Dan Improvement Thread!

You guys are thinking about using it in combos and thats all well and fine. I would totally want Dan to have FADC combos with it, but I would like to see it go full screen in the hopes that it can be used similar to how Ryo uses his Haoh Shikoken.

Mainly, for anti-air purposes if its fast enough, or to punish fireballs (blow through them and hit in recovery). This would make Dans battles against fireball-throwing characters a little better.

Who am I kidding, it’ll probably go 2 feet, and Dan will be in recovery from getting blown back for so long that he’ll be vulnerable to the opponents ultra.

But that’s what Shissou Buraiken is for. <_<

I’d love to see Shissou’s range buffed and sped up so it’s generally easier to blow through fireballs on reaction, but I don’t want a Haoh turned into a Metsu Hadouken solely for that purpose.

And Haoh already looks like it would work in any situation where an opponent would be in the air. There’s never a reason for an opponent to neutral jump or jump back when they’re more than a half a screen away from Dan, either, unless it’s Akuma doing an Air Fireball. Anywhere closer and Shissou does the job fine.

And furthermore, Koryuken FADC Haoh Gadouken means all of Dan’s Danku mixups can lead into Ultra.

I would agree with you on most of those points. However, if theyre gonna continue with the joke of Ryo trend. Then Id want the Haoh Gadouken to be WAY faster than the Metsu Hadouken. Id rather have it be the anti-air ultra because it appears to be safe if the opponent blocks it. So thats where we disagree.

If it doesnt work out like that I would love to have his Shissou get the range of Abels Ultra 1, essentially making it the ultra that blows through fireballs and can catch people jumping at full screen. And having his Haoh Gadouken be the combo-friendly ultra.

Also, you’re right about people jumping from more than half screen away, no one does it against Dan. And your akuma example actually is a good reason for why I want it to be a fast full range ultra. It’ll make him be way more careful about how he uses any of his fireballs. It would be a low risk high reward situation for dan.

Im just worried hell get neither and have 2 mediocre ultras.

What about anti-air LP koryuken into ultra for no meter like ryu? Can dan do that or does the gadoken not go out far enough?

It should hit.

If it’s like Ryu’s Metsu, and has 11 frames of startup, it comes out even faster than Gadouken. If you LP.Koryuken when the opponent’s high up or just after they start rising from a jump it should hit no problem. If you get them deeper, you’ll likely have to FADC.

Worst case scenario (If this sucker is hella point blank), you need to FADC.

Also, it’s a 6-hit ultra. So no focus absorbing it.

Man, i wasnt expecting something like that but, I Do like it…Seems linkable, safe(because Dan goes backward), maybe good to finish the match if the opponent is with low stamina and will die even if he defends…The only thing i need to know is the damage output, since Vega was in low stamina is hard to tell…maybe something like metsu hadouken?

Meaty chip Ultra doesn’t work against a lot of the cast, especially at close range, where you’re liable to get a Reversal in the face. :\

But what if the other character jump at you? if you use it in the right time, he won’t have time to land and use another move to reversal, he will need to defend, of course if you just rush into your opponent trying to use the ultra is silly…

by the way, im still rooting for shisshou buraiken to get an upgrade(specially in the damage output)

That’s a bit too circumstantial (See: About a 2 frame window, mistime it as a proper anti-air, opponent doesn’t have Ultra stocked, forgo Koryuken, no EX meter, between 40-70 health to chip out where other moves wouldn’t) to be considered something to get excited about. <_<

My impression or: ex danku with higher travel distance and air danku with faster recovery??

By the way, looks like Haoh Gadoken is quite safe if the opponent defends(at least in some cases)

So, aside from new ultra(which is very nice by the way), so far its the same Dan…

Capcom, fix that and give him some upgrades!
A new move like Sagat’s to get benefits from a taunt is a must IMO

^A taunt that gives him extra invincibility/SUPER ARMOR on all his special moves AND taunts?
Mind you most characters didn’t get much changes in this current build IIRC, so look forward to Dan getting some improvement by the final release =D

The other question is, is it safe on whiff? Say someone jumps in at you and the fireball is mistimed and goes under them, does it still knock Dan back if it doesn’t hit anything?

^I believe so considering how not even Dan himself can withstand the pushback of just DOING the Haoh Gaduken.

Probably… Oh well. Judging by how it’s likely only safe on block versus some of the cast without fast, long-distance options, jumping over would give them plenty of time to get in for at least a sweep.

Someone on Gamefaqs was saying that all Dan’s normals have been sped up? Can anyone confirm this? This info is a little shady since I can’t seem to find it anywhere else other than Gamefaqs… However, t is great if it is true…

His new ultra looks awesome, so the Dan users can already look forward to that.I just hope they give him some new tools as well; it would be nice to have something to use against Sagat/Ryu other than mind games…

This would be a bad change.

More damage potential from u2 is good but it doesn’t fix anything really. terrible recovery on EVERYTHING and shitty normals…that’s what currently makes him one of the worst characters in the game. If not simply the worst.

that said i love haoh gadouken…:rofl: and while i would love to switch serious mains from seth to dan, that shit just ain’t gonna happen. i’ve pretty much accepted that.
