I actually had an idea very similar to this… One of my favourite vs games is MSH vs SF … Those of you who play that know what I’m about to suggest…

I swear I’ve never seen this move return in another game. I’d love to see it again. Maybe more dramatic and its effects more obvious when it connects. Preferably more stun time for the opponent so that during that time the opponent has nothing better to do than to figure out what happened.
Edit: I just realized this actually did return in MVC2 (didn’t even know dan was in the game…)as I did a quick google, but it’s just not the same… I think the fact that it would be an ultra (dramatic camera change and slowdown) would be perfect for the (anti-climatic? … it wazsn’t in mvc2 because it almost killed the opponent as well) effect I think this move is supposed to have. …
Yeah, I said that in my edit… well, not SVC but MVC2.
I’ve been thinking about how it works for balance… and I think it’s reasonable for it to work the way it does in MVC2 (havn’t seen how it works in SVC yet) double KO isn’t actually unreasonable. you just have to make it very slow. and somehow make it so you can’t use it for anti air.
so it’s basically used completely on having a good read on someone about to do something with bad recovery or doing something on reaction to a stupid decision by an opponent.
Anyhow, you guys should throw up your wants and desires on the Unity board. It’s the best way of getting them noticed. If Ono implements ANY of these suggestions, I would be a happy camper.
I would be just ducky with him being mid-tier, but I really want to see his 7-3 matchups fixed.
I really like the idea of only having Dan’s taunts have an effect. It really fits the flavour of the saikyo arts being based around antagonizing. I would like if the Otoko Michi also included the ‘Pink Illusion’ art from the manga, where Dan points behind them and goes ‘oh my god, what is that behind you?!’ as part of the ultra cinematic. It just saddens me having to hypothetically choose between Otoki Michi and Dan Install.
Do that and all of a sudden taunting becomes central to his style while simultaneously giving him an improvement and access to more EX-moves and faster access to his super. Especially if they build meter fast enough… say 1/3rd of a segment per taunt?
Maybe you could have the rolling taunts as a special for Dan? Like qcf + ‘light taunt’, ‘medium taunt’ or regular old taunt. Not sure if it’d work well, mind you, but worth a thought.
If they’re going to bring back his rolling taunt, I think it should work the same way Ken’s somersault worked in MvC2, where it crosses behind the other fighter, only Dan taunts at the end. Making it funny, but completely useless because it leaves him so exposed.
They should make Dan worse for the update. They already wasted a spot on him, and it’s obvious he is never going to be a mid to high tier character. Might as well keep the joke going.
Well, it could work as a crossover to help against charge characters while building meter as described earlier. Make it as fast as his crouching taunt or a little invulnerable, but just adding moves is dangerous by itself. The more changes are made the greater the possibility that they break the game.
Why would you post this in the Dan thread, though? Its only going to get you yelled at by his fans. I don’t go into your main’s balance thread and say ‘I hope s/he gets cut, I hate this character.’
I like Dan actually. It just annoyed me that a joke character got chosen over other more worthy characters from other SF games in SF4.
Anyways, Dan shouldn’t be improved. He should be nerfed. He was kind of somewhat good in SF4 and thats unacceptable for Dan. He should get that joke version of the Shun Goku Satsu/
So, wait, let me get this straight. You think that he’s a waste of a spot because he’s bad, and you want him to be nerfed? Rufus and Fuerte are clearly jokes in concept, why can’t Dan just be a joke in concept and be properly balanced?
Well, Dan has ALWAYS been sucky. Its a SF tradition. Rufus and Fuerte are light hearted characters but they werent designed to be a useless character poking fun of SNK, Dan was.
But I digress and I want to contribute to the thread.
Dan should have that joke Shun Goku Satsu move and he should be slower, have less health and gives less damage.
