What are Vergil’s bad matchups? Is it a good idea to form a team where the other characters can cover the matchups, or do you want a battery for him so he can use meter to cover his weaknesses?

I can never connect vergil’s hyper whatever it’s called (the one that looks like wesker’s) after high time. I understand that this is a bnb combo but high time doesn’t recover quickly enough to get the super. I tried teleports and stuff but i can’t find an answer

You have to cancel the high time into a teleport into a super, but if you just do the high time and do the super with M + H it will automatically teleport then do the super for you
I always do my supers with L + M as well, but for Vergil you basically have to get used to using M + H

summoned swords activation can be punished by very fast supers (not sure, but probably 5-7 frame range. i know dark dimension rapes it lol)
one of the issues with vergil is dealing with AG auto guard OS vs cross ups, since he is a char that relies on cross ups mainly outside of the one very hard to land DT high/low mix up (iad j.L>j.M or j.H whiff>2m or 2h).
another issue is dealing with neutral tech vs a lot of his resets (ie ground bounce or RS reset) but im too lazy to go more detailed into these
lately i’ve just been spamming round trip for chip (always ready to xf of course) with the charge glitch+lockdown assist a lot more lol
edit: oh and even cr.H is punishable by spencer iirc, tested it a while back, if he mashes BA you’re fucked lol
Isn’t cr.h only minus 2? How is it punishable by bionic arm? Or am i wrong about the frames?
I think it’s only -2 in DT mode. -6 regular but at it’s max range many characters can’t punish it.
Arm is 7 frame startup, c. H is -6. there’s not many 6 frame or faster moves that can punish it if it’s spaced properly.
It can only be punished by invincible/projectile invincible super, or beam supers (which is admittedly a lot of things). The swords are out frame 1 after the flash, so you need something that will beat a high durability projectile to hit Vergil within 10 frames.
He can still go for cr.L vs OS air grab mixups like any other character.

Unfortunately I don’t have recording equipment.
Basically, you just want to call jam session at the same time as your cr.H, then use st.S right before they hit the ground. Jam session will hit right after your st.S does, and they’ll be at ground height. Then you jump cancel the launcher and throw round trip (you should be doing an aerial round trip low to the ground).
When done correctly, round trip will still be hitting on the way out when jam session ends. Mid screen they’ll get dragged pretty far away by the aerial jam session (so you won’t need to use a normal to keep them in hitstun while the round trip comes back). In the corner you can use either cr.H or SH to to keep them stunned while you wait for round trip to return.
It works regardless of HSD (much like Zero’s assist extensions with jam session lol), so you can actually use it to manage your screen position (it’s A LOT of hits though, so don’t use it too early if you’re worried about damage scaling).
I tried the same extension with weasel shot and unfortunately it didn’t work because weasel shot stops linking due to HSD. It works really early in the combo, but that’s it. I’ve been trying to see if this works with more assists (so far it works with Lightning Legs just fine, and modified versions work with bolts of ballsack and unibeam)
Actually the round trip unblockable on incoming does work, just his way of going about it is flawed.
The proper way is to have a preemptive round trip on their entry so it drags them slightly out the corner while stopping any chance of getting out, once the round trip is off them and they start to descend toward the ground you can back teleport so their struck by RT and stuck to the ground. Since you’re cornered you can’t be AG away and can get either the j.S/Samurai edge or Viper/Nova overhead assist.
Now there is some slight flaws with this which is:
With the Wesker set up against certain opponents if they crouch on landing then unless the timing is great instead of a unblockable it’ll be a hard-to-blockable.
Against someone mashing pushblock you would have to adjust your teleport timing, not too bad but stop this from being a braindead option.
With some air dasher/flyer/Skrull they “might” be able to avoid the hitting the ground however you can probably still tag them with RT or use a assist meant to push that option like Vajra which would probably combo into RT.
Outside of those the unblockable is pretty much a given and it’s not entry only, you can set it up during a block string as well.

Lol I was going to ask for ft5-10 mm but it wasn’t like I was planning on bodying him. It’s rare I play any other vergils that know what they are doing. I need to learn the matchup from the other side as well.
lol I feel you, I tried to get some Vergil experience against Andre but that quickly became block random j.2C/Rapid slash and surviving a Vergil combo when hit.
dunno if this is old news but verg can create self 50/50’s by round trip xx DT , teleport. silly stuff
