Dante Changes in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

Another annoying issue happened today…Stinger crossing up at the end of Dante’s bnb caused Hysteric to come out instead of fireworks, which caused me to be punished and die. Also, on the issue I posted before of Dante bold canceling the wrong way, you cannot do stinger wallbounce>dash>j.S if you are near, but not quite in the corner anymore. Seriously Capcom?

You can still do stinger, bold cancel, airdash, j.s/hammer.

Do only 2 hits of cold shower before the stinger. It never crosses up that way for me, my combos are as reliable as they were in vanilla.

Stinger’s wall bounce seems to bounce them higher now thus the new combos were u sky dance ground bounce them in the corner so bold tele can be used far closer to the corner, in almost all cases i never need to stinger airdash S anymore.

Does it bother anyone else that Dante is still required to Bold Cancel even though Vergil can follow up a Stinger without it? Personally, I can bold cancel fine, but it would save a lot of work for the player and also would make sense if they scrapped it since they’re, you know, twins and all. I think it’s a little unjustified.

Dante mains are so badass to do the bold cancel combo’s compare to the scrubby abc LAUNCHER LOL.

Besides, the brothers are like polar opposites. Vergil is try-hard dude. Dante is the pizza dude that shouts “yahoohoohoo!!!” during his combos.

That’s rather silly. Look at it from more of a gameplay perspective. Why make a character that requires all that work, just to be able to do damaging combos? A character that already has ridiculously low damage scaling on his specials, unlike Vergil(and many other characters). Who cares if he’s more accessible to newbie or not? I’d imagine even if Bold Cancelling wasn’t necessary to do these combos, most new players would still go with simpler characters like Spencer, Wolverine, etc. Many aren’t intimidated by Bold Cancelling, as much as they are the really long move list. Anyone could learn Bold Cancelling if they really want to. There’s a few ways to do it. Me, I plink it. Because I find that the method that requires the least work. As much as I love playing as Dante, the thought of how much better it could have been kind of frustrates me, personally. Besides, Vergil doesn’t need to bold cancel, yet you don’t see everyone using him.

What I’m wondering is why the programmers left in the requirement to Bold Cancel for Dante, while Vergil doesn’t need it and can do ToD combos easily. Why not just do the Stinger then use the special attack to cancel it? It wouldn’t make a difference in terms of the combos and damage output themselves. It would just be less input to worry about. Why make such a fun character a pain to use in contrast to his counterpart?

Leave Bold Canceling. Believe it or not, there are people who have trouble learning Bold Canceling. Anyways, Bold Move also lets Dante cancel ANY normal into a jump. Vergil on the other hand cant cancel normals on whiff unless he wastes a bar.

Dante’s whole gameplay is based on cancels and rekkas and I’m fine with that. If he were made without it, I’d also be fine with that but he wasnt. There’s no reason to complain about Vergil not having to Bold Cancel because it’s the same as saying why is X character able to do easier combos for the same amount of damage? And I dont mean this as a comment against you bc I complained about at first too but in the end it’s whatever.

No no no, Bold Move can stay! That move is a god send and it works well for the purposes you stated for sure. I’m just talking about cancelling STINGER with it to go to another special move. I think it’s something that should have been fixed in this game after vanilla. I mean, all that extra work for something as simple as continuing a combo is kinda dumb in my opinion. All of that just for BnB combos that do about 700k damage on average. Dante is like my favorite character and I can still live with having to do it just for the sake of playing him. I just didn’t think about this until recently and now I’m severely bothered by this when I use him now. =( Also, I wasn’t trying to compare him to a character because the said character is better or not. I just used Vergil as an example because he has the Stinger attack also.

Perhaps this isn’t the best place to talk about this? I wonder if there’s a place where Capcom takes suggestions… Doubtful.

Well as I said, it’s the same as complaining why does Dante have to do a long ass combo for 700k while Wolvie (or X characxter) still does Day 1 bnbs that require no motions basically and still does about 700k? As the saying goes, you cant fix what isnt broken (or in this case, what doesnt need fixing).

I just edited my post to say that I wasn’t trying to make a comparison right as you posted. Sorry I missed that. I just used Vergil because he has Stinger too.

And you’re right. Why fix what isn’t broken? I’m just saying that they could have made it easier(more enjoyable?) for the players. It kinda seems like the whole Bold Cancel technique was a glitch in the first place and they could have done something to implement it into gameplay better after its discovery. Give a character that already flows pretty well an even smoother flow(Least they could do after all the nerfs…). I don’t see the problem if they would have done this in Ultimate. The combos would be the same, just easier to manage.

The other day online, I Bold Canceled my jS into Devil Must Die against Spencer’s Bionic Arm. Shit was crazy

Looking at the frame data, it seems it’s because his invincibility ran out first.

-jS gets blocked
-Spencer XFCs and does Bionic Arm
-I mash S+ATK during the super freeze and do DMD as the freeze is ending

Bionic Arm has 11 frames invincibility (even less because of XF)
DMD has 21

Then again though, it’s online where weird stuff happens. I’ve seen the somebody DHC or something into Haggar and Haggar’s fist blew up the opponent (as if the previous super wasnt over or somethingo_O

How much weaker did dante get? I know he hits like a weakling, but how much stronger was he in Marvel 3?
