I checked out the website and forums. Seems like this is just an unofficial tourney that is part of a bigger LAN at Mound Street Academies.
From what I could gather the LAN itself is a fundraiser for the Academies.
Nothing wrong with that, and the cost goes toward entering the LAN event. I do wonder, though, how playing other games would work. If the SFIV tourney isn’t for prizes, is there some other way to get our money’s worth by playing on PCs or other consoles?
@otter: I think by online, they mean paying online as opposed to paying in person. All the games are played in person at the LAN event.
For pc and etc you can win diffrent prizes such as processors, video card cooling systems, carrying cases… bunch of cool stuff. and even if you dont win you still go home with something because they raffle off stuff and everyone get atleast something.
yes sorry about the misunderstanding of the pay online thing.
I just figured local dayton sfhdrmx/sf4 players might wanna get some money matches going at the lan or maybe just friendly stuff to help some scrubs out.
theres also a halo 3 tourny as well if anyone is interested, just check the site out.
If there are PC-related prizes, you should update the first post and explain all that, because from the OP it sounds like “Pay $10 and get nothing in return” which people can do at home for free. Random people who don’t play a game seriously generally don’t do MMs, and if they do not for more than like $5
