Like I said, I wouldn’t have expected it to work well - if all other things stayed the same. I’ve pitched to Team NINJA a few possible solutions here and there, including extremes on both sides just to brainstorm with them. One thing I’ve been planning to bring up is something similar to what Aion suggested, where the window for holding after being stunned decreases as the threshold increases. This way, players can go for say a guaranteed or near guaranteed launch after a deep stun, but are treading in dangerous waters as they try to get extra damage by extending the stun. Of course, maxing out threshold would give a higher launch as an incentive to ‘playing that game’ - and winning the ‘threshold’ metagame.
I’ll be able to discuss more with Team NINJA in April about some points and suggestions that have been brought up, but for now anyone can submit feedback on the current DOA5 demo to them from their website until April 30th.
If we’re gonna start namedropping “competitive forums”, a lot of people at Dustloop.com, aka the site for competitive Guilty Gear, Blazblue, Persona, and Skullgirls, says Blazblue should be at EVO instead of SFxTekken; and many at Shoryuken.com a competitive site for Street Fighter and other Capcom fighters says that it should be removed as well, considering it a “garbage party game”. Guess Wizard better remove it from the roster, the community of TWO competitive sites have spoken.
Then again, Marn, a top player in the community, has said SFxTekken is better than Guilty Gear. Since a top player said so, it must be true, SFxTekken is better than Guilty Gear as a fighting game.
There are about five people in the world who give me problems in DOA on tournament level, and that’s it. I think I “understand” the game just fine, and I “understand” why strings can be delayed to support that system. I have no problem stripping the game of that if it is required, and I had a thread on that a while back. Thank you for assuming I am ignorant though (at least you were polite about it!).
Quote please. I believe I’ve referenced other people having issues with it before, but I myself couldn’t care less. Destroying meter =/= destroying lifebar, but it’s still damaging strategically so I can live with that system just fine.
Honestly, if this is what people want, then whatever. I’m not going to champion a lost cause. I’ll just come in like I always do and destroy everybody when the game hits, then they will ask me why I’m so much better and I’ll have to explain it’s because the game is trash and everything they have been taught about fighting games will not apply to it. People will ask me what to do for training, and I will tell them it is impossible to train anyone proper yomi and that’s all the game is. With nothing logical to do, they will eventually quit and move on to other games.
The game will continue to stagnate. It’s all good, I know the drill. Carry on, I’m going back to SCV for now. I guess, once again, I’ll just have to show people how absolutely silly they are when the game hits. Then you can wait another seven years for a chance to redeem the series.
EDIT: Also, I noticed Ein is absent. If they’re going to keep Hayate as a single entity in this game, I hope some of his attacks are absorbed by Hitomi because I really enjoyed using Ein.
Yay for Helena, but good to see everyone is going to be returning.
Not sure how I feel about those VF characters in the mix, but even without ever having played VF I still know those two ladies, and I can’t say that I mind them.
I managed to wrap my hands around a demo regardless of not buying NG3 and I must say, this is definitely going to be the best DoA ever if this is any indication.
The combat and movement feels so much more robust.

The items in bold are the stages with two tiers but it doesn’t look like any stage has more than that. These are obviously placeholder names, for example: Sibuya is the stage playable in the demo but they call it “Scramble” now. They tease Battlefield and Dorou in the demo’s title screen as well.
That’s how game demos work. They’re clearly based on the game they come from, so of course they’ll include references to things in the final game. This is different from Capcom who actually includes all of said content on the disc. =P
im going to pick up NG3(CE) tomorrow, so i’ll be running alot of test on it.
I haven’t played a DOA competitively since 3.1…anyways i got a few simple questions for those who have access to Ayane…does she still have her quick spin mix-ups? and does she have her :u: F+P throw?
News about DOA5 has made me go back to DOA4 on the 360. I haven’t played it in a long time, and I haven’t played well since DOAU (lol) but if anyone’s up to it.
I live in Europe and my gamertag is MariaCroft.
