Dead Or Alive Ultimate Thread

Can you guys tell me what’s the difference between DOAU and DOA3?

Also, if I get “good” at DOA3, will I still be “good” at DOAU? Is the engine similar and stuff? Thanks in advance.

DOAU is a DOA2 Remake, so i doubt many of your DOA 3 skills will help you much, seeing as the move list in this game is back to doa 2

I’ll be crackin heads using Hitomi…

GT = SD TEKKEN

ill add you tonight, and ill be on tonight someone around 12:30 am when i get back from work.

heh nah i played a lot of zack, and gen fu. ppl do play as leon sometimes, but bass is the slowest in the game. i had my friend to do a test. he pick bass and i picked any random chick and show him how ez is 2 win by me button mashin by just pushin pppppp ha.and yea he notice its a bit tough to play with him against a faster character and a bit harder to counter,but yea man i dont care how many losses i get ill find a way to win.soon enough im goin to the top and im gonna bring bass with me. i want gay ass button mashers to acknowledge that mutthafukka. im not sayin every1 button mashes. i know theres some ppl that know there shit. :smile:

DOA3 skills will help a bit but if you play 3 first then I wouldn’t spend too much time with the wrestlers cause then you’ll just get pissed that 2 has no air grabbing, or no ground grabbing with certain characters. The change in counters might mess you up a bit, too. There’s also a lot less stuff you can do in tag battle, like attack while switching out and stuff. You also might get mad that certain characters are missing, like Christie and Brad, though for some reason Hitomi is in the game (not that I have anything against Hitomi.) They’re both fun games though, but if you plan to spend a lot of time online then you should just start with Ultimate so 3 doesn’t mess you up at all. Other than for playing online I kinda prefer 3 but that’s just me.

And hey Dios, hope we can play online sometime.

DOA3 skills will not help you in this game at all. DOA3 is a scrubby excuse for a game. If you wanna get good, just go into practice mode and learn your characters.

Well I think it’s a little unfair to say that DOA3 skills wont help AT ALL. You can definitely say that they won’t make you the best at the game and they wont help as much as just picking up 2 off the bat but I think that anyone who is a fan of DOA should try both games.
You say 3 is scubby, of course it’s scrubby, so is 2. DOA has always been far fom a legitimate fighting game, thats why its not played in tournaments or anything. DOA is just a game you pick up with your friends and have some random fun with because the game is very fun. I dont think it should be played competetively cause I dont think thats the way the game was designed, it should just be played for fun and I think 3 has a lot more things in the gameplay that make it fun. Both are great games, I’m just saying you cant tell someone to never play 3, pretend it never existed and go straight to ultimate, they should all get a chance.
But seriously, calling DOA 3 a scrubby fighter is like calling Mario Kart a scrubby racer, theyre just games for fun.

Geez. I play Bass, and that REALLY sucks for me. In your opinion, which DOA3 character plays closest to his/her DOAU incarnation?

most of the characters play pretty closely to the way they do in DOA3, provided that character isnt a wrestler. most of the characters lost a few moves but with many of the characters they are moves you wouldnt even notice are gone, the kind that they just add for eye candy. the closeset to their DOA3 character would of course be Hitomi cause she is her doa3 character, Bayman is about the same, too. if you like wrestlers then Leon or Bayman are both good cause they have their ground grabs. All the characters are still pretty fun to play as, if you dont know if you want to buy it cause ur afraid of it being too different then i wouldnt worry about it, i would recomend to just pick up the game and see that theres tons of fun to be had in it, or at least rent it and see.

Well that’s good, seeing Bayman’s my backup to Bass. Right now, I don’t own the game and I’m going off of DOA3 as my practice source.

Does he still have the crouch dash leg sweep grapple? (d/f,d/f+F+P)

coo another bass player. good thing u use bayman cause its like bass is so weak in this, and bass is the only character i use. I like bass so much that I cant sub him with another player . I dont even play tag matches. just lettin u know when playin with bass dont be afraid of losin. One thing I like bass is he like a comeback player. I have comeback on a lot of close matches with him. thats why its good to not be nervous when u real low on life and dont fuck up. Hope to see you online so we can get some cool bass vs bass matches. cause all i see online is a bunch of ayanes, jann lees- especially him. i dont know why ppl like dude so much,maybe because of his flying kick? and theres a lot of kasumis and hayabusa. i see those 4 all the time. oh and about the d/f,d/f+F+p thats his double arm driver.

Considering what I’ve seen online, I’d have to say I recommend getting this game if you’re playing for the fun of it. I have had games where it played FLAWLESS with 8 players, and lots of lag with 4 (very rare for me). In comparison to any other fighting game online, I must say this one plays excellently under normal conditions. Team Ninja may not make perfect fighting games, but damn do they know how to execute a game well. If Namco decides to go online, and it does as well as this, I won’t be able to stop playing.

Just lurkin through…

LOL, and Im one of them :karate:
Another quite popular Character is Ein.
Really all I use in it is the loveable, red-haired, ninja bitch. (AKA: Kasumi)

DOAU = a Fucking :party:

Wheres a good place to read up on character playstyles and basic strategy?

I started with Leon since I wanted to be strong and throw well, yet thought Bass was a little clunky. Now I use Bayman since they seem like the same character basically yet smaller.

and i’m with rekano … hardcore kasumi player

Just picked the game up. Im suprised at the slower pace compared to DOA3, It does feel pretty nice tho. The presentation is excellent! Look for me and my scrubby Helena :wink:

Well by far the most popular chracter on-line is Ayane. After that I see alot of Helena and Kasumi with Ryu beinga close fouth. I play Hitomi, Kasumi and sometimes for fun I play Tengu.

Actually, if you notice the rankings of Most Played in the Records option you would see that in North America Haybusa is #1 picked. In Asia, Ayane is #1 picked. Bass is rather low down there and lower than Tengu (mostly because I see a bunch of SS players using Tengu).

Yes, my first post. Take care guys, hope to see you online! Gamertag: Sorwah. If I’m on I’ll fight, if I lose I don’t whine.
