Boy they do that or even announce something like that. I will go coocoo for vampire puffs. I would berserker barrage x my door so I could get out, Magneto 3P dash to my nearest greyhound bus, Blodia Punch the driver, Jack Bauer hijack it, go to America Airlines, threaten to AHVB someone to gimme a ticket to Japan, get there, Ryoga my way through japan because it’s not the USA so I would be lost, stumble across the capcom building finally, Guile Bazooka Knee into the main office, and
By the by, for anyone who is confused, I guarantee he means the 3d engine, not the game play engine, they can make the game play as fast as they see fit.
Too late, people are already freaking out. It’s what I hate about gamers sometimes - they can’t disassociate a game’s engine from the art style and gameplay in the game it started from, even though those are all separate things. :bluu:
I can see where you are coming from, but with the SF4 art style, they come off less spicy and more like “Could be mistaken for a man at the right angle” chicks. I mean look at the new female Capcom created for SSF4, that is the ugliest Korean fighting game character since 1994.
Darkstalkers would look worse than SF4 does in that graphic style. They just need to upscale the old games and release them in a collection on XBLA or PSN.
But I guess as long as they kept the engine and the speed I’d play it.
Makes sense to me. They make DS in SF4’s style and ‘IF’ they make an MVC3 game they can recycle the polygons from both and add Marvel characters, along with other Capcom ones. Hell Ikeno worked on the Devil May Cry series and lots of Capcom characters have 3D models. This might be less work all around if they want to even come close to the number of characters MVC2 had.
Seriously the chances of convincing the millionares at Marvel and the Zillionares at Disney who are five seconds away from owning them to make a full sprite based 2D game or even something that looks like TVC for MVC3, REALISTICALLY I just don’t see anyone convincing a bunch of fat men in suits that this is the way to go. 3D sells, and even SF4’s 2.5D sold. Money talks.
Just hope the engine can catch up to the speed of the previous games and go from there. Technology gets a little faster and improves day by day.
Funny but Ikeno was also one of the main artists on the Darkstalkers series. If you think he can’t draw in that style well, he actually has. Just look at the game’s artwork and there you go. You’ll have a field day picking out all of the pieces he’s done in the Darkstalkers Graphic File art book.
Though the idea of Darkstalkers in 3D still doesn’t sit well with me , I’ll give it a shot because I’ve been wanting a new Vampire game for over a decade.
Have to admit I like Ono a little more knowing that he is still expressing interest in doing a new game for the series.
Looks like Ono really wants to make that new Darkstalkers. By all means, I say give the man a shot! Let Eighting develop while Ono directs using an advanced version TvC engine. Doesn’t seem to complicated and seems like it could work. I don’t like the idea of a 2.5d Darkstalkers but fuck it, do what you got to do to get it made.
I just really want a new Darkstalkers and want to see what they can really do with the series.
Seriously? In this thread, I got negg’d cause I’m an '09. Fuck you.
Anyway, I’m all for DS having KOF’s graphic engine instead of SFIV’s 3D. I want smooth 2D for a while in a game that doesn’t suck (KOFXII just killed the series)
