Just give his taunts the ability to build meter, and make his jabs and pokes up to par. His Danku’s are good and giving them better startup would be nice, but I think it may make him too balanced.
I just hate how most of his combos are pretty much : c.mk, lk. Danku. If I could throw in another punch to combo into it I’d be ecstatic. Of course, maybe I suck so bad I can’t tell the difference.
In English opinion pieces (North America, Western Europe and Australia), some authors place small sayings or “words of wisdom” after their writings (Usually alongside their signatures). Specs does this after every post, and has become a routine “thing” and way to express himself.
But… Dan can’t combo from cr.MK into LK Danku without a counter hit. :sad:
If Dan gets one or two frames less startup on cr.MK and cr.MP, along with better startup on all Dankus, suddenly Dan has a new world of combo potential and rushdown options open to him, especially if he gets some Gadouken hitbox tweaks.

Dan needs to get the raging demon from mvc2 back.
Instead of making him viable as a serious character make him more annoying, taunts like in 3s that do damage, an air taunt that auto counters into an air throw that does almost no damage if you are attacked mid air and tons of rolling.
New Ultra should be Dan signing a photo of him and throwing it at his opponent, they catch it and look at it then fly backwards like they’ve been srk’d and it causes the red and yellow glow background all the time.
Pretty much everything that’s been stated, overhead HP, safe dankus on block, taunt slightly builds meter, offense, defense depending on taunt. Having his 2nd ultra be Otoko Michi is a necessity to me. I still hope though that even if he’ll be solid, to be absolute bottom tier worst character on the roster. I seriously main Dan btw.
or maybe make it like a botched air throw, Dan drops the opponent and they both fall hard to the floor, both take damage :lol:
or his taunt air throw could be more along the lines of an untechable knockdown and do zero damage. He could grab them and try to land similar to guile’s air throw where he’d be doing a backbreaker but instead dan messes up and lands underneath his opponent for a second and then they roll. That way dan’s the one on top and is able to stand up first giving him some sort of wake-up chance off of it. Not game altering due to his ho hum oki game but its still something thats silly while possibly still useful.
The thing is would taunting build just dan’s meter? or what? maybe normal “standing” taunts are the only ones to build meter that way you don’t have the argument “why doesn’t sagat get meter for taunting?”
i doubt they will change much for him in the way of frames of current moves though. I just think they want him to remain a joke related character. If anything more humorous new taunts and moves would be the way to go with him or at the very least is the way I assume they will go if they really bother touching him at all.
and his current ultra pretty much is like his otoko michi in how it works and its actually a pretty decent ultra minus the humorous ability to focus it… which I thought was a nice touch. something more outrageous would feel more at home to how I think he’s come off in IV. Hopefully something completely new… but we will have to see. I think its highly likely they’ll use the easy button and give him one of his uppercut ultras though.

They should give him more taunts and his old ultra Way of the man.
Make him goofier. When you win with Dan people should be all like “Really” and goofy moves would add to that appeal.
Everyone trying to make him tournament viable is missing the point.

Dan can still be Dan if you focus on making his gameplan taunt-centric. Buffing taunts, better recovery on jumping taunt, rolling taunt… that alone would give him an across-the-board benefit without detracting from what makes him Dan.
This was addressed and identified many pages ago as a bullshit argument.
Dr. B’s homonculous would be pretty chill, though he’d still eat criminals and shit.
