In my opinion, the Seth matchup got worse with his stun being upped to 900 and his pokes getting better. He didn’t need nj.FP to roll Dan. If Dan could guess right twice in a row, a single or double-hit dizzy would decimate him. While he won’t be able to play such dominating keepaway from afar, it’s going to be just as bad as fighting Akuma at mid-range.
I didn’t even notice XD
Meh Guile will still be a giant pain in the ass but it’ll just take him one more hit to get a KO on us. As for Seth he’ll be a whole different beast with the changes they’ve made to him, getting in will be easier but takes more to stun and KO him, takes more for him to stun us with the stun drop on Firework Kicks but he’ll also be doing more damage with it. Akuma still has better tools than Seth; s.HK, air Fireball, better teleport to name a few.
I think the Guile matchup is going to be better than before. We’ll lose less to naked Flash Kicks, and it will be a LOT harder for Guile to jump out or poke and tech us out of our close-range shenanigans thanks to the extra frame advantage and recovery on Dan’s normals. Pain in the ass? Yes indeedy, but better, at least.
Akuma’s going to inadvertently be worse off thanks to the buff to our cr.MK. It’s going to be a bit easier to counter-poke s.HK.
We may get some tastier anti-teleport option-selects out of the deal as well, thanks to the sped up normals. I know I’ve been stuck using cr.LK for OS shenanigans for Dhalsim’s on wakeup. We may be able to step up to cr.MK or cr.MP. Much more potential for damage and pressure off of those.
I think Seth is going to be an easier time versus bad Seth players who crutched on the keepaway. Good Seth players with a solid understanding off rushdown and footsies are going to be a lot tougher, especially with the better Tanden Belly Rape getting a little bit rape-ier…
I think Deejay is going to be far tougher with the charge buffer reduction. I’ve dubbed him “Guile the Second”.
I wonder if Dan will once again avoid the bottom spot of the tier lists after hearing about both mokoto and hakan’s buffs
Guile will still be hard in AE imo , because getting in will be hard still overall if his St.Fierce or Cr.Fierce hit-box haven’t changed .
I don’t think Akuma give much problems as he does against people with slow fireballs , so not much to comment .
I think Seth will definitely be easier . If his N.Jumping Fierce is removed , then jumping guessing against Sonic Booms should be more in Dan’s favor .
idk about Dee Jay . If he doesn’t have pokes like Guile’s St.Fierce while getting in by jumps , then Dee Jay shouldn’t be much trouble .

Ahh if Seth’s jumping back fierce is removed, then that would be great. But you can get through guile most of the times, just watch for that close sonic boom when you wakeup, that way you can U1, best set-up ever.
They will walk back and jab sonic boom , and since Dan’s run isn’t fast from his U1 , it won’t be able to win . Besides U2 is a huge factor in this match imo because his sonic booms is a bit humanly impossibly to punish with U1 even if a few steps away ( Why would he throw a Sonic Boom if your really really close anyway ? St.Fierce Dan is in the mind of Guile ) .
Spinning Back Fist is getting a damage nerf.
Also, I never said it would be a good matchup. It’ll still be shit. Just less shit.
But I see very little guiles back up just 2 or so steps and sonic boom, I see most of them just back up once
Wait… so you guys plan on beating Seth by jumping at him? That probably won’t work. Oh yeah, and the 1 fewer frame recovery will matter a lot I’m sure.
But yeah I came to this thread to say I’ll try Dan again after AE.
Also in my biased opinion Seth’s mixups are way better than Akuma’s because of j.mp, good knockdowns without meter, corner stomps, command grab, and instant air stomp. Though DP FADC U2 with Akuma may change that.
You forgot his Tanden Vacuum-HaHaHa!
Yeah, I totally don’t consider jumping in a reliable option. Proper anti-airing on the part of your opponent should be expected, and you can’t rely on psychic mindgames. Also, Seth’s Anti-Airs do mega-mucho damage.
In Super, a successful jump in could net you 60% plus an easy opportunity for a dizzy for huge damage and the round. Now you can’t do that, so the risk reward isn’t worth it when Seth can do 30% and get momentum.
I rarely jump at Seth, it’s very annoying because since Dan’s projectile will not even reach half screen. I have no choice but to slowly walk up to Seth. And get surprised butt-seks by his back-jump Fierce.
I just wish they can dub his Gadoken to be a little further. But if they do that, they can’t…because Dan is Dan. But at least make it faster(but still can’t do that since the AE changes were released) like how fast as hell it was in Capcom vs Snk 2, which is IMO the best Dan
Corner stomps might not work anymore with the nerf on them, as well as Dive Kick might not get the reset after too With more health and stun I might actually give Seth another shot to see how much he’s changed.
Don’t think Tandem vacuum thing got buffed, just his Tandem super got better (looks like it drops them less and can’t get stuffed on start-up).
I was talking about how he forgot to list the fact that Seth had Tanden Engine. That thing is deadly.
I’m sure he’s well aware of it
So what if SBF gets damage nerf ? He will still give Dan a harder time getting in . Do you mean SBF while I’m near him ? I didn’t say his Towards Fierce , I mentioned St.Fierce , they are two completely different normals since St.Fierce stuffs crouching opponents . If I seen him going for more SBF , then Cr.Forward -> Gadouken/Cr.Foward -> EX Hop Kicks would be coming out like no tomorrow . The only concern for me with SBF is for combos , otherwise any other movements I see from him I usually duck or jump .
If they don’t do that , then those Guile players should work on performing safer Sonic Boom setups after throws .
I never said the matchup was good, I said it wasn’t getting worse. :\

Hit-confirms into forever.
Edit: Okay. The last one hit me while I was driving on the highway. Crouching MK into Dankus? No wonder they nerfed the damage. I feel almost sorry for some of our matchups… no wait… all of our matchups. MWAHAHAHAHA!
Hopefully we can get some confirmation on that one.
Also, we have footsies now. I feel like I’d be able to outfootsie a Bison.
