Dark Souls 3: Prepare to Die Once More

I’m hoping we can get a decent amount of lore from the dlc. Probably put some interesting NPC’s in there.

DS2 dlc felt like map packs honestly.

I’m sure the DLC will give us more lore just like Bloodborne’s. I’m hoping for more lore on the Lothric lineage.

I’d like to know more about Ocelotte/Oceiros, personally.

I’m also hoping my fevered dream of a definitive link between Bloodborne and DS happens in one of these expansions.

would be nice, but doubt it, since they didnt add anything from the dark souls DLC from demons souls

All the stuff tied to Aldia has been enough for me to say yes they are connected.

There are Aldia references in Dark Souls 3? Where?

I must see them ASAP.

Do’h my bad i didnt mean Aldia, I meant Aldrich. Sorry lol.

Ah I see lol.

Yeah, Aldrich is definitely the biggest clue leading to a possible connection. There’s a bunch of stuff that people just chalk up to coincidence, but idk man some of the evidence is crazy. Storyteller’s Staff straight up looks like Amygdala’s head. Demon Ruins straight up look like Chalice Dungeons. The aesthetics in a lot of enemies in general look very Bloodborne esque.

It starts getting more and more likely once you actually look into some of the lore.

I highly doubt they’re connected, but rather Aldrich is directly inspired by Bloodborne. His story and item descriptions are Bloodborne esque, but don’t relate the universes together. I just think Miyazaki liked Bloodborne’s setting so much he carried a part of it over into DKS3.

You gotta remember a lot of Souls titles have areas and settings that get carried over but re-imagined, but it doesn’t actually link them together. Things like the Moonlight Greatsword popping up all over the place.

Yea but you also gotta remember that the lore is designed to be personally interpreted by the player for head cannon and that just because there are series wide references doesnt mean that discludes things from being actual links.

What? All of the Dark Souls titles are linked though? It might be more shaky if you include Demon’s and Bloodborne, but the main Souls IS all linked

Goooooood memories !

Personally I’d like to see the real Ornstein pop up in DLC and get some more story about him, do time shenanigans again.

Also more about Artorias since I’m a fanboy. I doubt either will happen but it’s something I am interested in.

Was also hoping one of the DLCs has to go into Solaire’s world to help him fell the beast of his lands, just a nice send off for the bro of all bros.

Damn. The nameless king fight is insane. Such a badass setting. It feels like he should be the final boss.

Word. After fighting the Nameless King, Lord of Cinder was pretty much a joke.

Nameless King looks way more awesome than LoC, but I find Nameless King way easier to beat.

Nameless King does hit harder and more relentlessly. Cinder Soul is far easier if you don’t go HAM on him and hang back a bit, and the only really threatening single attack is his wombo-combo in the second phase. If your VIG/fire defense isn’t up to par, you can get killed off with a single one of those.

Cinder was such a cake walk like Gwyn in DS1. I went in completely blind and almost beat him before I remembered that I missed Nameless. So glad I let Cinder kill me. I would’ve been pissed to miss out on this fight.

Like DSII the game doesnt force you into NG+.

Difficulty in this game seems almost directly linked to how much HP you have. I finished my first playthrough with only 20 vigor and took a fairly long time to complete the game, especially the nameless king fight. Now most of my characters hit 20 vigor right at the start of the game and I pretty much tear through it without much trouble. This might be the case with the other games too, I have never put much points into hp since Demon’s Souls.

I’m also wondering if not having to upgrade armor plays a role since you can keep equipping heavier armor as soon as you have the stats for it without worrying about upgrades. I didn’t like upgrading armor but perhaps it did add another layer of difficulty and item management.
