Dead Or Alive 4&5 Matchmaking

Just picked up a copy of DOA4 for Xbox (seeing as how I just got a new one, I figured why not) and after playing it for about 4 minutes I was instantly reminded again as to why this is one of my favorite fighters of all time. Not very good at it considering I spent most of my childhood playing it casually, but I aim to change that by the time that 5 comes out. Therefore in turn, I decided to make this.

This thread will be for matchmaking across all consoles for Dead or Alive 4 AND 5. If you wanna throw down some matches then post your info in the following format:

Gamertag/PSN
Location
Describe when you’re usually on
Which game you’re posting for, or if both
Ect ect ect

I hope this thread gets a lot of response, because I really want spend a lot of time getting good at this franchise again before 5 drops, and what better way to do it then train with your fellow fighting game enthusiasts?

Also here’s my info:

Onslaught EXE
USA, Colorado
Pretty much on 24/7.
Posting for DOA 4 right now but 5 as well when it comes out.

Happy hunting.

The game is almost 7 years old, just wait 2 more weeks for DOA5. Though getting good at anything typically requires you doing that on your own but sure when that new one comes out. p.s. You should leave your tag/psn in order for others just to message and add you.

N_o_1_R (PSN)
Virginia
As much as possible
DOA5

Let’s get this party started!

I’ll add you now.:sunglasses:

EDIT: Nevermind, didn’t see that it said you were on PS3. Lmao.

I wouldn’t mind having some matches… Forewarning though: It’s my first time playing a Dead or Alive game outside of casually button mashing with friends (I started playing fighting games more seriously years after DoA4). So I’m pretty bad at it and I haven’t gotten a firm grasp on how to play. But if someone doesn’t mind then I would love for a chance to learn! I’m thinking of maining either Lei Fang or Helena.

Xbox GT = Tajiloh

Are you on now?

No I’m going to head to sleep now. But I’ll be on all day tomorrow. It’s my one day off this week xD

Right on, I’ll add you in a few minutes. I leave for school in about 2 hours but it’s only an hour long class so I should be back on for the rest of the day around 2:30 or 3:00.

Add me on PSN: Boo-ZAWARUDO
I’m from France, receiving the game (doa5) tomorrow, I’m not sure who I’ll play as I never really played DoA (when I was a kid I had lots of fun with DoA2), but I’m really tempted by Helena. Also I’m definitely giving Rig, Kokoro and Akira a try.
I’m usually on during saturdays, mostly because I’m working all week for school and sunday I don’t usually play, but I may do.

Here’s my shitty critique, for what it’s worth:

You’re pretty good for someone who’s just coming into it seriously. However, You play wayyyy too defensively in a game that capitalizes on offense. Don’t be reluctant to attack when you can. The only reason I won like I did was because I capitalize on mix ups and making you think I’m going to do things that I’m not, and keeping pressure on you to force you to make decisions. Notice you did a lot better when you were cautiously spacing me and baiting my rushdowns. More or less, that’s the kind of style you should focus on if you’re gonna main Lei Fang. Her strategy is revolved around high and low guessing games, and capitalizing on punishments and the like. You also make good use of your counter holds, probably better than I do actually.

Play me as Helena a few times, I wanna see how you do with her.

EDIT: Also, work on how you recover from block stun and on wakeup.

Thank you so much for all the help! I really appreciate it.

And yeah… I want to sit back and defend against everything but part of what makes it so hard is that I don’t know what is high/mid/low. I feel like once I learn all the moves then I’ll be a bit better off. Especially with Mila’s punches… they are so ambiguous and fast… I can’t tell if it’s high or mid. Also presenting an issue for me is that I now realize I need to find moves with Leifang that aren’t mid punches xD I didn’t realize that there were no highs mixed into the bunch.

As for Helena, she’s fun and I like her Bokuho stance thing. It’s funny when I dodge using it xD

Utilize her stance, it’s one of her greatest tools in the right hands.

As for Lei, yeah. Learn to utilize her lows and highs. It’s pretty much her game, lol.

Well I think I’m going to stop playing for tonight. Thanks for all the matches. It really was very helpful.

Now I need to fight the other 95% of the cast… >.<;;

Sure thing. Hit me up tommorow if you want.

Good to see some people getting some matches in. I am getting used to the game since its been a while since I have played the series but I am deff down for some matches GT: UndeadTurkey

Unfortunately I’m busy for the next two days :frowning: I’ll probably be playing again on Sunday.

XBL: Oguz286
Country: The Netherlands (so don’t complain if there’s lag :frowning: )

I’ll add you. Are you on now?

I’m online right now.

Finally had some very good matches with someone! Taught me some very good lessons:

  1. don’t mash! You become very predictable, and you opponent will use holds.
  2. don’t wake up every time with K. It’s very easy to counter it with a hold if you know your opponent wakes up like that every time.
  3. vary with your combo timing. It baits out holds which you counter with a throw.

I’m still a n00b, but I’m learning
