Datel's Arcade Pro Joystick - Xbox 360/PS3/PC

Can anyone with some technical knowledge infer from this whether or not MS will be able to block the controller with future updates? I seem to remember Laugh saying you could update the firmware on it. Eternal cat and mouse or will this thing be here to stay?

Be patient. Toodles will have his soon enough and probably give us some insight onthat.

But honestly I wouldn’t worry about it. These things aren’t going to sell big enough numbers to really make MS take notice. They’re coming straight from China/Korea, and they’re not being sold in U.S. stores.

MS has more important things to worry about.

I really have no idea what the future is going to hold on this one. I can speculate all I want, there is just simply now way to know. I’m sure if they looked hard enough, there would be a way to detect this brand of stick and not recognize it. But I simply can’t know if they will care enough to do so. I don’t know if the chinese originator would consider it good business to make firmware updates available to help with blockages. Maybe it’ll be an arms race, maybe the manufacturer will think they got their money and move on, maybe MS won’t care and they’ll always work. This is all speculation and I have no way of knowing which way things are going to move.

What I do think however is that it will probably be slow, whatever happens. The pcb works on both, and is as nice looking a pcb to hack as you could want. The board itself is even designed and assembled far better than the messy POS in the madcatz fightsticks. For the time being, if everything else about the board looks good for your needs (price, shipping, no headset or indicator leds) then I don’t think fear of potential problems from MS should deter you.

Now if we start seeing knock off wireless headsets and wireless controllers popping up using the same exploit or trick, well, maybe I’d be a bit more guarded. But since this is a wired, niche peripheral, I wouldn’t let the fear of possibilities get in the way.

Honcams aren’t dual console (PS3/X360).

The question is, can Toodles figure out how they added 360 connectivity and add it to the MC?

I think you’re putting more faith in me than I deserve. The odds of it being something easy enough that I could figure it out is pretty low.

You figured out how to make a board that works with multiple consoles that’s upgradeable - that’s nuts to me. I’m sure you could figure it out

So will a MC Cthulhu and and Imp with this PCB yeild a stick that works on nearly everything? I know precious little about how Imps work and have no idea how it would work with a PCB that seems like it would have to have some sort of switching in it already.

A MC ChImp + any common ground 360 pcb would work on nearly everything, it would be redundant to add a datel board onto it.

there is no MC version of the ChImp board. It is PS3/PC only (at the moment).

Datel just sent me an email saying they cancelled my order :frowning:

Hey Laugh, I got some money coming your way

LOL did they give you a reason as to why they canceled it?

Nah.

No big deal. The shipping will be more, but I’d rather laugh get the profit from the sale than Datel.

I don’t suppose they somehow knew that it was the Toodles that was ordering one of their sticks for the PCB, but either way it’s great that Laugh can have your money instead.

I’m wondering if they got cease and desisted.

lol toodles is on datel’s radar? damn what an influential guy :stuck_out_tongue:
if/when you crack it toodles, it will be beyond gdlk

No chance. I’m sure some other folks will pop in shortly saying they got the same email.

That’s an interesting development.

I wonder if it’s from genuine high demand or a legal issue.

Well considering they suddenly went from being available Feb 1st to March 1st on Amazon and sticks directly from Datel are being canceled, I’m suspecting legal. I wonder if we’ll ever see them through Amazon.

You know what I meant :bluu:

The MC Cthulu already has built in PS3 support, so there’s no point in putting the Datel dual PCB in it since all you need to hookup is any 360 PCB.
