Well, look at it this way. It would be a circumstantial move, but would be great as a fireball deterrent or a very risky mindgame on wakeup. In any other situation, it’s a free punish combo for the opponent (500 to 600 damage is not a smart exchange for a full revenge meter and all your EX Stocks drained) or Dan gets to Legendary Taunt at the cost of two meters.
that took me back… yeah I remember what the real one looks like. The Danretsu was an idea to parody it [and ryo’s super punch that looks like ryu’s FA] with… a grab and focus based parrys.
The throw essentially does 2-4 s.lp of recoverable grey dmg then leaves dan in front of his foe with, a lvl2 FA prept, a 1 frame window to get reversaled, and chip dmg if blocked. Ex would remove the 1 frame for reversal and up the FA to a lvl 3 crumple. Was also thinking holding the input could charge the ‘fake ryu FA’ like the real FA.
Visually, dan getting serious only for his foe to get their daigo on [as they auto focus the string of s.lp] makes me lol.
note: the grab’s FA could loose to ex.armor breakers and ultras so Dan is not always safe.
I like it. It only sounds op because the ways to beat it [finish him in one combo :tdown: or don’t hit him :tup:] are pretty unconventional. Then again to win with Dan should req unconventional tactics like taunting to build meter(s)
I hardly see it as OP as Dan has burned all of his Super Meter if he gets hit, only upon full taunt completion does he get the two bars back. No sane person could tactically justify throwing this out cold when EX stocks would usually be better spent on EX Danku.
All of Dan’s should build some super meter
-normal.Taunts gains 30 super meter
-cmd.Taunts gains 20 for the movement [roll or flip] and 40 for completing the taunt.
-cmd.Taunts should serve some tactical purpose.
-for evasion, build more super meter, and…
-roll.taunt can be can xx into Super during roll; can xx into Specials and Super during taunt.
-randomly, every 3 to 5 roll.taunts, end in a special.taunt that takes 60 from foe and gives 60 to Dan.
-flip.taunt can air focus, like Gouken, with its jump.taunt :rock:
Super taunt to fill ultra meter [if hit out of it] or regain 2 ex stock [upon completion]
-can still xx into ultra.

So here’s the 2 hand FB parody. Gadou Shoukouken:Dan covers up then releases 2-h FB; looks like Sakura’s Big FB and his FA with 2hits. Ranges: lp to hp= less than Gadouken counterpart. ex= almost half of screen. dmg:50+40 exdmg:70+60
has similar start up frames to akuma’s red.hadou w/ guile’s SB block/hit frame advantage.
+8 frames more startup than his Gadouken’s startup (~Akuma’s Red FB)
less recovery than his Gadouken’s recovery (~emulate SB block/hit advantages)
ex version is active +4 frames sooner, hyper armor, travels 45% of screen, and fast (but not guile Ex.SB fast)[/details]
Danretsuken
[details=Spoiler]Another poster mentioned adding a grab; a good dan grab using :hcf:+:k: can be parodied from SNK Zanretsu Ken’s look with help from ken and ryu. Danretsu Ken:Moves heel of front foot onto foes toe [to grab] while taking a stance similar to Ken’s. Performs 2-4 jabs [25 dmg each] while yelling “I can’t lose!”. Finishes with what looks like Ryu’s lvl 2 FA [30~50 dmg with crumble or chip block dmg] with a 1 frame window to block/counter. Dan holds his own hand if FA is blocked. If foe is grabbed, all jabs [50-100 dmg] are focus absorbed. If grab [his heel] whiffs, continues with chipping jabs and FA. Ex will auto link last hit with lvl 2 crumble effect and has hyper armor.[/details]
Dan doesn’t need it, especially if his moves are touched up all around. His Ultra already goes clean through most moves in the game (on startup, anyway), can hit even a near-fully-crumpled opponent (he doesn’t need to dash out of his Focus, and if he does he can actually LK Danku over the enemy and Ultra their fallen body), and works as a pretty decent anti-air.
Dan needs buffs, but this isn’t one he needs IF he gets attention elsewhere.

Are you talking about a juggle or standing? I don’t think he really needs it but I wouldlike to see the Ultra tweaked just a bit, there are a few too many instances where the Ultra whiff, trades, or can be blocked that don’t feel right.
Headbutts, Blanka balls, tatsus should whiff on fewer frames. Trading with Blanka balls should happen a bit less, and Zangief’s lariat seems to overpower the Ultra in too many instances.
As for blocking it I’m mainly bothered by jump ins. Not sure if this is something to do with online lag but this is a common scenario: Opponent jumps in, I perform Ultra, Ultra animation begins as opponent is frozen at head or chest height at THE BEGINNING of their attack animation, as Dan runs forward they are magically on the ground crouched and blocking.
It might seem like I’m asking for the world here but I really don’t want Dan to be EASY. Whatever changes they make I want them to be pretty much unnoticeable to someone that doesn’t main him (with the exception of new moves of course). I’d rather him to go unchanged than to end up with a different “flavour”.
The more I play him the more convinced I am that they really but REALLY put a lot of work into hiding the fact that he ISN’T the lowest tier character in the game.
He just needs to be really really fast, That’s the only thing that puts me off dan, such a slow cunt, like when someone whiffs a move and you go to Cr. Rh them, and they block? that’s fuckin stupid, if it was anyone else, that fucker would be on the ground, but because his moves come out slow as hell, alot of the time when yer not expectin it, you get blocked, it’s annoyin when yer used to everyone else having a fast trip and you have to keep it in yer head to use certain moves earlier than you’d normally would. If Dan was really reallyfast, and had his autograph back, I dunno, he’d be pretty coolio then.
