aah, he’s gonna need SO much meter (not like it’s a bad thing, he’s just ridiculous). And rationing between his summoned swords and DT gives his limited moveset a surprising amount of utility, between providing mixups/zoning/oki (swords) or improving his aerial game and all his existing specials with DT (and regaining health).

FUCK, why did this reveal have to make me so hype? I was perfectly content waiting for UMvC3, now I’m gonna be antsy to try this epic shit out -.-;;

I wonder if he’ll have a flight mode in DT like Dante, no that he’ll need it, Vergil doesn’t look to need flight cancel trickery like Magneto, Storm, etc. it’s all dat left/right (Maybe UMvC3 devs took notes from top tier vanilla? Strange is looking the same way…)

Depends on how you DHC, I could imagine that swords doesn’t scale well, so if you DHC too late in a combo or from certain hypers they could easily just pop out (good for resetting I suppose but bad if you wanna just kill them).

His DHC’s look sick IMO, Maximum Vergil probably connects anywhere like a boss, and he could also probably pull DT and pick up too, though he doesn’t get to abuse glitches with it like his brother did…

I mean you could say that Zero needs meter for his sogenmu or that Dante needs meter for Devil Trigger but I dunno. He has Dorm style teleports with seemingly quick recovery and throwing those around with assists and his hella fast long ranged swords should make him a good battery. I don’t see any reason yet why you couldn’t just put Vergil first and just have him build meter for other characters. He’s got those broken Marvel weapon hit boxes any way so it’s not like people are touching you often once you get your spacing down. I’ll probably expend one sword super once in a while or turn on DT but that’s about it. Otherwise I’m just having him build meter for Strange and Strider.

Yet Wesker was looking real strong with his constant mixups in all directions, resets, and high health. that guy didn’t hurt at all but got his damage off resets and your inability to read his left/right/up/down mixups.

I’m more talking of a get out of danger/get the fuck off me/my super beats your super type of DHC. not damagewise.

I’m also pretty curious to see how late you can DHC his maximum super. If it’s anything like Wolverine’s berserker barrage super, that’s even better.

after watching that video with seth killian, i am intrigued to know about the formation changes with the summoned swords. After seth put them around his head, they started firing off, without seth pressing any buttons it seemed. does this mean they are on a timer? and if so, do they disappear/not fire if vergil is hit?

If they dont disappear, and they do fire on a timer, then it is pretty much a free combo breaker for Vergil, thats going to get people to stay the fuck away from him, and also meaning it could potentially be free approach/mixup for vergil as long as the swords are floating there. No one is going to rush at him when they know the swords will just fire off and break their combo, and this would have the advantage of not completely ruining the damage and stun scaling since they dont hit straight away.

same goes for the move seth was trying to pull off at the end, placing the swords around his opp. if those are on a timer as well then its free approach and mixup for vergil again if the opp knows any combo attempts could be broken.

Also do you think vergil could build meter if he puts the swords around his opp? that would be awesome if it were possible! So many questions need answers!

Wesker does about 550K meterless damage which is pretty decent and he gets a free flowcharty mixup right after with a brain dead OTG. 1 mixup after OTG is all you need to kill a character.

Vergil looks like he does less than that using his sword hyper to help open people up because of the scaling.

front/back/vertical teleport confirmed. can’t tell if he’s cancelling to front teleport or down teleport in air after special - might be same thing. might be able to do something off wallbounce>up teleport on ground.

seems like you can probably do dimension cut/comet slash, xfactor and do it again after otg+tele cancel.

hopefully judgment cut otgs, that’d be nice. still no video of round trip, screen shot from an old version maybe?

God damn this character has me so hyped to play this game now. I honestly didn’t want to play Umvc3, but now I’m like hyped as hell to play. Can’t wait till NYCC to play the latest build D=, God help me I’m gonna be going nuts with Vergil all three days. Honestly he seems to powerful even if he is a meter whore.

I wonder what kind of Synergy Dante and Vergil will have? I plan on using them both on my team regardless though.

Probably could get some unblockable setups with the swords circling the opponent. Just spectulation though.

and that’s not including assist to help extend the combo after otgs. Now seeing we haven’t seen much of anything crazy combowise with Vergil, throw in some right assist to help him and he’s easily right up there with Wesker. But again, i’m just doing a lot of speculating off of what i’ve seen. Everyone pretty much dies in 1 combo outside those few characters.

Thats the thing though, the sword hyper scales the combo pretty badly that otg combo extenders will be doing minimal damage.

So yeah, swords>teleport seems like an utterly safe, nasty mixup… certainly worked in the killian vid. Maybe its mitigated by the fact that it seems like projectile counters would work really well against it, given his fairly predictable non-teleport movement.

The possibility could be insane for high low mix ups from what I can tell. Force people to the ground set that over their head. Send a low attacking assis, tele high, or tele forward. etc etc, shit might have endless possibility’s. I welcome this insane shit. Very happy.

I am seeing a ton of nonsense for the twins on the same team.

Ex. Do a combo with Dante when you have say 4 bars. DT then DHC into Vergil. Vergil can DT or swords but it really doesn’t fucking matter, cuz either way they are gonna fucking die.

Vergil’s mix up potential with assists is going to be so good that even if he does less damage than Dante he’s definitely going to be resetting you again which will definitely kill you. I’m just running mix ups all day with Vergil. Fuck the meter. Everybody good has low health now? Might as well just save it.

i think the only time the sword scales the damage and hitstun duration would be when its surrounding vergil . if they’re being shot at the opponent one by one it wouldn’t really hurt it much

That OTG High Time is just begging for some Jam Session assist to keep the combo going. If you don’t want to do a sick reset, that is.

Don’t even call it a reset with Vergil. With all his teleports and mix-up potential and the ease at which it seems like he will be able to stay on top of someone just call it Vergil doing his thing. Dude looks like he will just lmao at AG all fucking day.

Well, let’s speculate.

Vergil on point-Dante’s weasel shot could make for some decent left right mixups (which can be set up nicely with Vergil’s various teleports). Jam session doesn’t really seem to offer anything special for him (might extend combos after his OTG?). Hell, this may be one of the few times I experiment with Dante’s crystal assist just for the OTG capability (it’s also pretty big and doesn’t scale combos too badly).

Dante on point-Rapid slash looks like a nice assist both for mixups and combo extensions (stinger->call rapid slash->BC teleport?). Hell backed by Dante’s ranged pokes it could even serve as a “get in” assist. Don’t know what his other two assists are (I assume Judgement Cut is one of them?) Probably going to have to do something really funky to get combos off airthrows using this assist though (if it’s possible at all).

DHC synergy (Vergil on point). Maximum Vergil leaves them in hard knockdown state, which means Dante can devil trigger in and get his full combo extension really easily. Having an air hyper that hits fullscreen will also make this a reasonable strat for just punishing keep away or nailing assists. He’s got 2 transformation hypers to safe tag out with as well (though we don’t know if he keeps the swords if he tags out. And maximum Vergil looks safe enough for that anyway.)

DHC synergy (Dante on point). Million Dollars leaves them in a spin state before the last hit, so if Vergil has any good late combo extensions he’ll certainly be able to set them up here. Maximum Vergil hits full screen so it won’t be hard to DHC into (and Devil trigger/Million Dollars->Maximum Vergil could be decent for punishing assists?) Devil trigger->one of Vergils transformations for a relatively safe tag.

They’re not exactly “best friends” status (unless Vergil gets a nice combo extension series) imo, but pretty good for “two point characters” teaming up.
