Well, in any case, I’m certainly more open to seeing what Hayashi and co. can do with DOA5 than I am NG3, at this point in time.
I’m also glad to see that, at least at this point in time, Ninja Ryu doesn’t still have his Hadouken as a special.

Assuming we are not counting the one he uses to KO Hayate in the extended trailer, but yea.
At least it isn’t fireball spam.
I noticed someone in FreeStepDodge is asking for a Capcom style training mode. Someone needs to tell them that Capcom training modes are meh (since they only teach you combos and skimp on teaching you on how to actually play), and that what they want is a VF4 EVO like training mode.
Just hope they don’t go so far with the environmental gameplay that it just becomes “QTE - The Fighting Game”. It would get repetitive.
The most important aspect, and the most obvious, is that the games basic engine is solid and in depth. Too often nowadays, that gets overlooked for flash, gimmicks and phantom ‘accessibility’
That echoes a concern of mine from earlier in this topic. When I first saw what were then revealed as “Power Blows”, one of my concerns was that they were going to be citing MKvDC’s “Test Your Might”-like mini-game stage transitions. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think even the most casual of MK’s fans really took a liking to those things.
So, I’m hoping that with that much in mind, Team Ninja will do what’s in their best interests of marketing this game to its largest audience in the West. If that means giving the likes of some FSD players a chance to have extensive sit down time with the game at Comiccon, EVO, E3 and etc., by all means!
An interesting promotion just reared its head. Apparently Team Ninja is asking the playerbase for concepts on new moves to implement, and there is even a contest for it. Winners get their move immortalized as part of the game, and a name in the credits.

Not earth shattering, game changing news, but still pretty cool none the less.
Tecmo-Koei’s plans for next year.
Interestingly enough, DOA5 is only mentioned once.
(I haven’t seen it myself as of when this posted)
Need a translation, but considering how DOA jumped from annually to a generation long wait, I’d expect as much.
I think they said DOADimensions has sold 310,000 units.
Most of the other stuff is just about their business strategy such as enhancing the marketing of titles in foreign markets (NG3/DOA5) and taking advantage of expanding Tecmo’s IP to establish stable earnings.
Rest of it is just about their online social games making a lot of money and how to improve those.
TN’s Hayashi running his mouth.
Seems to be trying to get some cheap pop Itagaki style.
Very exciting time for DOA fans. We could possibly get something really sweet.
On the other hand, we could get something completely garbage. Like God of War cut scenes or something.
Yea I /facepalmed pretty hard at what Hayashi said.
What’s funny is his boasting doesn’t even make sense. It’s very similar to some of the nonsensical crap itagaki used to say (godhand, anyone?). I used to assume it was some kind of sketchy translation job and we just weren’t understanding what he was actually trying to brag about. Now I’m starting to think its their corporate tactic – make an open ended boast about nothing as a PR move and let the recipient draw their own conclusion for better or worse.
I don’t think they realize this just ends up pissing more people off. At least Itagaki was funny when he talked shit about Tekken – you could feel his inner scrub burning when he called it a piece of shit.
it wouldnt be a DOA game without the trash talking (sadly)
Yeah, spouting out vague bullshit doesn’t really build hype. He needs to give out details or something to get people going.
I agree. I’m sick to death of the ‘plastic doll’ design that only seems to affect the female fighters. It reminds me exactly
of what the Japanese are doing with their love dolls. Extreme coincidence? I think not.
~K.
If I buy this will they make another volleyball game with better graphics? If yes then I guess I’m in.
The game’s characters will always have a slightly animé influenced look. Even the NG games which didn’t totally drop this. What I assume will change though will be their texture/surface/skin rendering making them look less plasticky (already somewhat noticeable in the teaser).
Lol did anyone else find it funny how the Debut trailer featured strictly Hayate and Ryu?
I’m not saying the guy chars aren’t cool but y’know, Dead or Alive always had it’s… assets lol.
Look forward to some pretty HD Tina. Anyone think they might put it out for PC?
I would love team ninja forever if they did.
Its one of the best things about the trailer.
Less emphasis on getting ass more emphasis on whuppin ass.
If I need porn there’s already an abundance out there, but the world needs more over-the-top fighting games.
I hope by showing Hayate and Ryu fighting means a change in the games atmosphere. Don’t get me wrong breast physics are worth a chuckle, but why focus on something that has zero benefit to gameplay (talking to you Itagaki!)
I’ve always been a fan of DOA, I felt it had really cool character designs, fast pace fighting and active environments were a nice change from the norm.
the teaser picture I can only assume is Kasumi doesn’t have the plastic-doll feel to it for me but still retains the anime influence.
even known alot of people grip about square-enix and especially FF13, as far as making a 3d representation of anime – they certainly do it the best and I hope Team Ninja can really give them a run for their money.
