Daniel Tammet, Boy Genius

Honestly, you’d have to watch the video to truly grasp what’s going on. Generally speaking though, this is a very promising case of human intellect. Think of the autistic savant’s in the world who can do amazing calculations off the top of the head, but without all the social drawbacks and unconscious-sacrifices to common sense. Pretty sick, if you ask me.

Very interesting video I came across. Just thought I’d share.

  1. there’s a video forum.
  2. that vid has been posted a million times.
  3. we already have our very own boy genius.

Not impressive. SRK has a genius of it’s own, and he’s in a wheelchair.

EDIT: Ninja’d

Indeed. I am wrong in all these aspects, it seems.

Sorry. Lock from a mod or something?

While mental tricks and biological anomalies are interesting, I don’t consider these people geniuses.

They all head some type of head injuries.

cKrAzY will be glad to whack you upside he head for $100 (via paypal is okay) to turn you into a genius!

psh hater

:blah:

Kid geniuses need to be put to better use by using their calculative minds to help the medical community find medical breakthroughs like curing cancer and stuff. They might be able to see patterns and consistencies in diseases, viruses, etc. that adults and other people can’t.

Teach these kids Marvel, so we can win some sidebets off their calculative minds.

Too bad if they register here, they’ll be just learning how to do fireballs.

I’ve seen that special before. Guy is pretty smart.

One hundred to one thousand years from now, scientists will probably understand what’s going on with this guy’s mind, and laugh at us going crazy over iPods and HDTVs. 21st century is a joke so far, especially in light of all the sci-fi literature written about this time period.

Yeah, whats more interesting are the genius things a trained mind can do rather than some genetic superfreak. Good for science but that word is misleading.

Pssh, I don’t care.

Not nitpicking but I think there is a difference between genius and savant.

yup, job is already taken by Hadoukefan.

Who called?

NOHOMO sir! Just a typo!

 yeah…

Necro-ing this thread, apparently a news journalist recently published a book “Walking with Einstein”, strongly hinted that he uses advanced mnemonic techniques to achieve these feats rather than a natural born savant.
