Datel's Arcade Pro Joystick - Xbox 360/PS3/PC

Nobody is buying this thing for the looks.

this

Working. A lot. Just haven’t had time to read tech talk. Things got slow at work, took a peek(but I was right about the big ugly mofo X SMD being missing, hence, probably some sort of hack).

I figured that snooping on the USB signal and dumping that data into some sort of flash would be trivial, so they probably encrypted the transmission. However, since the thing doesn’t use standard USB HID joystick drivers and on alternate OSes like Linux and Mac OS, and that various ps3->360 adapters exist that can take standard USB HID devices, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was some sort of challenge/response.

Given that a firmware flashed 360 can run custom software, anyone want to give it a try and to figure out the controller comms protocol for the 360?

edit:

Just caught up with the rest of the thread.

I wonder if those firmware updates are going to be encrypted. If not, why not run it through a debugger and simulator environment and figure it out that way?

Stupid question: Is there a home/guide button on this stick?

edit: nvm, looked at the site again and it says it has one. Disregard this post. -_-

so whats the final verdict on this stick?

Im thinking of getting a virtua stick high grade somewhere down the road. I think taking the pcb out of this and putting it into the vshg would be an easy enough job, would I be right? It looks small enough to fit too.

to people that have this stick, does if feel closer to a mad catz or hori stick?

I’m just waiting on Toodles review of the PCB. I’ll totally buy it mainly for the PCB!!! I think that’s what everybody is really interested about… the PCB!

Laugh’s a standup guy; Im sure it works on both. The only test I’m planning to do that hasn’t been done yet is a lag test like I did with the wireless pads, but I did order it from codejunkies and I have no idea when it may arrive.

I’ll order one when I get some more dough.
@Toodles-I’m just foaming at the mouth at what this PCB may spark in your mind in terms of ideas. Possibly a new flashable PCB so you could just flash it when microsoft locks it out.

what do the insides look like?
is it easily customizbable?

are the buttons good?

Just ordered the PCB from Laugh’s site. I wonder is there any pinout of the PCB. Thanks.

Thank you Laugh!

I highly recommend your site. You guys already shipped the PCB already. Super fast service!

Good news, though I’m sure MS will be taking legal action against Datel at some point, so I might order one of these b4 that happens.
I also wanna assume that means MS can’t or will have extreme trouble in banning the pcb with updates.

I’d assume so too…

PCB just came in tested it on Win 7 and pretty much matches up with my wired MS 360 pad. Checked all the USB details and so forth.

So, did these mave form being available Feb 1st to March 1st, on Amazon?

Wow that looks like a sweet stick for modding. Nice looking case, nice button(vewlix?) layout, and decent PCB too. No way would i pay $65 for it though.

For a nice case & PCB, i’d just get something cheaper to mod like one of those Honcams going around for $20’ish.

^^^ dude your cheap! lol. Iv seen a couple of your posts recently and most of them are about how expensive things are. Just thought it was funny.

hrm they are on amazon now? does that mean that MS will be on this soon and i should pick up a pcb before it gets taken out?
