this times a million.
As funny as that is, I feel like putting Roll in and making her viable is insulting to the other characters.

So many 29s!
Roll.EXE (or anyone from Battle Network) could kick so much fucking ass in this game.
Kanta, it’s been a while since it’s dead
Insulting is Chris’s Power Grid card saying he is two steps better at everything except Fighting Skill than Captain America.
This is a Capcom versus fighter. All characters are valid. Also, I’d like to point out that Roll has more playable action/fighting game character experience than Vergil does (MM:Powered Up, MvC, MvC2, TvC || DMC3), which is just an incontrovertible straight-ass fact.
Why? She’s a pretty interesting character. I could say the same for Frank West or X-23.
Wolverine counts as every team because, well, he’s everywhere. Need I remind you the time where he had 3 ongoing solo titles, and a presence in both the New Avengers AND the X-titles.
However, putting, say, Spidey as an Avenger? No. Same with the FF.
I’ll agree on Frank West, but X-23 is a legit threat and probably the only good thing that came out of X-Men Evolution.
Where are you getting your numbers for xmen being the weaker brand last I checked a x-comic was in 3rd place. with their “fear itself” stuff (actually putting an x comic in first place last month do to fear itself being based on the xforce) being the number 1 selling comic since it came out each month.
As for Avengers we have what? 9? Ironman, Captain america, Thor, spiderman, hulk, hawkeye, iron fist, dr strange, she hulk, and yes wolverine. Compared to xmen of wolverine, deadpool, storm, magneto, sentinel,x-23, phoenix. Please don’t say wolverine doesn’t count. He has been an avenger / had more to do with the avengers than most of the actual avengers. That is kind of their thing the avengers is a “take characters from tons of brands and throw em together” its like the mvc but with just marvel. Even removing him its 9-7 in avengers favor.
I have nothing against them. Ironman is my favorite super hero since I was a kid. Everyone else super man and batman? screw that noise. I am also rooting for ms.marvel who is gasp another avenger. but excluding any character because they are part of one super hero team or another is stupid. Saying characters like gambit and psylocke shouldn’t make it in because there are too many xmen while at the same time clamoring for more avengers just seems ass backwards.
EDIT: Just wanted to check my numbers since I haven’t actually looked at them in a while. The restarted spiderman came in number 1. The new captain america comic came in second (due to the movie im sure which I might add I quite enjoyed) 3rd was fear itself with xforce. 4th was the new xmen schism. 5th was daredevil.
ROLL.EXE? Yeah, she’d make a great ASSIST CHARACTER. Get it? Cause she’s only a Navi Chip?
Maybe they should think about adding Megaman first instead of a bunch of side characters? Just a thought. It’s not like X, EXE, Volnutt, or Classic would be that hard to make.
Right, because at no point in the Battle Network series were we let play as the non-Mega Man Nnnn oh look I’m suddenly playing MMBN5.
Give it up.
As for X-Men being a weaker brand: Sure, if you only look at comic sales. Comics alone do not bring in near the money TV and movies do. X-Men has a movie. Avengers (and its buddy Cosmic-Scale Marvel) has a 9-movie series and a TV series going. Avengers is biggest, strongest thing ATM.
They didn’t make any Battle Network after 3, so what are you trying to say?
You have to understand that the X Men brand and the “low-power crime drama” brand became much weaker because Marvel is shitting on what that used to be popular in an attempt to shore up the Avengers and Cosmic brand. Just ask any comic fan what they think of X Men after House of M, or Spiderman after One More Day, and they will start telling you horror stories. They have the right to do whatever they want in order to make $$$$, but fact is their sales have been falling and Marvel is in danger of digging their own graves if they persist on bitting the hands that feed them.
Two things on my mind after reading this page:
-
Wasn’t there supposed to be news on the game today?
-
How cool might Wasp be in the game? I never liked playing AS Servbot, but watching Juggernaut pound him always cracked me up.
I think the popularity of X-Men for a certain age group was the Fox Network X-Men cartoon show and for everyone else maybe X-Men evolution. No one understands The Avengers and generally outside of Capt America and Iron Man, most non-comic book readers have no idea who is in the team. I personally live without a lot of Avenger team members and focus a little bit more on the street level guys like Iron Fist, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Moonknight. What would be really cool but I know it wouldn’t happen is The Hood or Bullseye to be added.
I would actually be very interested in running Wasp. She /can/ shoot beams and shit even at full size IIRC, so the issue of So Tiny isn’t enormous; I’d probably do it as an install super like Devil Trigger/Berserker Charge that radically diminishes the size of her hitbubbles and makes her faster. No damage increase.
Comedy option: Is basically doing Phoenix Feathers ALL THE TIME.
As for the post before mine, Avengers is very easy to understand on a thematic level. If X-Men is about “minority rights,” Avengers is about “relationship with government.”
I completely get that. That wasn’t my point. Just pointing out that most non-comic book readers just don’t really understand or even care about the Avengers. Most of that group tie themselves to Fox Network X-Men show and also Spider man now that I think about it. Also in the 90s the library of games he has, and still has.
Well, Thor/IM/Cap as well as EMH is changing that concept.
I will say it again, X-Men became known due to tv shows.
They made MMBattle Networks #1-#6, with 2 versions of #3, #4, #6, and 3 for #5.
They made MegaMan Network Transmission for the Gamecube.
Even a board game, a RockMan.EXE version of “The Settlers of Catan”.
The 3 games you were thinking of was the Starforce series. Still was more than Legends. (Not that Legends was worse than Starforce)
There was a MM Battle Chip Challenge, where you can play as MM.EXE, ProtoMan.EXE,Roll.EXE, GutsMan.EXE, Ring.EXE, and TurboMan.EXE.
Agreed with CS89; I would’ve agreed with you five years ago, but between Civil War, EMH, and the movies that spawned off Iron Man, you’d basically have to be living in a cave in order to avoid being aware of the Avengers and their deal.
And yeah, I would’ve mentioned the enormous number of BN games myself, but I thought he was just saying all the BNs after 3 were terrible rather than saying that as a fact.
