DARKSTALKERS RESURRECTION coming to XBLA and PSN

If it’s from the Zero3japan channel it’s tournament footage
If it’s from the GameAcho channel it’s casuals.
Another give away is the win counter.

Any word on how good the netcode is SUPPOSED be, generally speaking? I remember them delaying the title just for that.

It’s not out yet. So nobody knows except the people that are signed under a Non-disclosure agreement.

^ Damn, Capcom hasn’t even taken this game anywhere, yet?
I woulda thought that some version of the game might be at one of those lame-ass Capcom events I glance over on the front page, from time to time.

I would pay $15 for Darkstalkers 3 and fuck around with my friends, but I wouldn’t actually seriously learn it. The real reason I’m excited for this to come out is so Iron Galaxy will finally release their Third Strike final patch

The difference is that this is a rerelease for a series that doesn’t have a modern installment out.

Also, as previously mentioned, there is a large casual fanbase that doesn’t really play the games on GGPO. There’s evidence enough when you consider that some DS merchandise sells more than the SF counterpart (e.g. the Udon artbooks). The idea would be to get them to buy and continue to play for some time - enough that some of them become regular players, even if just online.

The people who play these games will be the same people who have always been playing them. Post-SFIV players are largely trend followers who play what is hot. We all know this.

About the “modern installment” - I would argue that MvC3 is different enough from the rest of the series, that it shouldn’t even matter. The game is almost nothing like MvC1, let alone MSH.
There is still a decently sized fanbase around MvC1 though, similar to Vampire. I just think the “devotees” might be more dedicated to Vampire than MSH. As far as artbooks go, I think it has to do with what’s available. If you took into consideration comic book fans, I’m sure there’s more comics and graphic novels sold by Marvel alone than Udon could ever hope to compete with. If Marvel let out an artbook, it would do equally as well, and that comes down more to licensing than availability.

That said, I am hype for this game to be release, just so 3SO gets its patch. I’m so excited for that.

The thing is, from going around forums like here and Unity, I think that there is enough of a casual fanbase that can be recruited from for Darkstalkers. The characters have always been popular, it’s just that for some reason, the series itself doesn’t get much competitive play in the west. Besides, the important thing is for the game to sell so that future Vampire projects can be made.

As someone who has never played a Darkstalkers game,  how difficult is it and i’m mainly referring to input difficulty.<br>Does it use chains, target combos, links or a mix of these. Compared to say: SSFIV, KOFXIII or 3rd Strike.<br>

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>Its mostly chain combos. But you cant cancel chain normals into specials, you have to link them (like sfxt). Not all characters really utilize linking normals into specials tho.</span></font>

I only really played Vampire Savior, I think Bishamon incorporates links for his combos and offense but otherwise it’s all mostly chains.  I think the hardest thing input wise if you’re starting out would be push blocking consistently as they require precise inputs within a brief span of time, but if you’re a Honda/Blanka player maybe they won’t be difficult. Other than that, some people might have trouble instant air dashing consistently for characters like Q-Bee and L.Raptor.

<div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>Today’s GGPO tournament is both Vampire Savior AND Vampire Savior 2 afterwards! Come watch or join, it’s starting in 30 minutes:</span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”><br></span></font></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>http://www.twitch.tv/rotanibor</span></font></div>

So there was a test play in Japan the other day. Word is that Hunter is the later revision, not the earlier one which is the tournament standard. Not a good sign. Seems no issues noticed with Savior yet, however.

Made a thread on this on Unity. Also getting in touch with Sven on Google+ on this.

IMO, we need to involve the series’ large casual fanbase.<br>

Also, if folks can come up with alot of content/media, I’ll do my best to front page it.</div>

Still though, I don’t think VS is going to do as well as some people imagine. I feel like the ones that are super hype about it are just the loudest, which doesn’t account for much honestly.</div>

While I agree with this…<br>I still can’t say I’m convinced that the game will sell well - at least in the West.<br>and IF it does sell well, I’m also convinced that people will stop playing it - not as quickly as they did MSH and MvC because those games have MASSIVE amounts of derpy ass nonsense and are generally scrubby ass fighitng games.<br>

How well can those same scrubs that complain about combos will be able to go against constant rush down and mix ups?

Are the GGPO tourneys gonna move over to consoles when this comes out, o’course if everything checks out with the new title? Cuz my GGPO is dead; I’ve tried everything, works some days, fails most.

point = missed.<br>

Of course Hunter gets screwed. Maybe. I guess we’ll see.<br>
