Alright guys, so I’m trying to wrap my head around option-selects
Examble :db::lk::lp::qcb::lk:
Unless they’re throwing out a late attack or throw to hit you out of cr.LK startup, won’t this tech well-timed/tick throw attempts, block wakeup meaties and start an LK.Danku string if they do nothing?
By the looks of it you’ll just do a c.LK and maybe a Knee after that/ If you’re doing the Knee fast enough to hide it in the c.LK then I don’t think there’s any situation where it’d come out bar cancelling the c.LK if it lands.
Just figuring some specifics on Dan’s Focus Attack.
When dashing forward out of a blocked lvl.2 Focus, I’m fairly certain it leaves Dan at +4
Can anyone tell me what dashing out of a blocked/hit hit lvl.1 Focus leaves him at? It’s definitely at least -3, because a Reversal Shoryuken from Ryu will land.
According to shoryuken wiki Dan’s forward dash is 21 frames, and the blockstun of his level 2 FA is 21, so it seems to be +0 frame advantage… wouldn’t it? His FA level 1 is 15 block stun, so I think it would be -6 frame advantage. So "best " options IMO would be to throw or EX Koryuken. Assuming you land an FA 2 of course.
When you dash after a focus attack the dash gets cut down 1 frame. When you FADC’d something it actually gains 3 frames.
Dan’s +1 after a blocked level 2 focus. You can’t throw someone in SF4 for 2 frames after they come out of blockstun.
When they block a FA2, because you’re +1, if you do a cr.lk it will beat or trade with any 3-frame moves. So cr.lk is a good option. So is backdash, hk danku to catch their backdash, and koryu FADC.
Random EX Koryu is dumb. If you want to koryu then do a Koryu FADC because it’s safer and you can combo off of it. If they DP then you’ll probably trade or beat their DP.
LK.Danku = A short backwards hop that stays very close to the ground. Think “Rewound LK.Danku”
MK.Danku and HK.Danku = Dan gets propelled upwards towards the top of the screen and back a bit, lands with a lot of lag.
EX.Danku = The short-hop Aerial EX Danku we’ve seen before. Juggle from HP.Koryuken in the Corner.
What you need to do:
Whiff LK.Danku, perform Instant Air LK.Danku. You hop back and forth. It’s downright lulzy. Hard to do on a keyboard. Making me seriously consider dropping the keyboard for a TE stick. Will practice.
I’ve done “Tiger Knee Dan Knee” like once but I was trying to do it D DB B UF and it’s practically impossible. I’ll try that method and see how I fare, interesting getting a little backwards hopping knee :bgrin:
I sometimes do the midair Knee with a :uf: :qcb: input, which I’m pretty quick with. It puts out the Knee fast in midair and cuts your jump short, but gives you enough oomph to go over fireballs. If I start a round with it against Guile, and he begins with a Sonic Boom, that jumping Knee will go over it and pop him in the face before he can recover.
I see it as being more for trolling than actual use, but from the looks of it, the backwards LK Danku would stuff wakeup Greenhands from Gief, more for humiliation factor than damage, though.
The thing about the Reverse LK.Danku is that if you do it properly, it’s VERY low to the ground, moreso than I’ve ever seen it done forward. It’s kinda neat.
Hey guys. With the discovery of unblockable Ultras, Dan might have a possible setup, despite the range on his Gadouken being a bit… shit.
Throw someone into the corner, Gadouken xx Legendary Taunt xx Ultra. Make sure the fireball is meaty on their wakeup and cancel into the Ultra on the first hitting frame.
The more people test this, the better, as I haven’t been able to land it yet. It should work, though.
No FADC needed, you just do the Ultra after the EX Gado hits. About the same distance to combo an EX Danku off of the EX Gado. Which I do in matches all the time, did the Ex Gado to Ultra 3 days ago.
The “unblockable Ultra” people are talking about is when you throw a meaty attack (usually a projectile) against the opponent’s wakeup, then initiate your Ultra right at the exact frame the opponent stands. Starting your Ultra sets the foe into “panic eyes” mode, where they stare in shock at your attack. Apparently, when you’re in this state, you can’t block. Thus, the meaty projectile hits right as soon as they stand when you’re initiatiing your Ultra, and it all combos together.
I don’t know if Dan can do it because his Gadoken dissipates so fast. I think doing it off an FADC’d Gadoken would be the best bet, but the Legendary Taunt would probably work too.
