Lol Vega mirrors Suuuuck.
c.MP,s.RH and cosmic heel are your friends in this, its basically a patience match, whoever gets the health lead will go to the corner and wait for the other guy to close in -_-
its very frustrating.
You should add some of us from the Xbox Team Claw thread, been playing with alot of the other Vegas on here. I used to be totally shit in mirror matches but I’m starting to get better with it after playing really good SRK Vegas.
I haven’t posted in a while.
Boxer
JF.HP on wakeup right next to him if you expect a headbutt and he will always whiff(not tested for super).
Sagat
Hold DB and slide under his high tiger shot, if he jumps in or Tigershots afterward you got your U2 charged and ready.
Sim
S.MK beats most of his pokes(even yoga sinper)Clean the only one you have to watch out for is his D.HP which you can beat out your slide.
Boxer can EX dash punch and get you though.
You can go over low Tigershots with PoM. pretty cool but not so useful.
I raped a Cody with izuna vortex… It was easier than it every was in vanilla… far easier… but I have no way of knowing if it is because that Cody sucked or if Cody really sucks at the vortex in general.
could also be izuna being a lot easier to land…
i’ve been getting it a lot more consistently than I was in vanilla… or maybe i’ve improved somehow ahahh
i LOVE MIRROR MATCHESz !!!

Couldn’t you just netural jump or S.Hk to beat that out?
Is izuna really that much easier to land? I really havent noticed since i’ve always been consistent with it.
I consistently use to fail it, now getting it loads of times.
On another note, Dee Jay seems to be a real pain to fight against. He’s another version of Guile, sitting at the end of the screen, spamming those fireballs.
Jump in’s seem to be worse than jumping in on Guile though, since his Up Kicks is super invincible, and he got a invincible slide. Also his Dread Kicks go through attacks like Cammy’s spinning punch, but its much faster. Finally, he’s cross over kick is as bad, if not worse than Bisons(Dictator) cross over knee… you cannot tell where its going; well you can after you get use to the distance, maybe.
My tips from a few fights against Dee Jay:
-
He hasn’t got anything to stop you from Izuna dropping him, until he has an ex bar, i exploit that a lot. If he’s got the ex bar, you can bait out the ex UK, but land sliding distance, and then punish.
-
If you keep lp distance away from him, you can spam any attack and he can’t do much about it, even his Dread Kicks is useless at this distance, as he gets hit.
Other than that… theres nothing i found, still testing things out, but thats it. Anyone got anymore info?
My experience with super tells me that using HK FBA makes izuna much easier, but is way too slow. LK FBA makes izuna harder, but is faster.
Also Dee Jay’s ultra 2 will own any izuna attempts.
So far from what i’ve faced, Dj is pretty easy. Most go for his Sudo Vortex or just sit full screen, he has no real wakeup options if you crouch cuz everyone wants to do his up kick move but it whifs. Just treat it like guile and FBA off of his wall to break his charge and he’s got nothing on you. Most of them seem to be pretty easy to rush down.
Makoto is iffy for me, her poke game and pressure can be a pain. She will spam many pokes which end up beign faster than yours and linking into her combos or letting her get close.
Ibuki seems pretty easy since she has to get in really close and is really bad a our desired poke distance.
Dudley is iffy also, if he gets in your in trouble, but he still seems to be lacking something.
Adon is a pain in the ass, he’s like the new Ken online and just runs away and spams special moves. Once you knock him down you get a free NJ since his anti air goes under you and leaves him open.
T hawk you have to zone out like gief and just punish his dive attempts.
I’m un sure on Juri, even though I’ve been using her a lot lately
Hakan is just a joke, I want to fight a really good one that stays oiled up all the time.
Anyways, this is just based off what i’ve seen ppl do or try to do online, not any SSf4 tourney matches.
Claw’s U2 beats adons walldive on reaction.
Claw’s U2 isn’t reliable vs crossups so far…(character based maybe?)
Claw’S U2 Beats Cammy’s Dive kick on reaction(I think the guy I was playing was fooling around.)
Claw’s ST seems better.
Also Anyone have tips on beating Guys Bushin Izuna?
Played a good Sakura at the arcade yesterday pretty beast.Any tips on fighting her?
How good is Backfliping vs it?
How much startup frames is Claw U2 exactly?
Hakan might be a joke, but you won’t notice a good one if he’s oiled up all the time: You’ll notice a good one if he’s oiled up whenever is possible to do so without sacrificing other things. I’m still pretty bad with him, but I’ve at least learned that much.
P.D.: Adon is pretty annoying, but I don’t think the matchup will be so bad one we start figuring out in which situations are his specials punishable.
Vega meaty overhead stuffs Juri’s non ex pinwheels
if Juri follows blocked divekick with it’s other kicks you can stuff with crmp and crlp
Ok after having played SSF4 some there are some things i’ve noticed:
-
Guile is a horrible matchup now, i didn’t like it in vanilla but now it’s like running into a brick wall. I managed to get a few wins by randoming my way in but that’s not reliable in the long run.
-
Did they change giefs throw startup? I swear i’ve been grabbed when trying to punish stuff i could punish before.
-
How do you avoid guys bushin izuna? Is it duckable?
All in all Vega is better sure but i’m losing alot more than i did before, hopefully because i’m not used to the changes yet.
Most Sakuras seem to try to NJ a lot and let you walk into their mixups. Use this to your advantage. If you time your jump ins well, you can jump in on her and avoid her cr. hp. Try to never be point blank with her cuz she will almost always try to NJ to begin her hurricane kick mixups.
For Guy I think you can just duck. His elbow drop is good but you can block it low, so it’s not too great if you know to just wait for it to land instead of trying to beat it(that’s how you get izuna dropped).
Oil Combination Hold beats EX SHC for some reason.
Never personally faced an Hakan so I wouldn’t know from experience, but it makes sense. Hakan’s ultra II beats moves similar to SHC like Honda’s headbutt or Blanka’s ball.
Imagine if Vega’s Izuna drop had guy’s izuna drop range… lol.
