Darkstalkers Everything thread

when I went last(during the 1st week of march), VS was thrown on the far left side-room, w/ the broken down tmnt game, and that guitar game(if its still there)… We had to push one of the cabs aside, so I had room for the 2p side. -_-

hopefully they’ll move it back into the main area come ecc. we’ll worry about it come may though… its still early.

and i hope you do VS in ctf over the summer, b/c i’ll definitly be down for that.(& its much more feasable for me to make, since i’ll have a car)

Phobos seems to have some really good pokes, his Dash–>Crouching MK looks like a nice surprise attack, plus his beams are annoying >D

Again, not bad but still bottom-mid tier in VS! What else do you use that makes him effective for you?

Ok since this thread is bumped, I’ll ask my question.

I have been playing more of the PS2 Vampire Collection. In VS when I am using Anakaris I noticed something strange. When I crouch down for a bit his animation shifts forward a little. Let me explain. He animates in place for a few seconds, then he magically appears a few pixels forward, then back to original position. Is this just in my copy, or is it in others? Is it in the arcade version?

Also, in Nightwarriors, is there a way to choose the original color baqckground in training or 2 player?

Hmm well I tend to use:
Crouching MK
Standing HP (Helped me a couple of time)
F+HK for anti-airs

I also use his QCF+P/K & try to use his :dp+:k::k:, the good thing about it is that it can negate some projectiles.

I’ll need to play him more so I can give more info ^_^.

Tried Sasquatch today- B. B. Hood rapes him like a Pyramid Head raping an SNK-Capcom.com Forums’ Elite >_<.

I just fired up the arcade rom, and Anakaris still seems to do that. It looks like it’s just part of his crouching animation, as his attacks won’t actually reach any farther if you do them during that period of being forward a few pixels. The game considers him to be in the same spot the whole time. Might be a glitch, but it seems to have no effect on gameplay.

As for Night Warriors/Vampire Hunter… I don’t think there’s any way to play the original Vampire/Darkstalkers stages there. Just the recolored ones. I like Felicia’s stage better in green, anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

does holding start work? it works in VS for alternate bckgrnds.

& anak’s crouching animatins erk me when i look at it. reminds me of that damn tree in the end of evanagagleon… w/ all those eyes and shit.

Anyone here play as Dee/Vampire Donovan (He’s ONLY available in the PS2 Darkstalkers Collection).

Shag, if you don’t mind emulating CPS2, you can play around with Pyron in the original… I’ll hook you up with the ‘cheats’.

On a related note, some research seems to indicate there were plans to make them playable…

My reasoning is as follows:

  • Both characters have alternate palettes available by pressing Start. Huitzil’s alternate is messed up some because parts of him (most notably the lower body when jumping) use a second palette line (this is also why the Edit Color section of the Original Character mode for the PSX Darkstalkers 3 leaves some of Huitzil untouched). Other games, like X-Men:CotA didn’t have alternate colors for bosses. On a side note, Pyron’s alternate color never got reused anywhere else (though if you have the aforementioned Darkstalkers 3, send me an IM if you’re curious to know what it looks like, and I’ll shoot off the values for use in Edit Color).

  • Both characters have ending sequences in the arcade (mysteriously removed from the PSX port). In Darkstalkers, you get glitchy ‘AAAAAAA’ text, but in Vampire, it seems to be complete. Both endings’ graphics were recycled for Night Warriors. I’d see if the text matched, but I’d have to either download Vampire Hunter, or find someone who could translate. On the 'Station, it just blacks out.

Another couple interesting things:

  • Mixed in with all the lifebar name graphics, there’s one that says ‘Franken’. Most likely a scrapped name for Victor, I only wonder what region would’ve gotten it.

  • If playing as Huitzil and wanna let your opponent have a free hit, do :qcf:+::p::p::p: (might only need 2P, but I know it works with all 3). This command triggers an unfinished move that animates infinitely, leaving you WIDE open. Since :qcb:+:k::k: does a version of his bomb launch move that goes even farther, it could be that this was to be a variation on his Plasma Beam.

I actually had to respond to this satement because it is so true. Me and my friend always have a huge debate over Jedah! For the longest I’ve been saying Jedah isnt that good as far as being a dominant character. Of course we both argued waiver points and then he shows me a vid of Daigo getting a win streak with him. I told him it didnt mean anything because yes Daigo is really good but there are other Japanese players that are better and on the vid no one was really attacking and Daigo was doing all of it.
Right down with it and I have and still stand firm with what I say. Jedah’s rush is good but he has horrible defense, basically when he gets rushed down he has very little options and I play er…played Jedah before. Seems too gimmicy for me so I droped him!

btw Yay to my 15 win streak at CF today! The funny thing is everyone I played, played Lei Lei…

May I just bother with a silly question that has annoyed me for a while; how do you get acces to the menu in the Darkstalkers Chronicles that let you use the switches? I need to turn on the super cancel in Vampire Savior real bad. Just love how fun the game is btw, hope this game will get more in the spotlight; it certainly deserves it!
