Lower technical, about the same level of mind games.
Some blokes with lovely accents playing the E3 build of DoA 5
In other news Team Ninja, are not thinking about dlc characters (They said its not a guarantee and would not even be discussed about let alone get started until later development stages, but if they do they would be for free since they hate the idea of pay for characters) So take that as you will
Also Team Ninja says No to Character Customization ala Tekken 6, VF 5 FS, SC V caliber because the “characters have personality like you or me” in their default outfits. I can agree to an extent since i despise the SfxT customization colors that makes the characters look ridiculous and honestly if I wanted in-depth character customization I would play a Rpg.
I agree with Team Ninja 100%. They seem to know whats going on so I’m going to stay hopeful.
Booooooooooo, Team Ninja failed in that department, people love to customize shit and make it there own. And I don’t recall DOA characters having much personality at all, this game could only benefit from custom costumes. O well, glad they won’t be adding DLC characters, so I’m still buyin it
So what personality do the women show when they’re fighting in bunny bikini’s?
Colour edit and alt outfits are always fun, except when you have those horrible cosplays like in SFXT.
I do admire them for not having paid DLC characters though. That (and paid Gems) really killed SFXT for me.
DOA characters have personality. The story for DOA is pretty good. The only fighter I can think of that has a better story is Tekken.
psss Tekken Storyline is starting to get stale for me. It was good and all to make the main focus on the Mishima Family Issues as the main plot, but they are really milking it to an extent. They even threw in yet another Family member in T6. Still, The Mishima Family watching them since throwing little old Kazuya down the mountain is about as entertaining as the Simpsons
Wait, but DOA’s over usage of Ninja isn’t? I see that as a tab bit ironic and a double standard.
I’m not talking about the number of fighters that are in a trend(Mishimas/Ninjas), but rather with what they have to do with the storyline plot .Ironically the Ninjas being the focus of the DoA storyline is not that big as its being hyped(besides Kasumi because she is the series main character who just happens to be female ninja). Its more focused on DOATEC troupe and Helena truth be told and how they influence the rest of the cast of characters.
My point was Tekken series main plot pretty much uses the same story-lines involving the ever-increasing Mishima Family where they have family issues which is getting boring for me. (They even displayed the pattern on the T6 prologue lol). I’m not saying DoA story is great/innovative (its not), but at least I don’t guess the basic plot before I even play the game.
-_-’ it’s the same shit
Like how Soul Calibur is going to be about the two swords and how Guilty Gear is going to be about GEARS, Tekken is going to be about the Mishima Family and DOA is going to be about Ninja revenge on DOATEC. These are the focal point in each of those games narrative.
People Didn’t like SCV having a actual story mode because it was a liner story that went from point A to B…but it’s ironic because that’s what a story mode is suppose to do. Blazblue,Guilty Gear, and Persona to a lesser extent do the exact same thing in their True ending Routes. By nature of Fighting games Prior gave Vague or convoluted Cannon or more often then not Non-Conical endings. This however gave players a sense of “freedom” but imo that creates more problems then anything else do to most games before did not give a clear explanation on what was or wasn’t conical material. Though KOF does it’s narrative well as there is a canonical winner every game and it’s obvious on which one that is…but I digress.
it’s funny you mention the plot to DOA5…what is it exactly? because I don’t think they shed much light on it beside the whole Ninja are going to do another full on assault on DOATEC…totally not predictable. o_O
If we base it on DOAD’s engine, DOATEC is just about dead.
the story arc is at it’s climax now…it’s going to end in DOA5. thats what anyone can gather from the end of DOAD, the main questions are, who is the final boss and what is going to be the resolution? Honestly it’s no different from how T6 ended the last Tekken Story Arc(the Jin Arc).
Actually, I believe officially the climax was in DOA4 for the DOATEC storyline. I’d believe we’re in the fallout of that storyline as we build up a new story arch which I can only assume begins with Bayman, Rig, and Christie.
Until Donovan is actually fought and/or killed, we’re on the same storyline. DOATEC = Donovan… everyone else has always been a puppet figure for him to manipulate.
thats what I gathered as well, it seems until the puppet master Donovan is dealt with, the current arc isn’t going to finish.
Itagaki was quoted as saying that DOA4 ended the Helena Douglas arc and began that Kokoro arc. I believe that the destruction of DOATEC was the climax of the HD arc and thus it just needs to fall to its end with Donovan’s death, at the same time Kokoro’s arc would be expanded on and focused more in the next game.
But who knows, it’s a fighting game story and this isn’t MK.
true but KOF had 3 story arcs all which were easily understandable~
-Orochi arc
-NESTS arc
-Ash Crimson arc
but yeah it isn’t MK so i don’t expect too much time was put into the story mode…I just hope enough time was put into the gameplay department…the current debate on FSD is rather interesting though~
