except maybe the skinny tentacle guy made up of other tentacles). Plus it was great crowd control. If you used it inefficiently it took so much ammo to kill anything though.
Truth. They don’t make them like they used to. This was an example of the old days. I like the heroine though :-/.
Yeah I’m excited for this sequel. We’ll probably see all the same weapons again in some form or another. Maybe an illegal mod for the Ripper to make it more powerful instead of the standard one we got in the first game. Stuff like that.
Necro Vs. Player multiplayer should be hotness if it’s done as well as L4D2’s is.
C’mon EA. Announce Mirror’s Edge 2 already (with multiplayer runs!).
impossible mode was still easy, i had like 23 health packs at the end of that shit haha…
im so excited about this game holy shit…
im outi
Roberth
ME2 was announced, just not officially-officially.
It kinda sucked how when you kill necros while your low on life you almost always get a med or large medpack insead of ammo. Can’t wait to see what the puzzles are like in this new bigger space:rock:
**C’mon EA learn from RE1 it’s not hard to see why searching 10 rooms to find 2 bullets when 3 zombies are chasing is scary!!!
**
I just want to give a big ol’ FUCK YOU to EA for canceling the PC version of this game.
From my E3 post.
That being said for all the awesome games at E3 DS2 easily the best. It looks a lot more action packed then DS1 which is one of my favorite games ever, I just hope that items (especially ammo) are harder to find this time around because every enemy killed dropped a little more ammo then it took to kill it making it easy to accrue enough ammo to feel comfortable halfway into the game which diminished some of the tension especially if you’re the type of gamer who scours every inch of a game to get an edge. Remember in RE games when you had 3 bullets and an ink ribbon with a hunter chasing you? THAT’S what DS2 needs. It’s ironic to be saying this since Silent Hill has a shitty combat system especially compared to DS’s however DS2 needs to take a page from SH and make at least a fair amount of the enemy encounters not winnable forcing players to run away sometimes and keeping them on their toes. Also of the 7 weapons in DS only 3 of them were useful from an economic standpoint (plasma, line, and buzz saw) the other weapons 2 were terrible, and the contact beam was hard to find ammo for (which it should be since it’s a 1 hit kill.) So I’m glad to know according to the GI January feature article that the other weapons are getting a boost. The javelin gun looks like fun!
About the whole ebb and flow pacing I’m not sure how I feel about it but I’m willing to give it a chance. It could fail and deliver a watered down sequel or it could payoff and result in being one hell of a roller coaster.
