In blazblue, if you perform an offensive burst (guardcrush) are you penelized as if you had done a combo breaker?

Bursting is dumb in BB. In GG, you have a burst gauge that charges after used, and you might not get it back by the second round, but at least there’s no penalty for doing it, so it becomes harder for your opponent to anticipate when it’s coming. In BB, you get exactly one burst every round, and you’re screwed as soon as you do it, because you take way extra damage, so of course you save it until the combo you’re in would kill you anyway, making it far easier for your opponent to anticipate. This basically means you won’t see it until the end of a match or until someone is stuck in Carl infinite. Lame
Jordyn, that 5 frame thing I was telling you about, if you were thinking that it would make reversals too easy, just remember that reversals aren’t nearly as good as they are in ST.

I was pumped about offensive burst…but I don’t see how it could happen at high levels.

Yeah it’s in GG. You get full tension for doing an offensive burst, and it has boat loads of invulnerability. Only thing is you’re forfeiting your get-out-of-combo-free card.
Still might happen in BB in a situation where your opponent is pressuring you, and you really can’t afford to let them land a hit, and you wait till just after you’re out of block stun to do it, because you wanted to burst anyway and you might as well get the bonuses of the offensive burst if you can.

Offensive (guard break) burst combo cannot kill an opponent, it will leave them at one HP if the combo would kill. If you have full barrier gauge and do a defensive burst, it will be an offensive burst. You can FD the offensive burst.
