I’m going to be at AL for sure on Saturday for the Brawl tournament. I need to bring a TV, so I’ll only have two seats left for anyone who wants to go. I think only Lee and/or Amanda will be interested; it is Brawl after all
I’m going to try to make it out to AL on Sunday, because it’s going to be awesome. My friend Aaron’s brothers are coming to visit, and I’m not sure if they’ll want to go. I’m pretty much obligated to hang because I’ve never met them, but I’m going to do my best to convince them that the trip is totally worth it on Sunday.
I work till 5 tomorrow, so if it’s AL after 5… then that’s cool. (Course, I’d need to throw gas money at someone…) So I dunno if I can make it or not, Friday is more of the same, I wont get off till 6.
Edit: Good news is I booked my hotel room for Seasons Beatings. I’ll be at the Red Roof with my friend Ryan, and while we only have 2 beds, if there is room for someone who needs it, we will have air mattresses or camping cots available for those who might need to crash someplace. Also open to hang out for casuals. (There will be a PS3 and there will be TvC.). Since it’s cheaper I’ll be arriving Friday morning instead of Thursday night like I planned but that’s all good.
Zach: Yeah, I know sticking with the 'Sak is probably a poor move in terms of tournament placing and everything, and I do dabble in other characters. (Ryu, Sagat and Balrog get a lot of play in place of Sakura.) But I figure I just need plain old practice to do better at everything. That and play a lot of the different match ups. I know learning them is going to be one of the many keys to success.
Adam: I’ll try that, open up training mode with Balrog and just try to get link practice in.
Jay does work but we close at MIDNIGHT on weekdays. If you guys are definitely coming, let me know by tonight and I will plan on being there at least when you all are showing up and probably later after the family goes to sleep to close up. I will definitely stay open til midnight for you guys. Also, if 10 come I can get you the $4 deal but it will still only be $5 if it’s less than 10 people.
Also, you guys will need to bring some setups. We have 2 PS3s, 2 360s, a PS2 and a Dreamcast. If a couple more bring their PS3s and games you will be all set.
I just finished up watching the Naptown videos on Youtube, the interviews included.
First off, I forgot how much I hate myself when it comes to hearing me talk. HOW CAN YOU ALL RESIST THE URGE TO PUNCH ME? Oh my god, so annoying. (But that’s my opinion) Anyway, thanks for the spot on the mini-doc Nathan, even though you can clearly hear me talking in half of the first part, mostly in Lee and Brent’s interviews. TvC soundtrack to Adam’s was good too.
Man, Naptown as good times.
Anyway, uh… Friday might be good for me after all, I can comment tomorrow. AL isn’t looking good, though for Thursday for me.
I’d bet my life savings on Juicebox over Hav. Not that Havoc is bad or anything, CVS2 players excel at SF4…but Juicebox is far more scary. There’s a really good Abel player from St. Louis too, really good at frametraps and rekka mix ups.
Edit: Arakune does have get off me moves: Dash teleport, air teleport, command teleport. Free, free, and free.
Ok so I looked at the place more carefully and I realized that the discount applies from 10 cards onwards so technically there is no 10 card limit. What this means fight fans is as long as you are willing to pay for more then one card, you can have more then one card. Happy days. If we get 16 cards at $5 a pop, we will cover shipping and handling completely (see below).
So who wants more then one?
Also I check shipping and handling and it is $8 for the package of 10 plus cards so I figure $5 a card is more then fair (plus we were paying $7 a card). Also shipping will take 9-11 days since it is coming from Hong Kong
@ Adam - nah Hav all day from what Ive seen and played I havent ever played juicebox , but from watching juice and playing Hav I still like Hav over Juice. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. And no arakune doesnt, For the simple fact once hes being rushed down he can be hit before he teleports in the air or the ground he still counts as active on the ground where he is UNTIL he actually starts to move where hes going. I know my character, Not to mention his dash teleport still has active frames until his head isnt visible anymore so anytime in there any kind of 1 or 2 frame jab WILL hit and someone WILL combo from. Lee has done it on me countless times , as well as other players. I mean he has counter assault but I still have not messed around with counter assaults yet. so I dont know…
LOL rekka mixups… that move cant be mixed up because of how bad it is on hit and on block. That move is terrible. Unless your opponent is scared , But seriously if they arent scared of you thats free potential SRK -> FADC ultra.
@drago , you know I wanted 2. Anna and Zafina forever.
Anna… Montana? Also, we already talked about this last night. Characters I play never have good defensive or escape options. What it comes down to is wise application of instant blocking for frame advantage, and Barrier for pushback. This is the best way, but it’s really hard to be good at it and recognize where your escape window is, or how to create it. Other than that, counter assault is a good option, and of course your super has gotten you out of a rushdown situation against me several times.
Also, with the Abel wars, I’ll just submit that it’s harder to judge people from videos than it is from actually playing them.
Im not giving up, but the way I play Leo isnt up to the standard I have for the other 3 I play.
Once I feel like Im not losing because I dont know what to do, and only losing because of poor decisions, then I may want a card for Leo.
But then maybe playing Leo is a poor decision.
I do find Leo good for people who play wrecklessly. But hardly anyone I know plays like that.
