yea sad but i gotta say, he seems umm better then a majority of the cast. Unflicking powered up fireball, umm solar flare… Those all seem pretty damn usefull to me.
Anyone notice any other randomish things like that? Ive noticed that some moves automaticly make you lose your lock on when your hit by them. Example that umm… Hrmm geez… ahhhhh hes suppose to be pretty but then he has that ugly form? Vegita beats him in the anime forget his name. I want to say zarbon? But not sure. Like his beat em up super when ever it hits you seems to make you lose your lock on that seems pretty damn usefull to me as well.
Blah I wish there was more to this game lol. Hopefully the second one will add some more stuff…
On a final note, anyone have the battle theme in this american version that starts off slow then speeds up to say I guess. Its acctualy fairly enjoyable. I dare say the american version might have better music then the japanese version of this game. Its to bad all the music in the japanese one is geniric stuff instead of all the old character themes from super nintendo games etc… Pretty disapointing.
dialupsucky, I feel your pain. It’s cause you suck and the CPU is a cheating cunt though.
If you really want to conquer that mode or hate the way the characters are balanced, just go into that Z evolution mode. You can make any character much better than average that way…
The way the game is set up most match ups should be determined by the skill of the players involved and not the characters. I have no clue how the game would break down competivitely though, I have no sense of the game’s depth other than I can cream all friends in the sort of rock/paper/scissors style.
do you only have one block for everything in this game in terms of physical attacks? are there any big difference between this and B3? was thinking of picking either up but wasn’t sure which one. sorry to bother.
If you want an almost perfect DB/Z/GT-inspired fighting game, get Budokai 3. If you want game made to resemble the anime as much as possible without a considerable amount of (compared B3) depth, then get Budokai Tenkaichi.
Yeah, there’s only one block button…but if u time ur block then ur block knocks the opponent back when they try to hit u and u get an opportunity to attack. they can do the same to u when u try to strike them tho (the timing isn’t always easy). However if the opponent attempts to hit u with a smash attack during a combo u then have the option to evade either by sidestepping or teleporting.
There is MUCH more mobility in making it faster and opening up more depth than B3 had. Finishing moves and need not be done in combos, so u can find your ownsetups to land them now. the whole control scheme is redone (not at all like B3). the combo system is different…i mean the game is made by another developer so it is indeed an entirely different engine, so there’s too many differences to name. rent it and check it out tho. its nice.
And it’s not “I need a capsule for this, and…hmm I better get THIS capsule cuz I can’t do even regular damge without it, and I better equip this capsule in case my opponent picks whats-his-face, and another capsule so…” I call the Budokai series “Capsule Ball Z” for a reason…
Thanks for all the info. Guess I should try renting it before buying. Get confused though, some say b3 has more depth and others say bt does. Guess might be preference.
Eh, it depends. B3’s actual fighting is marginally deeper, but BT’s depth is all about mobility and positioning. I would say it’s a better game, but as far as depth goes, it’s a bit of a step sideways, and not so much a step forward or backward.
Really though, no capsules. Rhio2k said it already, but good God, no capsules, it’s fantastic. I mean, there’s a sense of loss in that you can’t beast someone for a few combos, then while they’re reeling go to SSJ3 or something, which is just cool. However, you also don’t have to feel like “Oh God, I am not going to even be able to start fighting until I get enough ki to change to X form.”
I prefer it to the capsule system.
EDIT: Probably should have mentioned that they split up characters into all their different forms as seperate fighters (i.e. there is Goku, SSJ Goku, SSJ2 Goku, etc.)
I guess we should start a Tier list… hrm so many characters it’s hard to do it by myself.
Well I’ll start off with what I know and someone can post another character(s) and if they are higher or lower than the previous.
Goku (normal) - I’d say he’s damn well near the lower half of the tier list. His Kaio-ken attack is really his best thing, however having to go into Kai-o-ken eating 2 Sparking balls is a pain. His targeting SUCKS. I mean throw someone and do a kamehameha and it whiffs where other characters easily follow up. His damage isn’t that great hand to hand as well. Also, the Genki Dama is a worthless move since I have yet to find a guarantee set up and it doesn’t work when you’re in their face (so far that I have tried). If you hit it, it does nice damage but if you whiff (which chances are great that it will) then you’re stuck in recovery until the Genk Dama explodes or goes off screen, allowing your opponent for a free followup.
Brolly - High. Simply because his auto guard, he’s really quite slow in punching but his hand-to-hand is damaging and the auto guard on it is damn near unstoppable. You’re only hope against it is a gut punch into a ki attack. Then praying you can keep nailing him while he’s down in stun. Not much else that I have found against Brolli.
uh lets see
Vegeta (normal ssj1)- Vegeta is ok. he trackes a little better than normmal goku and he can deal outsome damage. only problem is that his attacks arent as fast as gokus.
Gohan (normal)-Gohan so far( as far as i have seen) is better than his father and vegeta. good tracking moves decent follow ups to his shit etc
Krillin still seems like he would be pretty usefull to me, the powerd up zarbon seems like he might be pretty good to. Regular throw that keeps you right next to the guy for mix ups or whatever, and his super move seems to make you lose your lock on which is always hella annoying.
Super sayian trunks(the fighting one not sword sadly =[), ss4 gogeta seem pretty good to.
Of course I havnt really fooled around with everyone very much, and havnt got to try vs other people really so dunno just what SEEMS good lol.
Ive also heard scouter vegita is good quite a few times dunno why specificly though.
On another note anyone know any fun things to try or intresting? Or anything fun combos that are acctauly TRUE combos? Trying to delay the inevitable of me never playing this game again. Need some stuff to do with it, and im lazy to try and find it myself. Ive noticed vegita(seems to be all of them)can acctualy combo into and out of his regular fireballs its a wierd timing but its there… Now how usefull this is… I have no idea lol. But whatever doesnt seem like other characters can do it. Maybe some others can that I havnt tried or maybe everyone can, but if they can its deffintly easier then with vegita.
Hey guys can someone gimme some tips on how to combo in this game? I seem to be getting the hand of the controls, but combos are still troublesome for me. THanks.
well heres the thing… I dont think anything but the most basic stuff, are truely combos. anytime you try and do stuff with viarity it can acctualy be blocked even if it looks like its comboing. or even says its comboing.
Id assume vegita can do some bigger combos with his fireballs since you can combo in and out of them with timing but even then theyed only be so big since once you start going into normal moves unless there exstremly basic, it can acctualy be blocked.

You mean that instead of being better or worse than b3, bt is more like a totally new game?
never really got to play any of the dbz games, so I’m a bit clueless as to what capsules do exactly. Are they just items you can add to your character so they can use the items during the fight or do they just enhance your character as long as they have the item equipped?
every character really does has his and her strengths and weaknesses, u could choose normal goku and prefer him to ssj2 goku which is great, i use krillin cos of everyone saying he’s weak (he stepped up to buu what more do you want?), its a very hard battle with my friend tho he chooses vegitto and its a mad mad mad battle (this guy used to easilly win matches on b3’s difficulty level Z3) so fighting eachother we found out the depths of the mechanics we easilly can beat cpu its just a fuck around really, i think learning in-fighting (upclose) is important, learning how to fake and power up ur knock aways strategically is very very important, if u lose easilly or ur afraid of the new tournament arena’s then your not good basically
i just hate those damn bosses though, they suck so much lol
edit: by the way i got rid of the game last week lol its good but not deep enough (eventhough it IS very deep… or a good level of deep anyway lol)
so yea i fooled around with vegita a bit more it would seem that p 1 to 4 and then fireball X4 then repeat is a infinite?
As long as its not the 5th hit it would seem you can do this. you want to link the fireballs and the punchs dont cancle them cuz you dont want that push back thing. Now my question is. Is this a infinite? Normaly cell games seems fairly difficult and umm i just beat it flawless with this, the cpu could do nothing. I only got hit when I fucked it up. And vegita builds meter so fast and his fireballs take no meter to do you can just do it well pretty easily it would seem. I question if you can break it etheir since you can just do stuff like punch, fireball X4, repeat theres not really a fake part to the combo like a gut punch etc etc to get out of. I know theres that whole blocking thing as well that lets you get out of combos as well. But dont you have to get hit by at least 1 physical attack first? and since theres only one pyhsical attack in it(that is if you want it, and even then when i would do 4 the cpu would never get out)i would think you cant?
Hrmm not sure how to explain. I dont know much about the game, all I know is this seems like a infinte to me.
If someone has regular accsess to human palyers could they try this? I know for sure it would seem cpu is fucked but maybe theres some way a human can get out.
