Dan Improvement Thread!

Dan should be made to be even more of a clown. Maybe they could create a system whereby taunting increases his damage or health in the round - so the opp has to stop his taunts, which should be plentiful.

I had a few more comical ideas for our main man, Dan.

  1. Legendary Dash–if both characters are at the edge of the screen, give Dan the ability to Dash off one side of the screen and then run onto the screen from the other side. You could add a comical run animation, and this would help Dan with his problems closing the gap.

  2. Ultra Taunt: Ultra Taunt should be linkable from anything, and when activated causes a strike, and then goes into a taunt animation while the opponent is stunned/dazed (or even cause time to stop?) and once the taunt animation finishes, connects with another strike which is linkable/gives priority. This would benefit Dan’s nature, give players a guaranteed safe taunt possibility, and then allows us to chain whatever into the end–a simple string combo, Danku, throw, or even Dan’s (admittedly difficult to normally chain) Super.

(This would be even better if we cause Taunting to increase damage / restore health. Maybe the Ultra taunt does no extra damage itself, but causes Dan’s damage to increase significantly until he’s damaged? Then the combo off the end/Super would do a greater amount of damage. Seems like a fair trade.)

  1. Leaping-whiff: If Dan is leaping and taunts, I think he should pass through strikes/fireballs unabashed until he reaches the ground. This doesn’t necessarily give him any advantage/setup, but may help gain ground and avoid flying strikes/fireballs.

Taunts should charge his EX…

Reduce aerial lag from doing a light Kuchu Dankukyaku.

Give EX armor for EX Dankukyaku

Make EX cancel Koryuken more connectible to other moves

Dan roll for both direction

something FADC into Ultra.

if the shotos and odd-shotos can do it so should Dan but with more style of course

They said they will balance the game, and since i highly doubt that they will nerf characters like Ryu or Sagat(and i don’t want that either), they MUST upgrade some other characters, SPECIALLY Dan. Many Dan’s improvements ideas has been discussed in Dan’s section, and the time for those ideas to become true is now.
I suggested in another topic that they bring back that classic Dan’s rolling move(taunt) and make it’s purpose similar to Abel’s and make aerial danku with a better recovery. Some other nice ideas were:

Taunting to raise the super meter
Counter taunt(IMO That would be AWESOME)
Better gadouken’s recovery
Faster normal attacks

By the way, I think Dan MUST get a better linkable ultra, either they improve Shisho Buraiken or make it with a second ultra.

Today, Dan should be considered a joke character only because he is funny and not because he is impossible to play serious with.

Of course CAPCOM would give it crappy music and it would be disapointing, but otherwise this is an awesome idea.

Ultra needs faster recovery. dont like the idea of using an ult and my opponent recovers the same time as me… I’d like to pressure right after the ultra.

I can imagine it now. ‘DAN DAN DANDANDAN!’ Maybe add some cheerleaders in the background. But mostly I agree with the big quoteblock of ideas on the page before. Otoko Michi as second ultra if they don’t have Dan Install.

I main Dan and really I think he needs a few more things.

  1. A roll which goes through projectiles.
  2. Air Gadoken (which propels Dan backwards to a spot where he can punish reactions)
  3. Perhaps one or two better normals.
  4. A way of avoiding hits up close (BUTT SLAPPING).

Capcom won’t take him out of the game or make him useless - there is still need for comic relief in this game.

What I think Dan doesn’t need:

  1. A noticably better Super - there has to be a reason to use the Legendary Taunt. Perhaps increasing the damage to reward the player for comboing into it?
  2. A taunt as his only new Ultra. At the moment Dan’s Ultra is really for punishing and mix-ups (and dodging - I’m not aware of other dashes that give super armour) so make him have some crazy form of that Bang song.

Hell, make his new Ultra SPECIFICALLY to pay homage to Bang. Same music and everything! :wow:

3) Moving away from his mixups.

More generally, Dan should copy moves from more than just the Shotos, but not in a way that makes him Seth. Dan should not be about his normals, he should be about his weird and wonderful variety of command moves and taunts.

I like the ultra taunt idea.

But what would the command be? qcfqcf+All 6 buttons?

That’s really the only way to do it as far as I can see. Or maybe 360-taunt, or some such. If they want it to be standard input, it’d have to be qcfqcf ppp+kkk, though.

Dr. B wants Capcom to make Dan better, but even B’s powers can’t win them all.

More recovery on Jumping Taunt when lands from it
Forward and backwards rolling taunt
Faster recovery on Gaduken
EX Danku and Koryuken do more damage than their HK and HP version respectively
Hisshou Buraiken has vacuum
Taunts give him at least 1 point of Super bar energy
Give him his QCF+K signing move! The longer u hold K the more Super bar or Ultra bar u gain!

taunts should buff him in various ways like in 3s. It fits his character and personality.
