So we all know SB4 is coming up…we should start to plan a game session for EVERYONE to come to. Jesse (…I swear if you had a close friend named James, lol), I’m not sure if you would want to benefit from this, but perhaps we could use one of the weekly discounted gaming sessions as a practice session for SB4? EVERYONE plays EVERYTHING cause almost any experience is needed, no matter if you have a certain inexperience or distaste for the game. I still think it will fairly interesting to see how much fun people have. Plus, I will film it for the mixtape as preparation for SB4, the finale of the Mixtape. It’s not too often to get everyone in the same place to film, so help a brotha out! lol. Plus, I’ll attempt to capture direct feed straight to my laptop as soon as I figure it out. One of gamers at WSU has a portable dazzle with shitty cables that he wouldn’t mind letting me borrow. Of course, I will have better cables, so once I figure out how to install some kind of software that will open the window to capture analog footage, I should be good to go.
** MAJOR MIXTAPE UPDATE:**
Soundtrack is about 90% complete and to be honest, I’m really excited about the selection so far. I think I will have the most fun editing that I’ve ever had in a long time. I’m still holding the last 10% open for suggestions/new material to be released, but at some point I have to close the casket on that, so I don’t continue to change my mind. For what its worth, I’ve started forming the soundtrack in April (around 30 something songs), so I’ve had to listen to different suggestions, different artists, and take in several viewpoints (as an editor and film student). Not to mention, I’ve had to listen to many songs several times. Hopefully you guys will enjoy the variety this time around. Artists like Gorillaz, Black Milk, N.E.R.D., 30 Seconds to Mars, and Asher Roth are just some of the few chosen for the Mixtape to hype things up!
My HD is coming. I swear. I goofed up the order and had to cancel it because I messed up the billing information, so Newegg.com never processed my order. I’m ordering it as I type this stuff, so I should have it next week. Once I have it, I’ll be able to start storing all of this footage of my tapes so that I begin to use them again without having to purchasing more. So far, I have about 8 hours of footage, and that doesn’t even include footage provided by Osirun, Heno, Josiah, and the rest of what has to be shot I’ll try to shoot some shots of Dayton, OH so that I can have some shots of the city to throw in there. Also, the Freestlye! session will still be in effect, so I will try to get the ball rolling and capture this stuff soon, especially if I can hold on to that dazzle that I mentioned previously for a while.
So far, the games included in the next Mixtape are: Street Fighter 4, 3rd Strike, SoulCalibur IV, Tekken 6, Super Turbo HD, Guilty Gear, and BlazBlue. Marvel might sneak its way in, but I want everyone to understand that its hard to record everyone’s precious moments. Hell, it’s still undecided who is actually IN it. lol. To solve this, if anyone has a VCR or a camera that records good quality video, please please please take initiative and record some things for yourself to be in the Mixtape, and it will make things much easier so that NO ONE is cut short in their highlights this time. Point blank, if you give me footage on top of what I have already, you make this project THAT much better and you’ll be guaranteed to be in it. I’ll log my footage in a list pretty soon in the next update, so that I (and you guys) can keep track of progress. You guys have a great talent in video games and I want that to be shown in the best way so that everyone is represented well. If you guys don’t have any recording equipment, I am more than happy to lend what I have out for those purposes
SB4 is getting big and I’ll probably need all the help I can get. If you guys have cameras and would like to record stuff on your downtime for the mixtapes, that is TOTALLY fine with me. I know everyone will be EVERYWHERE so it will be very difficult to leap across Momo’s getting different shots this time. I don’t think I will be competing in anything except UMK3 (I know MK sucks Adam, lol), so I will have nothing else to do but eat, film, and play casuals. Plus I think it will be interesting to hear everyone’s viewpoint from all over the place and not just hear my voice the whole time. I’ll be trying to figure out how I’ll be able to get the whole weekend recorded just incase I will not be able to be there the whole weekend. Again, I may have to leave my equipment with someone, which is fine for me.
Finally, I think the Mixtape is predicted to be about 2 hrs long (maybe a little less actually…). The first one clocked in at 1hr 18mins, so there is definitely going to be a big difference. Having everything figured out NOW-ish as I go along will make this better for in the long run. I’m planning to release the final presentation to download to your computer from PowerUpFighters.com I’ll be providing widescreen definition at a high quality and I’ll provide an HD format as well. I’m trying to avoid copyright issues (cause I can’t afford that shit, lol), so I can’t sell it to anyone. Essentially, this project for me, will serve as a template for more work, so that eventually we just might sell content in the near future. However, if you have problems trying to download the mixtape when I release it, I’ll burn some DVD’s for you guys
…whew…I’m done You’re a trooper if you read all that crap…and Jason needs to do more commentary. I vote that! lol.
I can’t stand Asher Roth, and yes I realize he’s a college kid who raps about smoking weed (right up my ally huh?). Otherwise everything looks cool. As far as playing every game I doubt I’ll be doing that. I get ADD every now and then at the arcade but for the most part I’ll be sticking to 4 and 3s, and since the 3s competition lives in Indiana I’ll mostly be on 4. Considering it’ll be the game with the most entrants at SB4, and there will be a ton of heavy hitters, I wanna get on the training right away.
Fair enough, lol. I also understand that some people don’t prefer certain artists, so I won’t jump down your throat if you vomit on my selection. I’m just trying to balance the level of entertainment as much as possible so there are more people to enjoy it. But of course, Beyonce has the best music videos of all time, so I might have to switch out Asher Roth for Beyonce…(yeah…I’m still on that…)
…and yeah, lol, I should specify that I meant that we just play for fun. I know everyone has a central game that they play, but I think playing other games for fun tends to release the tension from games that you compete in. Some of the old Tekken players I talked to last year played other games (that they were fairly decent in), just to release the tension of what they are really here to compete in. It may just be them, but they got great results, so I don’t think it’ll hurt to try it. lol.
I have like two or three songs I want to toss at you…I haven’t before cause I couldn’t find something that felt “right” since before Joe asked us to find crap that would fit us.
Can probably just go into the 3rd one though if the soundtrack is set for the most part here.
Kam: I would like to talk to you about a few things that I think would be really neat. Do you have an AIM? If so please instant message me or call me or you can even PM me.
<33333
@Kam I got a new HD video camera that I have been trying to get stuff on. I’m not too good myself with combos and stuff to show off but I do plan on shooting some footage of other people and like some of the people sections of it, I guess. Anything I get that you might want I can give.
So far, Fridays looks like a good day to set the Sinclair Weekly Meetup, so if anyone has any objection to it, please let me know.
Jason: Post the links (to youtube, if you can find it) on here and I’ll take a listen. My song list has about 10 songs ( I think Vol.1 had about 8-10 songs), so I want to stay within that range if I can help it. In addition to the selected soundtracks in progress, there may also be some background music, so I will also consider that Some of the documented segments (including the previews) may be slightly re-edited.
Amanda: Check your PM’s (…and I don’t mean that as like, PM’s, without the apostrophe. lawl). I haven’t been good with answering calls lately because of school, and at this point, talking about the Mixtape over text messages is just annoying. So shoot your idea
Temmy: Thank you. I’ll consider that option as well. I’m aware that you have some decent AL footage and teaching you how to shoot better is just a small adjustment. I have a tripod if its too much a nightmare, but it might be fairly difficult to get from me because I am taking a digital Photography class this quarter. The Freestyle! combo section is the only section I definitely want direct feed of, so I probably won’t go for off camera shots. You are welcome to shoot as much as you like, Dayton/Mixtape related and I’ll try to include it. At this point in the production phase, I want MOAR matches and less documented footage. Are you a regular at AL? So far, that is the only place that I’ve seen you before, but not officially met. Anyhow, if you are at Sinclair, I think I can manage to make one your gatherings depending on the day.
That’s what has already been happening weekly. These sessions have been for SB4 practice. We had about 15 last week so it looks like people are taking it seriously. We had SFIV, BB, and 3s running. If more people brought setups we could run even more games. Thursdays are usually best for me. Wednesdays are a possibility. Tuesdays are not usually good but may be able to be finagled now and again. I was hoping we could make it a regular Thursday thing so everyone knows when it’s going down each week without having to wonder or keep checking the forums.
I’d be happy to provide footage I record at SB4 and AL. I keep most finished movies with text and any graphics I’ve added in, so that may be the only problem from an aesthetic standpoint.
Glad to see you’ve keep in mind my offer to host the mixtape. It shouldn’t be too hard to create a download link for it.
I really, really wish I knew. I’ll keep looking for some resource about it.
I’m planning on heading to AL tomorrow afternoon and staying til closing. (Normal Sunday gameday fell through this week) So if anyone would like to meet and/or tag along for the ride, please let me know
My dad caught me a few weeks ago and threw out a quarter.
My soul died a little bit, and I’ve been clean since. (Unwillingly.)
T_T
Yeah, Friday works for me too at Sinclair, but I’ll be leaving before the evening to go hang with friends. As for other days, I’m down there every day due to lots of classes and work, so I’ll be around having matches here and there. MWF I’m bringing my 360 stick, just in case the guy with the 360 comes and wants to play some BB again
Then I’ve really lost faith in people. He does something stupid like this every year. I’m more surprised that people were surprised.
Can we let this mess die now? Maybe? No ones gonna boycott his music, nobodies going to feel THAT bad for the chick, and in six months he’ll be producing a new hit single with her.
Nathan, I would love to go to AL tonight but you’ll probably be gone by the time I get off at 7pm!
@Kam, yeah I am an AL regular, but I am always at Sinclair MWF. I need a tripod and meant to get one yesterday while I was out, but I went and got a Wii Hori Fightstick instead… So I’ll probably hop over to Radio Shack after I get off work and get that thing.
Temmy: Oh ok cool cool. I was also going to suggest that if you do record matches, that you change your shutter settings down to about 60 and NOT on Automatic. It’ll drive you nuts when those black bars plague the TV screen…
Good games 2 Quentin, Kam, & Derrick @ WSU on Friday. That was pretty nice 2 get some Soul Calibur 4 in. It’s been a lil’ while since I played, so it was sweet 2 get some quality comp in that.
Skeez: After playing & watching some quality SC4, it does make u wanna start playing it again, doesn’t it?
