I’m expecting there to be at least 10-15 pages of Chibi Felicias on a plain white background in the final book.

There’s definitely something weird going on…because even Kandoken didn’t get in…KANDOKEN! It’s like everyone has said so far, the final fan pieces better all be be stunning.

Two WIPs that never got submitted because they kind of got forgotten about somewhere around Feb. 17th.

Congrats to FirstFourNames for getting accepted. Lots of really cool submissions, everyone!

Hello, srk fanart crew.
Looks like I didn’t get in either.
I was pretty bummed, maybe because I knew mine wasn’t too hot to begin with (lack of motivation was really killing me). Oh well… I wish I could’ve done a better job.

Anyway here’s mine.
I based it on the Judgement tarot card (thought it fits Jedah’s story well).

You guys came up with lots of cool stuff. Scissorman’s anakaris has a pretty nice surreal feel to it. Switcher’s one is authentically hillarious (love the puns ). Hanzou has a nice old-school Akiman capcom style I’m getting. And jz_chu237, whoaah, that Lilith is purrrtyy.:lovin: Cutest humble Lilith I’ve seen.

Ahhhh… great job, guys.
In my heart, you are all winners!

And congratz, FourFirstNames! You’re Hero, right? Don’t know if you still remember me.
btw, Dreaded Fist did you enter?

Mr.12: Nah I didn’t enter. Didn’t have enough time to make a quality piece so I just didn’t bother.

You guys shouldn’t worry too much as there’s nothing weird going on. A lot of things can influence a piece getting in like the amount of similar pieces submitted so I wouldn’t worry about this too much. Just keep doing your thing. I know at my school, it comes right down to the size and orientation of a piece that will get chosen for the student show.

wow. a lot of good stuff here. I really hope the stuff in the book is really awesome.
props to Hero (FourFirstNames) and gammon for making it in.

and don’t be discouraged if you didn’t make it. just work on your stuff and get better for the next round

Morrigan gets a taste of her own medicine.

I can’t wait to see what’s in this book!

Hahaha I love the Q-Bee! Nice idea.

I’m with you guys in wondering what the end work is going to look like. From some of the work that’s been rejected in this thread, the final stuff better be god tier.

A friend of mine submitted a piece to the contest and her work got rejected too. I thought it was really good. Here it is:

The part I like about it the most is that it isn’t another Morrigan pic (which I’m sure the book will be full of) and that she actually went the extra mile of adding Rikuo’s Midnight Bliss form for the mermaid. Oh well, if you want to check out some of her other art or want to send her a message of encouragement, check out her deviant art page here.

yeah i was really shocked at how much talent was turned down this time. the stuff i’d seen was better than the sf tribute book. i don’t feel too bad after that, but… shrug
but yeah like Switcher said, up to like 10-15 chibis, then the rest should be conceptart.org quality… hopefully.

Gammon got in, that’s all i know.

i just hope it IS less chibi than that, cuz its like youve seen one youve seen them all, and i’m not 13 anymore, chibi’s kinda blah.

Sadly, I don’t think its going to change. The problem is it makes artist with talent feel as if they suck. I don’t think I’m going to waste my time with Udon anymore. Granted my pic was ok at best–it just seems like like its about cliques or something I don’t know. I just know I shouldn’t color my own work anymore.

man, you shouldn’t give up for being turned down. i’ wanna eventually work for them, so trust me, i was a bit shaken by it, but im be fine. you just have to keep at it man. i mean study till you’re blue in the face and when you know you’re next-level. and even then you shouldn’t stop. drawing’s a life-long process. :nunchuck:

You’re definitely right–I just think if anything I need to get better at coloring in PS, I just get annoyed because alot of shitty art gets into those books. And I know the one thing that holds me back is my coloring. Not saying my drawing is so there but I know if the finished product were more polished it’d get in. The fact you didn’t get in really annoys me and the fact you didn’t win the SF4 contest but that sloppy ass bullshit got in.

Damn Kando, that’s hot brother. I see a few problems with the piece (mainly the bg and the aura) but it should have gotten in regardless. We can talk more about it on aim. Like I say art competition will always be subjective so don’t feel too bad. I mean you can be so badass that even if they hate your guts, they still have to give you props. But very few can attain that level, and by then, art competition isn’t even a thing to consider. A good thing to think about is that since your piece is rejected, you can ask capcom for permission to make prints, and sell that.

Im thinking they didnt want to just keep showing the same artists so they probably made a conscious effort to not use the same people. Im sure if you had done something truly truly outrageous it would have gotten in. Dont get me wrong, its an awesome piece, but like DFist said, no back ground, the auras are ok, the lightning bolt kind of screams photoshop to me, and the poses seem very static. I still like it though. Your ability to show muscle structure and your colors are top notch.

there’s plenty of dudes who use photoshop, things like cels and gradients are commonly used in the comic industry and are primarily done with photoshop. but i understand what you mean… it was too much.

Yeah, I do think the stream of light was a bit overkill, still your style is awesome. Ever consider doing a comicbook or web comic in that style?

@kandoken

you really should consider a comic or web comic. i write quite a bit, and been looking for an artist.

if your interested you should pm me!
