Darkstalkers : The Thread

Re: Misc. Vampire Savior Tidbits

Did you know that you can make this taunt invincible? To do this do any level “Pharaoh” EX in the Air, and as soon as you land do the 3P+Taunt. The entire taunt will be invincible. I took some screen caps. You can check them out Here

You can actually have this happen everytime you win by holding LK. You can choose your ending poses by holding any button.

This is pretty usefull if you do this after the EX Big Sledge (720+2P), and the opponent rolls towards you. They will get up right were the banana is.

Okay, B-IzM has been bugging me so I’m finally posting to this thread:lol:

Some random info from Savior’s Library :

  1. You have to input the Guard Reversal motion within 14 frames of blocking the move you wish to reverse. It does not freeze time like it did in VH so there’s a greater chance it will be blocked in VS.

  2. You can buffer the GR motion before blocking a move. If you anticipate an attack, enter f,d,df then either b or db. If the opponent attacks and you block it simply hit the attack button(s) for the GR. This has to be done within 14 frames of inputting the motion.

3)If you use the wakeup roll, you can’t immediately throw when you fully stand up; there’s a 5 frame window where you can’t use normal throws. Special/EX throws are an exception to this rule however.

I have to disagree with you here. Some of the changes made to characters totally weakened them. Like my favorite character, Demitri. In VH his Chaos Flare (fb) was a LOT better, his Demon Cradle had much more priority, his standing fierce hit mid on EVERYONE, and his Demon Blast super (d,f,df+PP) was about a billion times better than the crappy Demon Billion version they gave him in VS as it was invincible on startup and it shot the bats out as projectiles rather than him turning into a herd of bats and moving forward like 2 character widths. Not to mention the fact that they turned the Midnight Pleasure into a Level 2 super. I can’t think of one character who was improved from VH to VS.

I personally think that one of the reasons why Vampire Savior might be more inclined towards offense is the speed of the game.

Lets face it, Turbo on Vampire Hunter isn’t that fast. Turbo2 on Vampire savior is. You crank them both up to full speed and its easy win as to which game is more “hectic” I think Vampire Hunter would be just as hectic if it was run as fast as Vampire Savior.

Fine by me. I don’t like “hectic” gameplay; I like very deliberate and methodical gameplay.

LiquiTed: the method I use, now, to do Push Block is to use Short, Jab, Strong, and Fierce in order really fast. I do this by rolling my thumb, index, middle, and ring fingers across those buttons. Works for me really well, and gets you four button taps real quick.

Gen-An: if you like methodical gameplay, then Hunter is definitely for you over Savior. I will fully admit that the Hunter versions of characters had, overall, way more powerful things, like Demitri’s Midnight Pleasure, the Bat EX, his Chaos Flare, Felicia’s Fireball + Jab, Jab, etc. Really makes me wish that Chronicles was more solidly made, so that pitting the different versions against each other would be more accurate. But the Hunter and Vampire versions of the characters are hardly accurate, so it’s not really the same. I mean, some of the new additions make the characters pretty powerful, too. I think Talbain’s quick hop is really useful, and is Felicia’s new DP + Jab. They may not be as “powerful” as they were before, but I think they are just as interesting.

Oh well, just my two cents.

I tried doing a similar input initially but using jab , short , strong , RH …I just found the strong , jab , strong , jab quicker mainly due to the similarity to my style of mashing while playing Pulstar and Blazing Star on MVS systems .
I’m really just drumming two fingers twice (my 2 cents as well)

When it comes to deciding which game I like best then Night Warriors always was more fun and the characters were less goofy (not that humor is a bad thing) . I wasn’t as amazed by VS (but I’ve still loved it) when it was released …no Donovan , Huitzil or Pyron in exchange for BB and Q-Bee…wasn’t a good trade to me but I have found some love for Q-Bee over the years .
The Saturn VS is a great game in that it brought back the 3 missing characters and the whole double life bar (KI stylie) was a positive addition to deter excessive turtling .

I’ve recently been able to play the CPS2 VS2 and it feels a lot more like a mixture between VH and VS and it may be my favorite Darkstalker title for the CPS2 system (untill I play VH2 which I haven’t been able to do yet) . VS2 adjusted the Dark Force powers to a uniform power-up system and returned the DF powers back to super motion commands which I greatly prefer .
Air chains in VS2 are toned down (thankfully) and some move priorities were seemingly balanced .

I just discovered this…

http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/thread52485.php

Looks like Vampire Savior made it into a MAJOR US tournament in Chicago this year…while the turn-out might not match that of Japanese tournaments could it be the beginning of some major VS exposure especially in light of the upcoming SBO whin Japan which also features VS in it’s line-up…needless to say I am pleased to see this and am making plans now to attend !

Ted

About that tier list. I think it’s quite a bit dated… I don’t see how Lilith could possibly be so low. She’s a MONSTER. Soul Flash doesn’t seem like much, but it allows her to get a pretty decent rush going, it zones, and you can tiger knee it to make a near impassible wall right in front of you.

Lilith also has really good priority and a Darkness Illusion. Her high jump is also quite useful. Her jumping attacks are also very nice for air chains. Her dash is good as well.

I don’t really think she’s top, but she has to be at least top-mid. I think she’s definitely better than Morrigan at the very least, and really easy to use on top of that.

I’m trying to get the “Sako rush” (I’ve heard it called that in another thread) working right. I’ve figured out part of it, mainly the dash -> wp x 2, standing medium -> basket smash, for a nice 4 hitter that shouldn’t be possible; but I’m having trouble getting a dashing weak punch to combo into a normal standing punch like I’ve seen the Japanese do. Any pointers?

I’ve also read that some of the characters dashes were tweaked for Vampire Chronicles, is Bulleta’s one of them?

What are the tierings for Darkstalkers 1? I’m curious because I was playing this game a short while ago and I’m wondering where the characters stand. I presume Morrigan and Demitri are at the top or close to it, and Victor is at the bottom.

Sako is a beast.

I’m gunna put a bigass technical/combo type thread up soon. I’ve been putting down a nd testing all of the Interesting stuff I’ve seen from all the latest vids.

The trick to learning teh lp dash combos is to learn in steps.

first get down the d.lp, lp.

then, practice lp, lp, d.lp

then put it all together. you can do the d.lp after a s.lp; which means [d.lp, s.lp]xN is doable, but if you’rejust picking it up, I find [d.lp, s.lp, s.lp]xN is alot easier to practice with. With what time I’ve had, I’ve gotten 8 hits so far w/ that combo. I think the dashing lp’s is gunna be the rom infinity of VS…

heres my question. for qbee’s tri jump, I use lp, Is it also mk or rk that I’m suppose to use along w/ it? Also, whats her link combo that goes into her cocoon grab?

The Q-bee link I use is just triangle jump lp, land, crouching lk, ES grab. It’s really simple but powerful.

B.B hood’s inf???

Could someone post how to do B.B hood’s infinite thx.

near the top. its all alphabetized
http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/thread54122.php

… or you could see the post I put above, and put the two combos together…

So you just repeat this?(Preferred dash in: s,mp, s.mk, s.lp) (only hits high though)

Question…

How do you Play as Vampire Hunter Phobos?

no, those are just the dashins you wanna mix up… what you wanna do is practice these:

so that eventually, you’ll get:

[+d.lp, +.lp, +s.lp]xN

the plus’s just signify that they’re linked. on the dash in though, you can use a mp instead, since it still links to a lp, tho I’m pretty sure it may depend on how close they hit.

then ya finish it w/ a linked c.mpXXbaskethit

and in VC, you select phobos, then there should be an option to the right on what series you want him from

are there people covering sbo2 prelim/qualifier VS matches?

need stats on jedah the unholy

Jedah is an agreessive powerhouse who is fast but a large target. His unblockable supers make him a threat for any opponent, espcially defensive characters. They can be snuffed but not very easily. His dash is also one of the best with Demitri’s and Morrigan’s. It has excellent speed and range. Plus, his air dash is great get inside to set-up your attack. Use alot of LP’s to rely on pokin’ strategies due to its speed and range. It’s both a useful and a annoying tool. The standing MP and HP also got just as good as priority. HP got incredile range, do amazing damage and hit multiple times as well. This 3 attacks make up as the best, easiest adn useful chain combo. He’s not much for projectile wars with his Spinning Scythe though. It should still be used though, on both the ground and in mid-air. Never use it close. Use it about half a character away or so. This projectile also comes handy with Jedah’s LP poking pattern’s into his LP, MP, HP chain. The Sphere Spike is not a completley great attack. Use it in close perimeters and to get outta corner traps. Although, since it moves Jedah back at the same and uses his HK attack it gives him some good defense. Just don’t abuse this technique. Try to mix this move up with his LP poke. His Sickle Slam is a great suprise move and there is basically no escape from it. In addition with it, you can mix it up with the Sickle Spin and you somewhat control the distance and not attack the opponent with it. On the other hand this just leaves you quite open though. The Blood Blast is another awesome attack which only works good as a Guard Cancel like it does in Vampire Savior unlike in Savior 2. The Blood Pump is an ok move that should be used sparingly since it can only be executed at close range. Yet one downfall is Jedah’s lack of knockdown moves. The standing HK is one but is very low priority. it has slow wind up time, cant’ be linked, and leaves Jedah open. Although, it works well as a overhead attack and as a anti-air attack if you time it right. While the Finale is his only other knockdown, yet you must be quick to react for this one for pursuit attacks. The Finale is Jedah’s best EX attack for it has a great suprise like ability and cant hardly be escape. In addition it comes from the ground and does tremndous damage. Signed in Blood is good but has less priority, for it is a bit easier to escape and must timed correctly to grab the opponent. Jedah’s dark force, which enables him to fly, will it’s nothing great. With it you can play a defensive game or refer to corner poking trap games.
