Alright guys, I know it’s been a while since I posted on here or DL but with BB coming out I definitely gotta make time for this. I can make it out anywhere for as soon as 6 am to about 8 pm, as I’ve got nightshift tonight and tomorrow night (I know, on the day BB comes out no less). I SHOULD get some sleep somewhere in there but I’ve been known to go for longer without it, and BB is worth it (plus my jobs screwing me anyways so I might just call off :rolleyes: )

SO! Let’s get this hype shit, sun. I remember Adam saying a while back he was gonna have a Blazblue party; any word if he’s still doing it? Having it on the weekend would probably be better for everyone though (give us all a little time to get used to it lol). Other than that, Tell me where to go and I’m there, bringing along at least 2 peeps with me (Nick and his gf at the least most likely, possibly more).

me and carter are gonna meet adam at gamestop at the dayton mall. Meet us there if yur coming to where we are simple as that and that goes for everyone BB , 3S , SF4 and whatever else were gonna play WSOP.

Im mad rune kai just called me ross and ive never met him LOL! Usually people who have known me for a while call me ross.

But yeah I see exactly what shiro is thinking with that m,atchup… Ive been playing Abel vs Ryu all wrong from the get go.

You know, it’s funny that you agree about the community that I’m speculating on, but disagree about the one that I know for a fact. I mean, CoCoIchi has already backed me up on this, but I did live in Japan for a while and went to my share of arcades. Like ALL THE TIME. I think I may have seen one Marvel machine and it was in a really small town, and nobody was EVER playing it. The arcade I frequented most had Marvel vs Street Fighter I think (and nobody played that either.)

Now, you do have a point, in that I am also not sure why they still play 3rd Strike, but don’t play Marvel. All I know is that it’s a fact. I can, however, speculate that it’s because they don’t like playing a game where they’re so limited in what teams are actually playable. Other than that, I really have no idea why they don’t play it. I simply know that they don’t. I’m sure there are a few arcades in big cities where people will get together and have tournaments every once in a while.

When I was there, Tekken and Guilty Gear were huge. Melty Blood arcade was new and people were playing it. A few people played 3rd Strike. There was some special edition of KoF 2k2 that they were playing. VF 4 had kind of run its course, so nobody was playing that. CvS2 seemed kind of dead as well, but people played it sometimes. That’s what the FG community in Japan was like in spring/summer 2005. I have no idea what Smash was doing since it’s not on arcades and I would probably have to be invited to somebody’s house or a manga kisa to see what was going on there.

Anyway, it’s not often I find myself disagreeing with you, Jason. It’s just that I failed to mention that my comment on Marvel was based on observation/fact and not blind assumption.

Oh, no no no, I wasn’t NOT taking yours or CoCoichi’s word on that. I get that they don’t play it…but I just don’t get why. I gave you Smash because I hadn’t thought about it like that before, so it makes sense, along with an article I read that shows that console gaming in general is dying in Japan while hand held gaming takes over…So that’s why I was so quick with smash.

I guess my argument kinda went away from my original point that I really didn’t have to make…and into something I’ve always kind of wondered about. Most people think Japanese players excel at execution…but Smash and Marvel are very execution heavy games. I’ve seen some Japanese Melee vids…and they’re alright but just don’t compare to what our best Smash players are capable of.

With the Marvel thing though…I just find it odd. Maybe it’s the team thing, but there are more viable team makeups in Marvel then there are viable characters in 3rd. Then again, Marvel is a counter-pick heavy game…With it’s brokenness being it’s balance, so unless you’re playing a team that covers everything, but doesn’t excel at anything…you’re going to have to learn multiple characters and multiple teams.

Eh, guess I’d have to ask a Japanese player who’s been in their scene since 1999 or so to figure out why. I wasn’t disregarding your view on it though, cause I got that they stopped playing it for some reason.

ANYWAY…

Also, I think there’s just more patience/dedication/obsession in general when it comes to a Japanese person perfecting a given skill over and against the average American.

Is WSU open at the same time as Gamestop? If it is, we might as well just go straight there. I was only going to bring back a few peeps to the house, but I couldn’t convince the 'rents to allow the 20 or so people to come over :sad:. I say WSU is the best bet.
