I guess there’s Midnighter and Apollo, and then maybe also John Constantine kind of…but those haven’t really been mainstream gay dudes. But I feel like, especially under Mark Millar, Midnighter and Apollo were so in your face about their gayness that it almost kind of makes up for the rest of the universe.
But this whole thing is so stupid and unnecessary. Just write a new character and make him gay if that serves your marketing department’s direction. Why out an existing character and turn it into a big reveal event? It’s so hokey.

Why invent a new character that they’d have to pay royalties for when they can keep milking money out of characters created by old/dead guys with shady work-for-hire contracts?
I think they already created a whole new character for the new 52 teen titans who is gay, Bunker, so maybe Tim Drake will hook up with him. Also you gotta remember they retconed(sp?) everything with the new 52, there isn’t even a Stephanie Brown to worry about.
